    Development and Testing of Zeolite-Based Slow Release Fertilizer NZEO-SR in Water and Soil Media

    The research was carried out in the Laboratory of Soil Science and greenhouse Agriculture Faculty, Jenderal Soedirman University. This experiment was aimed at studying the effects of fertilizer adhesive levels and fertilizer granule size on water penetration, water, and soil chemical properties. The research was laid out according to Completely Randomized Design (CRD), consisting of 2 factors i.e. fertilizer granule size (2 sizes) and fertilizer adhesive (5 levels). There were 10 types of NZEO-SR fertilizers tested with 3 replications. The fertilizers were tested in water and soil media, totaling 60 experimental units. The results showed that NZEO-SR fertilizer having a diameter of 2.5 - 3.0 mm in combination with 3% (w/w) fertilizer adhesive had the highest ability to resist water penetration. Levels of fertilizer adhesive material gave significant effects on pH (H2O), electrical conductivity (EC) and water-soluble N. Diameter of fertilizer had no effect on all the variables studied, except for water-soluble N. Levels of fertilizer adhesive significantly affected the pH (H2O) and total soil N, but did not show significant effects on the EC and soil available N. The diameter of fertilizer had no effect on all soil chemical variables

    CLIMATE CHANGE ADAPTATION ON LAND COVER OF SAND DUNES ECOSYSTEM PARANGTRITIS COASTAL AT BANTUL REGION, DAERAH ISTIMEWA YOGYAKARTA, INDONESIA

    Interpretation of imagery in 2003, 2010, and 2016 shows the changing patterns of land cover on coastal areas at Parangtritis Bantul. This change was triggered by climate change factors, especially rainfall. The study aims to: 1) mapping the pattern of land cover change on coastal sand dune Parangtritis ecosystem and its relation to climate change occurs; 2) determine the forms coastal sand dune ecosystem adaptation due to the climate change.The study was conducted by surveying and mapping. Firs creating a map of land cover temporally. Map of the pattern of land cover 2003 and 2010 of land area was obtained by image interpretation. The pattern of land cover in 2016 was obtained from the existing mapping month from May to September 2016. The changes pattern of land cover is shown by the calculation of the area coverage and type of land cover from time to time. Climate change is seen by the trend analysis of rainfall last 19-28 years. The link between land cover and climate change were analyzed descriptively. The forms observed adaptation of the dominant vegetation growing as land cover in the zone of active sand dunes.The results showed that from 2003 to 2016 a reduction in the extent of land cover types such as moor, natural bush, cultivated plants, ponds, and settlements. Land cover types shoals and sandbanks open beaches are also reduced. Rainfall trend analysis showed that the study area has increased the amount of rainfall. The rainy season in the area the research took place between the months of November to June, while the dry season lasts between the months of June to October. Adaptation form occurs that is increasingly broad and diverse types of vegetation found in sand dune ecosystems.     MINING ASSOCIATION RULES FROM COAL-MINING DISASTERS OF MARCH, 15, 1851 TO MARCH, 22, 1962 (111 YEARS)

    The climate change issues also associate with the increase of coal-mining exploitation, as well as the disaster caused by it.  The data was very interesting due to the long interval between the years of 1851 to 1962. The number of deaths was from 10 to 361. The data, in fact, had been already analyzed by other researcher applying statistical methods. In this research, we try to apply data mining techniques of association rules to find the highest support and confidence in the data. Afterward, we will fit the determined association rules to the available data of Coal-mining Disasters from 1963 to 2015. The objective of the research was to find the association rules. The method was patterned frequency and a priori algorithm. The benefit of the research was to anticipate the disasters based on the association rules found

    EFFICIENCY OF THREE BINDING AGENTS ON THE IMMOBILIZATION OF CADMIUM IN SOILS UNDER MEDICINAL AND SPICE PLANTS CULTIVATION IN AGRO-FORESTRY SYSTEMS

    The soil is an important resource, which sustains life on the planet. However, its contamination with Cadmium (Cd) may represent a huge threat to all the chain of living beings. Efforts have been done to minimize soil pollution with trace metals, as well as to amend those soils that are already polluted. This study was conducted aiming to determine the efficiency of three binding agents on the immobilization of Cd in three soil types collected from Karanganyar. Soil samples were collected from the topsoil (30 cm) and analyzed in the laboratory for pH, SOM, CTC, soil texture and initial Cd content before treatment. The experimental design was Completely Randomized (3 soil types; 3 adsorbents; 3 replications), and incubated for 24 days in the laboratory. After incubation, pH and Cd content were measured and ANOVA and Tukey’s test were performed. The results showed that Dolomite was the best binding agent on immobilization of Cd (95.45%) in each soil, followed by organic fertilizer (92.64%) and charcoal (91.53%). However, in general, all the binding agents showed remarkable efficiency on Cd immobilization in the three soil types. To sum up, this research may positively boost agricultural systems, which is determinant for sustainable development, in particular in developing countries worldwide. In addition, the outcomes may have a great impact on the reduction of soil pollution with agrochemicals and heavy metals. On the other hand, there is a potential to keep and restore ecological sustainability. Apart from this, also could minimize to some extent, climate change and global warming issues through multi-planting strategies, while significantly contributing to achieving food security and economic stability, as well as addressing poverty issues in rural areas

