In writing the ancient history of Indonesia, it is necessary not only historical sources in the form of relics of the past / artifacts, but also in the form of written sources, one of which is inscriptions. In archaeological understanding, the inscription is the official royal charter carved in stone or metal pot, usually containing decisions regarding the designation of an area to be a sima / perdikan area. The determination of an area to be sima by a king or family is usually done if the area is considered meritorious and for the benefit of a sacred building. However, there are also inscriptions containing court decisions and laws. Apart from stone and metal, ancient writing can also be written on lontar, pottery, statues, and possibly other perishable objects such as bamboo and wood, so they are no longer found today. &nbsp

Geomorphologically, Sambisari Temple site is located on the alluvial plain at the foot of Mount Merapi, so that the land is fertile, it is easy to get water and the land is suitable for living and farming. This reason is very possible for the construction of temples. However, because then the area where the site was covered by volcanic ash as a result of the eruption of Mount Merapi which was very powerful due to the combination of the three tectonic, gravitational and volcanic forces that caused the volcanic cone of Merapi to flow sunken hyperbolic faults. This results in the level of soil fertility around the Sambisari Temple Site decreasing and even becoming damaged, because based on the soil material the sediment comes from the main material of lava deposits and fluvial deposits resulting from cleavage of pyroclastic materials from the eruption of Merapi Volcano in the form of boulder, gravel, sand, and dust. While the development of the soil around the Sambisari Site is still in the initial stage which is a type of horizon regosol soil and this soil has not experienced horizon differentiation, so that the soil profile is homogeneous. Such soil properties can be observed through the texture of dusty sand to gravel dust. &nbsp

The life of the megalithic community carries out the tradition continuously until the influence of Hindu-Buddhist culture. Hinduization in this area was carried out by utilizing megalithic worship facilities, including mortar and phallus stones. The concept of worship that is used is still the same, namely fertility, a concept that is absolutely necessary in an agricultural society. The process of Hinduization can be seen in the use of stone mortar and phallus together, namely by erecting the phallus or menhirs into the mortar holes so that they resemble a lingga-yoni arrangement. Thus the phallus or menhir function represents the existence of the lingga, while the mortar function represents the presence of yoni. Lingga and yoni are objects as symbols in Hinduism. &nbsp

At Prawoto Hill there is a classical-Hindu phenomenon even though it is within the historical framework of the Islamic Kingdom of Demak. This classical-Hindu phenomenon can be seen in the archaeological remains and the concept behind the choice of Hill or Mount Prawoto as a place to build a pesanggrahan building. Yoni, and statues still colored the construction of the pesanggrahan building during the Demak Kingdom era, but their function had been transferred from sacred to religious to profane. The concept of mountains is a concept that has existed since the classical-Hindu period and still has an important meaning during the era of the Demak Kingdom. &nbsp

The results of the analysis show that the role of nuclear engineering for archaeological evidence is very useful and needs to be developed and carried out by experts in general, especially in the field of archaeology. As it is known that the analysis using the ordinary chemical analysis method has several weaknesses, including not being able to analyze certain elements, requiring quite a lot of samples because the analysis for one element requires one sample. Meanwhile, the analysis using the relative dating that has been done by archaeologists will be more accurate if it is followed by absolute dating. &nbsp
