    Reflections of Enculturation and Acculturation in Chabacano Folklores of Zamboanga City

    This qualitative, descriptive, and analytical research study aimed to describe the perception of Zamboangueño-Chabacano through a sociological lens. The examination of the data centers on Chabacano folklore gathered from several trustworthy sources. The enculturation and acculturation types of culture were used to categorize these non-material cultures. It is essential to comprehend Zamboangueo-Chabacano culture to preserve cultural traditions and develop programs that may be used in the classroom to promote greater literacy. Seventeen of the thirty-five described civilizations are enculturated, while 18 are acculturated. The Chabacano folklores that best capture the Zamboangueo-Chabacano culture emphasize respect for other people's languages, races, and cities, a firm belief in God, perseverance, diligence, courage, resourcefulness, and an acceptance of paranormal phenomena (kababalaghan). The research's findings corroborate the idea that the influence of Spanish culture and great devotion to Catholicism played an essential role in the lives of the Zamboangueño-Chabacano by showing that the majority of the culture depicted in Chabacano folklore is acculturation

    Natural convection in integrated wind tower into a high storied building is numerically investigated by solving natural convection equations with the Boussinesq approximation. The present investigation deals with velocity and temperature distribution in a wind tower integrated into a high building divided into three stories; in which the upper horizontal heated wall is vented by a fresh air jet entranced by the wind tower and hot waste air exits from different outlet openings. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the Performance of integrated wind tower into the storied building, thus providing a wind and buoyancy factors for induced natural ventilation to drive air flow through the floors. Numerical solutions of the Navier Stokes equations and energy equation have been solved by the Thomas’ algorithm. Solutions are presented for various geometrical aspect ratios and for different values of Grashof and Reynolds numbers. The results are presented in terms of streamlines, isotherms, velocity, and heat transfer intensity versus the governing control parameters in detail

    Words Expressing Garlic and Dill Parts in Vietnamese and Laos Reflect MERONYMY

    This article examines words expressing garlic and dill parts in Vietnamese and Laos reflect meronymy. The underlying theory of the article is the concept of the meaning of words in the system, meronymy. The survey paper has 124 Vietnamese words and 117 Laos words, reflecting the metonymy of words expressing garlic and dill parts. The research methods used by the article are the field linguistic, descriptive, and comparative-contrastive methods. The article establishes lexical gaps of words expressing garlic and dill parts in Vietnamese and Laos. The survey data shows that the linguistic picture of the word expressing garlic and dill in Vietnamese is like Laos (because the number of holonyms in Vietnamese is equivalent to Laos). However, the depth of classification of objective reality in Vietnamese is more detailed, specific, and rich than in Laos (because the number of words only classified in Vietnamese is greater than in Laos)

    Mitigating Risk in Construction Business: The Impact of Contractor Business Size and Risk Location (Office and Field)

    This study aims to evaluate the relationship between the size of the construction business and the location of the risk with the risks that arise in construction projects in Indonesia. The method used is two-way anova analysis by sampling 90 construction projects in Indonesia. The independent variable in this study is the size of the construction business and the location of the risk, while the dependent variable is the risk on the construction project. The results showed that there is a significant relationship between the size of the construction business and the risks of construction projects in Indonesia. In addition, there is also a significant relationship between the location of risks and risks in construction projects in Indonesia. However, there was no significant interaction between the size of the construction business and the location of risk to risk in construction projects in Indonesia. This research contributes to the construction industry in Indonesia in evaluating the factors that affect risk in construction projects. By knowing the relationship between the size of the construction business and the location of the risk with the risk on the construction project, the contractor company can improve the risk management strategy to minimize the risk to the construction project in the future. Future research may consider other variables such as contractor experience and expertise as well as external factors such as market and political conditions to better understand the factors that influence risk in construction projects in Indonesia

    Development and Validation of Motivational Manipulative Learning Materials (MMLMs) for the Least-Learned Competencies of Grade 9 Trigonometry

    This study presents the development and validation of Motivational Manipulative Learning Materials (MMLMs) aimed at improving the least-learned competencies in Grade 9 trigonometry. The study focuses on enhancing mathematics performance, addressing teaching challenges, and emphasizing real-life applications of trigonometry. Specifically, the competencies identified as least developed include effectively illustrating the six trigonometric ratios and accurately determining the trigonometric ratios of special angles. The study utilizes the combined Mean Percentage Score (MPS) to identify the least-learned skill and to inform the creation of the MMLMs. The developed MMLMs, named "Wheel of the Trigonometric Values," undergo validation by usability and content experts. The content validity criteria, including alignment and organization, demonstrate high mean scores, indicating the suitability of the MMLMs for Grade 9 Math. Similarly, the usability validation criteria, such as "other factors" and "expenses," receive positive mean scores. The evaluations from the experts suggest that the MMLMs are highly suitable and appropriate for enhancing the teaching and learning experience in Grade 9 Math. The findings of this study contribute to the field of mathematics education by providing educators with effective tools to address the least-learned competencies in trigonometry, promoting student engagement and understanding. Future research can explore the implementation and impact of the MMLMs in classroom settings to further assess their effectiveness in improving trigonometry learning outcomes