    MAPPING OF SOIL DEGRADATION POTENCY IN PADDY FIELD WONOGIRI, INDONESIA

    Sustainability of paddy field becomes the main concern as the media of biomass production, thus it is needed a data and information about land characteristics to find out its degradation. Mapping of soil degradation potency in paddy field is an identification of initial soil condition to discover the land degradation potency. Mapping was done by overlaying map of soil, slope, rainfall and land use with standard procedures to obtain its value and status of soil degradation potency. Area mapping is an effective land for biomass production (natural forest, mixed farm, savanna, paddy field, shrub and dry field) with approximately 43,291.00 hectares (ha) in Sidoharjo, Girimarto, Jatipurno, Jatisrono, Jatiroto, Tirtomoyo, Nguntoronadi and Ngadirojo District. The result shows that soil degradation potency (SDP) in Districts of Sidoharjo, Girimarto, Jatipurno, Jatisrono, Jatiroto, Tirtomoyo, Nguntoronadi and Ngadirojo are very low (DP I) 0.00 ha (0.00%), low (DP II) 20,702.47 ha (47.82%), moderate (DP III) 15,823.80 ha (36,55%), high (DP IV) 6,764.73 ha (15.63%) and very high (DP V) 0.00 ha (0.00%). Paddy field is 22,036.26 ha or about 50.90% of all area as effective biomass production, its SDP considers as low (DP II) 16,021.04 ha (37.01%) and moderate (DP III) 6,015.22 ha (13,89%). Paddy field has a low SDP because it is commonly lies on flat area and conservation method by the farmer is maintaining the paddy bund and terrace. This study needs an advanced study to identify actual SDP through detail verification in the field, and also support by soil sample analysis in the laboratory.

    Improvement Soil Biology Characteristics of Paddy Field by System of Rice Intensification

    The aim of the research was to test the System of Rice Intensification (SRI) method in improving the biological properties of paddy soil. The indicators of improvement were measured by the number of earthworm feces (cast), and the population of some microbial and nutrient content in the cast. The experiments were performed by comparing the three methods, namely: (1) SRI, (2) semi-conventional, and (3) conventional, using Randomized Completely Block Design. Each treatment was repeated nine times. The experiments were performed in the paddy fields belonging to farmers in Sukoharjo, Central Java. The result showed that the SRI (application of 1 tons ha-1 of vermicompost + 50% of inorganic fertilizer dosage) tends to increase the number of earthworms cast. It is an indicator of earthworm activity in soil. Earthworms cast contains more phosphate solubilizing  bacteria (12.98 x 1010cfu) and N content (1.23%) compared to its surrounding soil. There is a close functional relation between earthworms cast with total tiller number. SRI method is better than the other two methods to improve the biological characteristics of paddy soil that has the potential to maintain the sustainability of soil productivity

    SITE-SPECIFIC FERTILIZATION FOR LOWLAND RICE PRODUCTION IN WEST KALIMANTAN

    Application of fertilizer recommendations until now is generally treated equally in all locations. The variety of soil fertility in location was not relevant to use one dosage fertilizer recommendation. The purpose of this study was determine rice of recommendation dosage of NPK phonska fertilizer in rice fields. This study compared the fertilization treatments of NPK phonska based on the method of field experiments in rice fields by using a randomized block design, where each treatment was repeated four times. The treatment were P0 : without NPK Phonska and Urea fertilizer (control), P1 : NPK Phonska 300 kg ha-1 and Urea  200 kg ha-1, P2 : NPK Phonska 200 kg ha-1 and Urea  235 kg ha-1, P3 : NPK Phonska 250 kg ha-1 and Urea  220 kg ha-1, P4 : NPK Phonska 350 kg ha-1 and Urea  180 kg ha-1. The results showed plant highest in the treatment of P2 at 106 cm, where the fertilization treatment of  NPK Phonska at 200 kg ha-1 and Urea at 235 kg ha-1. The fertilization with NPK Ponska 350 kg ha-1 and Urea 180 kg ha-1 (P4) showed the most number of tillers at 12.2 tillers and the highest of grain weight per hill at 29 grams.  It can produce dry grain (stand for 14%) at 7.5 t ha-1 and the profits is IDR 22,773,581,00

    Effect of Various Growing Media and Fertilizer Levels on Growth of Antherura rubra Lour.

    Antherura rubra Lour. is one of the critical plant at Cibodas Botanical Garden. Study  of cultivation through vegetative propagation of A. Rubra is rare. Therefore, the research of A. rubra on various of media and inorganic fertilizers is required  to conserve  A.rubra at Cibodas Botanical Garden. This study was conducted at the Nursery - Cibodas Botanic Garden for 10 months. The experiment was conducted in randomized block design (RBD) with four replications. Treatments consisted of three combinations of natural compost media with three levels of inorganic fertilizer (0, 1, and 2 dose of level), three katalek compost combination with three levels of inorganic fertilizer and a control (top soil without inorganic fertilizers). Variable tested consists of plant height, number of leaves, and dry weight shoot and root as an indicator of growth A. rubra Lour. The results showed that the growth of seedlings A. rubra Lour. on katalek compost  media's with one dose of levels inorganic fertilizer growth better than other treatments
