No full textThis reflection of life of Sofia Quintero was written for a Dia de los Muertos Celebration on November 1, 2014. Anita Barrientos Mauter recollects meeting Sofia in 1972 at the University of Toledo. They, along with other students, formed the first chapter of MECHA (Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan) in Toledo, Ohio. After recognition as an official student organization and fundraising efforts, MECHA established a scholarship fund to empower other people in the Hispanic community to pursue a university education. MECHA is now known as the Latino Student Union