    Teachers'Technological Pedagogical and Content Knowledge( TPACK) and Implementation Capacity for Distance Learning Modalities

    The primary aim of this study is to determine the teachers' Technological Pedagogical and Content Knowledge (TPACK) and their implementation capacity for distance learning. Specifically, this paper intends to design a capability-building enhancement program for basic education science teachers to implement distance learning. The study used a descriptive-correlational research design involving 35 elementary and high school science teachers from the Southwest District of Bayugan City Division. It employed frequency, percentages, a weighted mean, and Pearson's r for the data analysis. The data revealed that most science teachers had received less training in science and ICT. Compared to other TPACK domains, the participants had the lowest technological knowledge (TK) level regarding digital technologies. There is a highly significant relationship between content knowledge (CK) and the number of relevant training sessions attended in science. Moreover, the data show a highly significant positive relationship between teachers' TPACK and implementation capacity for distance learning (R=0.476, p<0.01). With the preceding information, the researcher proposed a capacity enhancement program based on the teachers' TPACK level and their ability to put it into practice in distance learning. It intends to soothe primary education teachers' level of TPACK and foster the amplification of skills that suit their diverse professional profiles

    Studying the Effects of Organic and Hydraulic Shock Loads on the Membrane Bioreactor (MBR) By Using GPS-X Mathematical Model

    Abstract: Membrane-based systems (MBR) used in wastewater treatment have many advantages over conventional activated sludge processes. They have proven to be very effective in removing organic and inorganic contaminants as well as biological entities from water. The objective of this work is to propose an optimal operation of the bioreactor after having detailed in the relationships between the nature of the sludge, its conditions is obtaining the performance of the membrane using a simulation software (GPS-X). The effects of organic and hydraulic shock loads on the MBR system were also studied. The GPS-X simulation program was used in this study to simulate the membrane bioreactor setup. The BOD removal system we used was 78%. In addition, the MBR system has a significant capacity due to the hydraulic shock load of the operation and the process efficiency for the MBR installation due to this shock load based on BOD removal was reduced up to 65%. The MBR system has a good ability to handle the organic shock loads of the operation with no significant loss in treatment efficiency. The treatment efficiency of the MBR system, due to organic shock loads based on BOD removal, decreased slightly to 80%, however, it is shown how their properties determine the extent of sludge fouling in the membrane. Based on these results, operational conditions favoring a reduction of fouling are proposed. Keywords: Wastewater, Membrane Bioreactor (MBR), GPS-X Model, Shock Loads, Simulation

    Richard Lovelace's Selected Animal Fables and the Transformation of the Emblem Tradition

    It is difficult, if not impossible to give a comprehensive, cogent definition of the ‘emblem’ to accommodate its diversity as a genre, a definition that covers all the works produced under the name emblem during the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. It is, therefore, neither necessary nor possible here to discuss definitions for such a large and eclectic field like the emblem tradition. Soon after its emergence, the emblem became an accepted form and exercised a vast influence over literature, art, and decoration of the period.  Many writers were fascinated by it, including English poet Richard Lovelace (1616-1657), who used strategies of emblem books in his representation of creatures by integrating pictures and texts in a genre. This paper is an attempt to read Lovelace's poems The Grasshopper, A Fly Caught in a Cobweb, The Ant, The Snayl ‘The Snail’, and The Falcon in the light of the emblem tradition, showing how Lovelace uses the tradition. Focusing on his animal fables, the paper illustrates the different ways in which Lovelace employs or transforms the strategies of emblem books. Various references will be made to the poems to explain how the poet capitalises on the emblem heritage, while at the same time adapting it by rewriting the original story behind the emblem to channel his staunch political views in favour of the Royalists. The paper contends that, without referring to the emblem legacy accessible to Lovelace, certain aspects of his poetry would remain ambiguous

    Monte Carlo Simulation Study on the Optimal Neutron Energy and Boron Concentration for SARS-COV-2 Inactivation through BNCT

    Researchers have been exploring various radiation therapies to treat COVID-19 patients ranging from mild to severe. One technique that has shown promise is Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT). This therapy involves administering of 10B isotope to the targeted area, which is then exposed to chargeless neutrons. These neutrons can be absorbed by areas with high concentrations of 10B. When the neutrons react with the 10B (10B + n?7Li + 4He reaction), it results in the transfer of highly ionizing energy, causing confined lethality and destroying the targeted area. In this study, we used the Particle and Heavy Ion Transport Code System simulation to evaluate whether Boron Neutron Capture Therapy could be effective as an anti-viral therapy. The study involves creating a model of the SAR-COV-2 target phantom's geometry and defining its chemical composition to collect data. It was found out that when tested at different neutron energies and concentrations (30 ppm, 50 ppm, and 100 ppm), a sufficient amount of dose to cause biological damage to the Sars-CoV-2 enveloped protein could be achieved with 30 ppm boron concentration and a neutron energy of 1.0x10-10 MeV
