Nutrition Education with Lunch Box Menu : Part 2
The authors had 68 students majoring in Food and Nutrition at our university sketch the contents of ideal lunches, which were improved from daily lunches to be more desirable, and found the frequency in use of each food group by foodstuff, the number of dishes and the rates of dishes. The results were as follows : 1) For cereals, milled rice was mostly used both in daily and ideal lunches and most often used as white boiled rice. 2) For fishes, meats and eggs, the same foodstuffs, salmon, chicken meat and eggs, were often used both in daily and ideal lunches. The most frequent dishes were fish broiled with salt, deep-fried chicken and omelet which were cooked with a single foodstuff without using other foodstuffs in both lunches. 3) For green and yellow vegetables and other vegetables, cherry tomatoes and lettuce were often used for garnish in dairy lunches. In ideal lunches, carrots and cucumbers were widely used in such dishes as salad, marinated food and stir-fried food. 4) With respect to the specific surface ratio of lunches, the ratio of "staple food 3:main dish 1:side dish 2," which is said to be the most desirable balance, occupied 75% both in daily and ideal lunches.6KJ00005175624journal articl

On the Invention of English Materials for Early Childhood Education : For the Introduction of Finger Rhymes of "Koala" and "Wombat"
An Australian kindergarten director visited a Yochien (kindergarten) in Nagoya ten years ago. At that time she brought one music tape as a souvenir (fig.1). The content is sixteen songs, whose titles are the names of Australian indigenous animals and birds'. kangaroo, wombat, possum, emu, koala, and so on. In this paper, we have invented the English educational materials. At first we pick out 'koala' and 'wombat' from the tape, and make music scores only using the original music songs, and finally create the finger rhymes. The unique educational materials are designed to develop the English ability for kindergartners and primary schoolchildren.7KJ00005175625journal articl
Tanabe Hajime's Understanding of Kantian Teleology
Tanabe Hajime's Treatise on Kant's Teleology (1924) was very significant in two respects. First, his understanding of Kant's philosophy was well above the common level of Japanese students of that subject at that time. Secondly, that treatise proved to be the turning point in the development of Tanabe's own philosophy. It seems that the encounter with Kantian teleology broke new ground for his philosophical thinking. In fact, after a few years he came to take a great interest in Hegel's dialectical way of thinking. Eventually his philosophy came to assume a different aspect. In this paper I explicate the metamorphosis which Tanabe's way of thinking underwent through his Treatise on Kant's Teleology. As Tanabe states it, teleology, which Kant treats comprehensively in his Critique of the Power of Judgment, includes several parts of various historical origins. The meanings of the purposiveness, discussed in each part, are apparently differentiated. However, Tanabe categorizes the purposiveness discussed in Critique of the Power of Judgment into three types: the formal purposiveness, the inward purposiveness and the self-aware purposiveness, and examines whether the three types form a system of teleology, functioning closely together. I consider in order how Tanabe describes each type of purposiveness and how he succeeds in understanding Kant's teleology as the consistent development of the will of reason. From such consideration I conclude that Tanabe's study of Kantian teleology led him inevitably to the concentration upon a Hegelian dialectical way of thinking. In this way I explain the necessity of his apparent metamorphosis into a dialectical thinker.14KJ00004167087研究論文Research Paperjournal articl
On Passives Occurring in Newspaper Headlines
The purpose of this study is to investigate the passive voice as it occurs in newspaper headlines. The passive voice is often used in headlines in order to highlight the objectivity of a newspaper article. As headlines must be as short as possible, 6y-phrases of agents are omitted as redundant. Declerck (1991) proposes six factors to pick out a passive construction: (1) indefinite or vague agents, (2) self-evident agents, (3) emphasized agents, (4) converted agents, (5) information principle and theme continuity, and (6) heavier agents, which influence or determine the choice of a passive construction. In addition to those mentioned above, three more passive structures can be seen in headlines: (7) participial adjectives expressing feelings, (8) passives using verbs other than be, and (9) sentences beginning with past participles. In this paper, passives are classified and analyzed according to these nine factors.15KJ00004167088研究論文Research Paperjournal articl
