What comprises social intelligence and can it predict knowledge sharing among diverse information professionals?

    No full text
Limited studies have examined the factor structure of a social intelligence measure in multigroup settings and its relationships with information professionals\u27 knowledge sharing experiences and rationales. Responses from a total of 240 information professionals employed at memory institutions in the US and Korea were analyzed. The findings showed that a parsimonious, re-specified model fit the three-factor structure of the Tromsø Social Intelligence Scale, with weak invariance across the demographic backgrounds of information professionals. The social awareness factor was notably different across culture and gender groups. The study also found that, while social intelligence is not associated with knowledge sharing experience or reasons for sharing knowledge, the reasons were associated with demographic background, particularly with culture and gender. The current study is unique in that it evaluated social intelligence via multigroup confirmatory factor analysis with data from information professionals, which has been called for but is yet rare in the literature

Supporting Reading in Elementary Music Classroom

Many educators are posed with the task of supporting reading and math proficiencies of students, particularly in elementary school settings. It is the educator’s responsibility to take active part in the holistic growth of students. As music teachers, how can reading be intertwined in a way that can build a student’s reading score? Should there be additional learning taking place, or do music class curricula integrate reading well? Does music class actually have an effect on student reading skills? Supporting Reading with Music: Music Education and How It Supports Reading Proficiencies in Elementary School Students is a literature review that serves as an opportunity for Elementary Music Educators to take notice at their abilities to support reading skills in elementary school students. Gathering resources from databases such a as Galileo: Georgia’s Virtual Library, and Journal Storage, JSTOR, documents have been selected that feature a wide range of topics dealing with music and reading proficiency. Offering practical applications, research studies, and positive support and feedback, the review dives into the how of supporting reading through music classes. This review focuses on general music education, but it can also be applied, in some ways, to individualized music lessons. Although there are some researchers who oppose the idea of reading being supported through music, this review uncovers similarities and connections between the two that show music as a supporter of increasing reading proficiencies, from reading lyrics to sound and syllable creation

Wired: Sterile 2022 Mixed media works consisting of resin, acrylic, and three-dimensional objects In Wired, a series of mixed media works consisting of resin, acrylic, and three-dimensional objects, I bring awareness to mental health by illustrating pills in patterns. Scattered pills are a common thread among the works to illustrate that medication is the primary route as opposed to nontraditional therapy, such as cognitive behavioral. With this, I briefly delve into chemical imbalances as a side effect. My work invites the viewer to think and experience second hand the life of the one in five adults who live with mental illness. I chose to work symbolically to keep the viewer’s attention on the important message rather than the intricacy of my work. My work is easy to digest but facilitates discussion as it lingers in the mind.https://kb.gcsu.edu/abundance/1019/thumbnail.jp

Custom Elements Shoe Collection: Detail 3

Custom Elements Shoe Collection: Detail 3 2022 Acrylic Leather paint and wood on leather shoes Sneaker Culture has always been around but in the past couple years it has become increasingly popular. Though the idea of customizing sneakers has caused quite a stir in the community with certain brands not wanting people to put their own designs onto a silhouette they created. Customizing is all about adding your own flare to express yourself and controlling how people perceive you. For as long as I can remember I have always been into two things: art and shoes. So, when I discovered that I could put my own art on my shoes I always wanted to try it. When I decided to do this project for my capstone, I wanted to represent what art is at its core. The Elements of Art are the foundation of any piece regardless of medium which is why they represent what art truly is and can be. Yaacov Agam said “There are two distinct languages. There is the verbal, which separates people... and there is the visual that is understood by everybody”. I believe that the Elements of Art are that visual language that allows everyone to understand art. For each shoe I painted a design that is inspired by the Elements of Art and gives each shoe its own personality.https://kb.gcsu.edu/abundance/1008/thumbnail.jp

Potential’s Perspective Detail 1 Linocut & digital prints Dimensions Variable 2022 By using printmaking as well as digital printing, I will compare people to keys and containers. In combining these themes, I have created three strong black and white images along with a colored pattern. The three images will be printed onto paper using linoleum blocks and print screens, then framed and mounted atop sheets of personally designed wallpaper. I plan to print on repositionable paper for the wallpaper on the central wall and below the windows. On the outer walls, I will digitally print my pattern onto thin and flowy paper which will cascade down onto the floor of MoFA.https://kb.gcsu.edu/abundance/1002/thumbnail.jp
