    Yildiz CAS Marine: Technical Report

    This 25-page report, published by Yıldız Technical University, describes the design and construction of the underwater remotely operated vehicle (ROV) created by the Yildiz CAS Marine team for the Telepresence Explorer Class of the 2022 MATE ROV competition. MATE ROV is a global competition that challenges STEM students to build underwater ROVs to complete challenges. The competition is split into the following classes based on build complexity: Explorer, Ranger, Pioneer, Navigator, and Scout.The report begins with an abstract introducing Yildiz CAS Marine and their ROV. Following the abstract is an analysis of ROV's design, discussing the design rationale, mechanical design (manufacturing process, chassis, etc.), electrical system rationale (power distribution, CASMarine motherboard), software (control software, communication software), tools (servo casting, autonomous mapping, etc.), and innovations.     This 80-page manual, from the Marine Advanced Technology Education (MATE) Center, was provided to those competing in the Pioneer Class at the MATE ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle) 2022 competition. Every year, the "competition challenges students to build a ROV to tackle tasks based on the real world." The competition is divided into the following competition classes: Explorer, Ranger, Pioneer, Navigator, and Scout. These classes are "based on the level of complexity required to build the vehicle." For 2022, participants of each competition class were challenged to design and build ROVs to complete tasks relating to the three following categories: Marine Renewable Energy, Offshore Aquaculture and Blue Carbon, and Antarctica Then and Now: Endurance22 and MATE Floats!This manual provides all the rules, requirements, and guidelines for teams competing in the Pioneer Class of the competition.     This collection was developed by the National Convergence Technology Center (CTC) in conjunction with the Center for Occupational Research and Development (CORD) to provide a detailed guide for implementing the Business and Industry Leadership Team (BILT) model. The BILT model "puts businesses in a co-leadership role for college technical programs so they have direct input into the knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) that program graduates should possess 12-36 months into the future ultimately producing candidates the businesses are much more likely to hire."The collection is composed of a document about BILT implementation, slide deck templates, and script template and tip sheets. The 21-page BILT implementation document provides a detailed guide for implementing the BILT model.  Specifically, professionals can follow this document step by step to either convert a traditional business council into a more engaged BILT or create a BILT from scratch. The BILT model encourages more engagement from an employer group so that it can "co-lead" a technical program by playing an active role in helping steer curriculum to meet workforce needs. The slide deck templates cover an initial orientation talk and a KSA voting meeting.
