Optimization of the Coagulation-flocculation Process Using Ferric Chloride and Phosphate for the Reduction of Contaminants in the Slaughterhouses Wastewater
In this work, the coagulation-flocculation process was optimized using ferric chloride and phosphate for the reduction of pollutants in the wastewater from the Conchucos S.A., Lima. Parameters were measured in percentage reduction of chemical oxygen demand (COD), turbidity (NTU) and total phosphorus (PT mg/L), adding ferric chloride as coagulant and potassium dihydrogen phosphate as flocculant. The effects of four independent variables were investigated: ferric chloride dose (500-700 ppm), phosphate dose (700-900 mg/L), fast agitation speed (250-320 rpm) and slow agitation speed (90-100 rpm). The experimental data were optimized by the response surface method using a central composite design. The results show that the statistical models obtained F-values of 3.33, 4.27 and 4.16 for the percent reduction of COD, turbidity and total phosphorus, respectively. Furthermore, the statistical models developed to predict the responses were confirmed by significant probability values (p<0.05). On the fit of the models, an R2 of 0.61, 0.66 and 0.67 are shown for COD, turbidity and total phosphorus percentage, respectively. The optimum conditions were found experimentally at 700 ppm of ferric chloride dose, 900 ppm of phosphate, 320 rpm fast speed and 100 rpm for a reduction of 75.46% of COD, 83.47% of turbidity and 44.08% of total phosphorus presenting a desirability of 0.7

However, there is a dearth of exploratory endeavors in the study of the relationships between customer experience, brand innovativeness, word of mouth, advertising, corporate social responsibility, and customer-based brand equity in the context of retail banking sector in developing nations. Therefore, the present study aims to examine the roles of customer experience, brand innovativeness, word of mouth, and advertising in customer-based brand equity, and evaluate the moderating effect of corporate social responsibility on the relationships in the Chinese retail banking context. The objectives of the study are to explore the factors affecting customer-based brand equity and assess the moderating effect of corporate social responsibility on the relationships between brand influencing factors and customer-based brand equity. A quantitative survey research method was adopted to achieve the research objectives. A total of 389 samples were employed in the data analysis of the present study. The empirical results show that corporate social responsibility displays significant moderating effect on the influences of brand innovativeness, word of mouth, and advertising on customer-based brand equity. Nevertheless, empirical results showed that the moderating effect of corporate social responsibility on the relationship between customer experience and customer-based brand equity is insignificant. With the R2 value of 79 percent that exhibits satisfactory explanatory power obtained in the model, this study has valuable theoretical and practical implications. Theoretically, the present study develops a theoretical model that incorporates corporate social responsibility as a moderator on the effects of factors influencing customer-based brand equity. Practically, the study acknowledges the important roles of corporate social responsibility in building customer-based brand equity and corporate sustainability.
ETHERSTWEB – An Ethereum-Based Distributed Application for User Information Trustworthiness Verification
Fake news and misinformation are prevalent on the Internet in this day and age. The popularity of social media such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok has encouraged the people to share news or information over Internet without knowing whether it is a truth or fake information. The outbreak of COVID-19 affected the social activities of all levels of society as people were asked to stay at home to self-quarantine. It indirectly encourages the growth of the social activities online. Even though COVID- 19 is no longer a big threat to the world, people already used to rely on the Internet for the daily activities. Therefore, the trustworthy of the information on the Internet is getting crucial. ETHERST is a blockchain- based PKI that implemented rewarding and punishment mechanism using Ethereum ECR-20 token named PKIToken to improve the trustworthiness of information published by the blockchain nodes. In this paper, we implement an Ethereum-based distributed application (dapp) that allowed the community members to act on trusting and untrusting on information provided by any of the members. With the ETHERST framework as the backend, the ETHERSTWEB is equipped with the rewarding and punishment mechanism to keep the community from misusing the trusting and untrusting action to maintain the trustworthiness of information of a member. With the PKIToken amount level implemented in the backend, it provides an index to the trustworthiness of a member in the community. It has the advantages over the existing rating or review systems that are commonly implemented in many traditional web applications.
