John Widmer and Kurt Erichsen met in 1983 at the Old West End Festival in Toledo, Ohio. John served as the editor of the Toledo Area Gay and Lesbian Affiliation (TAGALA) newsletter which was published from 1983 - 2019. Kurt is the creator of Murphy's Manor, a LGBTQIA+ comic set in a fictionalized version of Toledo. In their interview, John and Kurt discuss their personal and professional lives as well as memories about Toledo's gay and lesbian community in the 1980s and beyond

This reflection of life of Sofia Quintero was written for a Dia de los Muertos Celebration on November 1, 2014. Anita Barrientos Mauter recollects meeting Sofia in 1972 at the University of Toledo. They, along with other students, formed the first chapter of MECHA (Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan) in Toledo, Ohio. After recognition as an official student organization and fundraising efforts, MECHA established a scholarship fund to empower other people in the Hispanic community to pursue a university education. MECHA is now known as the Latino Student Union
