MSU Robotics: Technical Report
This 25-page report, published by Maritime State University, describes the design and construction of the underwater remotely operated vehicle (ROV) created by the MSU Robotics team for the Telepresence Explorer Class of the 2022 MATE ROV competition. MATE ROV is a global competition that challenges STEM students to build underwater ROVs to complete challenges. The competition is split into the following classes based on build complexity: Explorer, Ranger, Pioneer, Navigator, and Scout.The report begins by introducing MSU Robotics and their ROV, followed by an analysis of the construction of the team's ROV, which covers payload, the design process (propulsion steering complex, electronics housing, etc.), ROV software, mission specific tools (manipulator, camera, etc.), and troubleshooting methods. Also discussed is safety, conclusions, references, acknowledgment, and a reflection on working in a team to develop an ROV. The following appendices are included: Complete architecture of the executing software for ROV, System integrated diagram, and Checklist (pre-launch, water test, job runtime check, and post-job check).Manuals for each competition class and technical reports from other teams are available to view separately
