This paper is to study about Patients with Complex Diseases from the stand point of social welfare science. SMON "subacute myelo-optico neuropathy" disease problem provided Japanese Complex Disease laws in 1972,and they are still in effect. In Japan people are beginning to understand that Patients with Complex Diseases are physically handicapped people who require nursing care. A Study on Recognition and Understandings of their Health and their Impressions of the Medical Departments among the Students in Junior Colleges and Professional Schools
Get PDFTo develop better understanding for health among people is the most important problem in the aging society, as well as all generations seeking for the "Quality of Life" (QOL). Thus, we examined the recognition and the understandings of their health conditions, daily dentistry health practices and their impressions of medical departments by showing questionnaires to 225 students in the junior colleges and the professional schools. The findings were follows; 1) About 80% of students replied "good" in their health conditions and there had been no significant differences between the male and the female. However , the female students recognized and understood much more clearly their health conditions than the male students. 2) About 90% of both male and female students had no physical difficulties in their daily activities but some of the male complained due to the troubles in the jobs and daily activities. 3) About 25-35% of the male and about 20-24% of the female students were suffered from their mentally unstable conditions but there had been no significant differences between both of them. However, in the response on the questionnaire asking them "being happy or not", the numbers of the female feeling "happy "were much higher than the male students. 4) About 27% of male and female students replied that they had always taken care of their dental health. 5) In the questionnaires for asking the students whether they were familiar, or concerned with nine medical departments such as internal medicine, surgery, ophthalmology, dentistry, etc., the male students were familiar, or concerned with the plastic surgery and the female were familiar, or concerned with the dermatology.14KJ00005175511journal articl
