Effects of the basic seminar course on college students motivation to study, assessment of study progress, and skills for self-education
Get PDFThe present study involving nursing college students was conducted to empirically examine effects of the introductory college course on seminars called “Kiso Zemi (meaning basic seminars) ” on the students’ motivation to study, assessment of academic progress, and skills for self-education. The subjects were 361 nursing students of College B in Prefecture A, where a questionnaire survey was conducted to ask them their evaluation of the course as to its effects on their motivation to study, assessment of academic achievements, and skills for selfeducation. They positively evaluated the course as to the skills for presentation, group work, literature search, and report writing. Although the course did not directly infl uence the skills for self-education, it favorably contributed to their motivation to study and assessment of academic achievements, which in turn should infl uence their skills for self-education. Since the class style may influence their approaches to learning and assessment of academic achievements, teachers should make efforts to improve their class teaching methods.departmental bulletin pape

Humor in Morio KITA’s works ― A search for the sources of his humor―
Get PDFMorio Kita was born as the second son of Mokichi Saito, a great Tanka poet, and his wife Teruko. He grew up in a wealthy family, received college education to become a medical doctor after some turns and twists, and then entered his career as a writer. He won Akutagawa Prize at an early stage of his writer career and continued to produce numerous works thereafter. His works are rich in humor, which attracted a great number of readers.
In this paper the author attempted to analyze his works and search for roots of his humor. Humorous features of his works were characterized and categorized in the last chapter. It seems clear that his sense of humor was nurtured by his lifelong self-education driven by his intellectual enthusiasm.departmental bulletin pape
Relationship of the collision avoidance action index (contact occurrence rate) to new physical fitness test items and "injury"
Get PDFThe device which reproduced the collision scene with the rolling ball to clarify the cause of the collision of the child was developed. This device was able to measure indexes such as a contact occurrence rate, the highest evasion limit speed.
In addition, it was revealed that these indexes formed individual difference by sex differences, aging, a lifestyle.
It was reported the influence that the outbreak frequency of "the injury" and degree of the physical strength gave to ability for collision avoidance (contact occurrence rate) here.
The collision avoidance action measurement and writing by oneself-style questionnaire survey on "the injury" were performed with 45 third graders and 50 fifth graders of an elementary school in Osaka Japan in June, 2014. Elementary school oneself performed the new fitness test that Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology established. The relationship of the collision avoidance action’s indicator (contact occurrence rate) to the kinds and outbreak situations of the injury and the results of physical fitness test were analyzed. The contact occurrence rate on "the injury" was higher in the experienced group of bruise and the group which was hurt by falling down than in the inexperienced group. On physical fitness tests those contact occurrence rate were significantly related to the 20-meter shuttle run, 50-meter running, standing broad jump and softball throwing among fifth graders. However, such relationship was not obtained among third graders. It was suggested that the contact occurrence rate is related to the kind of injury (bruise) and the outbreak situation of injury(hurt by falling down) and that it is also related to the ability to run, instantaneous force, jumping power and at the same time control skilled instantaneous force.departmental bulletin pape

1. Santohka published collections of his haiku poems during his life time while. Hohsai published none while he was alive.
2. Santohka, like Bashoh Matsuo,wrote many of his poems on changeable Nature, landscapes, and human sentiments during his frequent journeys while Hohsai produced as many as nearly 3000 poems over the period of 8 months before
his death as a solitary janitor of a Buddhist temple in his desperate effects to be regaeded as a poet.
3. Many of Santohka's haiku poems are considered to be of a variation in style not far from the traditional haiku style of 5-7-5 syllables whereas Hohsai largely neglected the haiku rules in his so-called one-phrase poems.departmental bulletin pape
Relationships of physical, mental, social factors to the self-rated health in the elderly independently living at home in a rural area
Get PDFIn an attempt to determine which factors contribute to the self-rated health among the elderly，a questionnaire survey and physical measurements were conducted in 53 elderly subjects (22 males and 31 females) who live self-sustained lives in a rural area with a population aging rate of 49.7%.
The ages of the subjects ranged from 65 to 88 with an average of 72.6±6.8 years. Self-rated health was scored by using the visual analogue scale (VAS) with the optimal score of 10. The average score of our subject group was 6.6±1.9.
The multiple regression analysis revealed that mental factors (stability of life，presence or absence of chronic diseases ) were significantly related to self-rated health. Neither systolic blood pressure nor bone area ratio was related to the score of VAS as the dependent variables.departmental bulletin pape

The Taisho House Remodeling Exposition held in 1922 and chronological changes of the model houses and inhabitants thereafter
Get PDFThe Taisho House Remodeling Exposition was held by Architectural Association of Japan at Sakuragaoka, Mino city, in 1922. In an attempt to remodel traditional Japanese houses the Association designed and exhibited new style houses which would be suitable for the modern life style, and sold them after the Exhibition was over. These semi-westernized houses were intended to suit the life style and financial status of people of the Japanese middle class at that time. Out of 25 such houses, seven houses are still remaining and being used until now.In the present paper, the author surveyed and arranged in series the transition of the owners and occupants of each lot. He takes up one house as a case study which still remains relatively intact from the outset and explains the processes of reconstruction and repair necessitated by the changing times.The future task for the current and next-generation residents would be not only maintenance of their houses but also preservation of the townscape.departmental bulletin pape