The Impact of the Covid-19 Pandemic on Air Traffic in the Asian Region: How the Aviation Industry Adapted Throughout the Pandemic
The COVID-19 pandemic continues to pose a global threat, profoundly impacting various sectors, including the aviation industry. This research aims to uncover the impact of the pandemic on the aviation sector in the Asian region. Specifically, it explores the mandatory compliance of social measures and vaccination requirements imposed by governments, which have become crucial factors determining the feasibility of direct or international flights. The analysis focuses on several key aspects, including air traffic data, daily COVID-19 cases, vaccination rates, and implemented social measures within the Asian region. By examining the air traffic of each successful flight from departure to arrival, valuable insights into the aviation industry's perseverance throughout the pandemic are generated. Preliminary findings reveal a sharp decline in air traffic volume by -58.68% in 2020 compared to the previous year, attributed to the significant number of COVID-19 cases reported by December 31, 2020 (totaling 19,892,098 cases). However, the deployment of vaccination doses in 2021 has resulted in a modest recovery, with air traffic volume increasing by 12.64% compared to 2020. This recovery has prompted several countries to cautiously reopen borders and transition towards the recovery phases of the pandemic, despite the ongoing prevalence of COVID-19 cases. The research provides insights into the resilience and adaptability of the aviation industry, shedding light on the challenges faced and opportunities presented during the COVID-19 pandemic. By understanding the impact of social measures and vaccination requirements, stakeholders in the aviation sector can formulate strategies to navigate the current crisis and prepare for potential future disruptions. The findings contribute to the sustainable recovery of the aviation industry by informing policymakers, airlines, and other stakeholders about the factors influencing air travel in the Asian region. Advancing Retail Operations: A Customizable IoT-Based Smart Inventory System
The retail sector has encountered formidable challenges in recent years, particularly concerning food sustainability and the need for reduced manpower, which have been further exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. The inventory management process involves critical tasks such as environment checking, product inspection, and stock arrangement, all of which are essential for maintaining product quality. Price label management is another crucial aspect of retail operations, providing key information to potential customers. However, the labor-intensive process of installing and replacing price labels, as well as adapting to market trends, poses efficiency and sustainability concerns. To address the aforementioned challenges, we have proposed an IoT-based inventory management system that consists of three interconnected components: a smart shelf that keeps real-time track of humidity, temperature, and air index; electronic shelf labeling that allows for easy updating of product information from mobile/PC devices; and RFID-based stock sorting to track product in/out and location. Hence, the proposed integrated solution significantly enhances operational efficiency, reduces overall workload, optimizes inventory management tasks, streamlines operations, and mitigates financial losses associated with inefficient processes
The Role of Casting Methods in Preserving Traditional Martial Arts through Motion Capture Technology
This paper explores the integration of casting methods, specifically audition, within the theoretical framework of motion capture technology for the preservation and safeguarding of traditional martial arts. Traditional martial arts performances hold immense cultural value, and their accurate representation is crucial to ensure the preservation of intangible cultural heritage. However, the use of motion capture technology introduces risks, such as the potential loss of critical metadata, which can lead to inaccuracies and undermine the reliability of the captured data. To mitigate this risk, casting becomes an indispensable measure to ensure precise and dependable motion capture. By integrating casting techniques, such as engaging in traditional martial arts performances and including detailed descriptions of movements in the metadata, motion capture practitioners can enhance the preservation of cultural heritage. This research highlights the significance of casting techniques in motion capture practices for the faithful portrayal of traditional martial arts performances, capturing their nuances, and providing insights into their historical and cultural contexts. Acknowledging the importance of casting in motion capture practices is vital to guarantee the preservation and safeguarding of traditional martial arts for future generations
Hybrid Learning for Educators and Students: A Review Study
In this post COVID-19 pandemic era, Hybrid Learning (HL) has been identified as a proficient approach to education by many scholars. During the final stages of the pandemic, stakeholders in the education sector faced with the challenges to adapt and accommodate both in-person and online students simultaneously. Hybrid learning is now common to educators and students in higher education. The purpose of this paper is to examine the perception of educators and students on hybrid learning through the review of recent HL related literature. Literature suggests some challenges of HL for students and educators. The need for design of HL such as integrating the presence concept into hybrid classes is essential. Both parties’ viewpoints on HL can serve as an input for decision makers for better policies and outcomes on higher education systems, especially on hybrid and flexible learning. More research on the ‘presence’ concept are to be conducted to create a conducive HLE in the digital era
Settlement of Documentary Credit Disputes under DOCDEX System
This study aims to present the unique product of the International Chamber of Commerce for dispute resolution in the area of trade finance, namely Documentary Instruments Dispute Resolution Expertise (DOCDEX). The ICC Banking Commission, together with ICC International Court of Arbitration, has designed these distinct set of rules for documentary credit issues, specifically adapted to resolve disputes over interpretation and monitoring of documentary credit implementations. The DOCDEX took effect in 1997 and was reviewed with effect from 2002. According to the DOCDEX, the ICC will engage independent experts who will make their decision. This decision will be considered by the ICC Banking Commission’s technical adviser to ensure that it is in line with the other opinions of the ICC. The decision will be made on the basis of the material provided by the parties, including their arguments. The study discusses the functioning of the DOCDEX Rules, how a DOCDEX decision is made and what law is applicable on the system. Moreover, attention is devoted to an exploration of the difference between DOCDEX system and arbitration. Lastly, the study found that the DOCDEX decision is not binding on the parties but can even more likely be used as evidence if the dispute is referred to a court or an arbitration tribunal
Design of the Multi-purpose Marketing Data Analysis Program: Using actual online sales data
Marketing is a strategy for the sale of goods. Most shopping malls and vendors value this, and it is also a measure of the company's success. To this end, strategies are established through marketing departments or specialized companies, and related data is collected directly. Data analysis uses some tools, but in the end, data must be collected directly, and most of the tools that collect automatically only use SNS networks. In this paper, we present a design method for programs that can be fundamentally utilized without customizing or providing the functions of existing data analysis tools. In the program, HTML structures for commonly used shopping malls, not SNS, are predefined and prepared for immediate use of crawling techniques, and some textual data are generated as Excel files. This can be applied in real time, and some artificial intelligence and emotional analysis are applied to the image to help make an objective evaluation.
