Effect of Aerobic Exercises on Vital Capacity and Body Mass Index of Adults

Effects of Progressive Muscle Relaxation Technique on Mental Skills of Volleyball Players
The present study was conducted to examine the effects of progressive muscle relaxation technique on mental skills of volleyball players. To obtain data for this study, the investigators had selected 20 male subjects were selected randomly from L.N.U.P.E volleyball match practice group in which 10 subjects were in experimental group and 10 subjects acted as control group. The purposive sampling technique was used to obtain the required data. To measure the level of mental skills of the subjects, the mental skills questionnaire constructed by Hardy and Nelson was administered. Analysis of covariance was used to determine significant differences for dependent variables within the two groups. When a significant difference among the group was observed, a pair wise comparison of the groups was done by using post-hoc test to indentify direction and significant differences between the groups. The level of significance was set at 0.05 in order to test the differences to be considered significant. The results revealed that progressive muscular relaxation technique was effective in improving the imagery ability, mental preparation and concentration ability and mental skill of subjects. Though the pre-test and post-test mean difference between control groups has shown marginal improvement as mean difference was found respectively
Effect of Endurance Training program on body composition and blood glucose among medical college students
The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of endurance training on body composition, cardiovascular endurance and blood glucose among medical college students. A total number of 40 male medical students volunteered for the study and they were randomly assigned to either experimental Group („EXP?: N=20) or control Group („CON?: N=20). Physical examination and medical checkup at the initiation of the study yielded normal results in all subjects and none of them received any medication during the period of the study. The experimental group underwent an endurance training program of sloe jogging for a period of 8 weeks, whereas the control group maintained their regular routine activities. The training load was gradually increased with the number of weeks. The subjects of both the groups were tested on body weight, BMI, and fasting blood sugar 24 hours before and after the period of experimentation. The collected data were statistically analyzed by using analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) and the data was analyzed in SPSS statistical computer package. The results of the study showed that there was significant difference among the adjusted post test mean of experimental group and control group in body weight and BMI with no change in blood Glucose

It encompasses some of the best in journalism, broadcasting, electronic communication, marketing, advertising, public relations, visual communication and new media. The stakes for understanding communicative practices may be even greater at the professional level. Especially because professional sports are inextricably linked to the media that broadcast, report, and opine about the games, it is next to impossible to escape the influence of professional sports. Live sporting events more available through satellite providers and Internet feeds, or that fantasy sports have produced an entire industry that is dependent on, but also separate from, sports themselves, or that community officials often insist that the key to urban development or city pride is to invest in a professional sports franchise and/or arena, or that player salaries continue to rise, often driving up the cost of attendance along with them. There are many other features to add to this list. What is critical, once again, is that communication practices are essential to the success of professional sports from expressions of collective identity found at live events to the images produced by sports media to the importance granted to sports in the vitality of a community
Comparative and Interactive Effects of Land-and Aquatic-Based Plyometric Training on Agility and Peak Speed of Elite Young Athletes of the: Sporting Environment
The purpose of the present study was to investigate the effects of a six-week land-and aquatic-based plyometric training on agility and peak speed of elite young athletes.24 male elite young athletes (with average and standard deviation age of 19.16 ± 1.30 year., height 1.715 ± 8.826 m, weight 59.45 ± 8.93 kg) were tested at the beginning of the season. All subjects, after having been informed about the objective and protocol of the study, gave their written consents and the study was approved by Institutional Ethics Committee of Faculty of Sports Medicine and Physiotherapy and Directorate of Sports, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, India. The subjects were randomly assigned into three groups: Land-based plyometric training group (L; n = 08), Aquatic-based plyometric training group(A; n = 08), and control (C; n = 08). Land-and aquatic-based plyometrictraining groupwas subjected to 6-weeks plyometric training twice a week for 35 minutes a day.505 agility test was used to monitor the development of the athlete's speed and agility whereas peak speed test was used to monitor the development of the athlete‘s ability to effectively and efficiently build up acceleration, from standing blocks, to maximum speed. It is concluded that the use of aquatic and land training program is not only to break the monotony of training, but they can also improve the strength of athletes, that ultimately leads to the optimal performance in the sports competition
Managing Sports State Anxiety with Yoga among Athletes – A Probe into Facts
The Purpose of the study was to find out, the intervened effect of yoga on State Anxiety among the peak performers of athletics. The subjects chosen for the study were 30 athletes of different genres from University of Madras, Chennai. Their age ranged between 20 and 25 years. They were randomly divided into two groups of 15 each, one being the experimental group and the other a control group. The experimental group underwent a scheduled yoga practice for a period of 8 weeks, 6 days/week as the control group was on daily regular routine. The status of State Anxiety was measured before (Pre-test) and after (Post-test) the experimental period using Manual of Statetrait Inventory developed by Spielberger (1970). The data were analyzed statistically for significant differences. Later applying analysis of variance and analysis of co-variance (in case of insignificance), significance in variance is shown, and further Scheffe?s test was applied. The result proves that the yogic scheduled practices have made a significant impact on the State Anxiety of the experimental group compared to the control group
Analysis of Moderate Altitude Induced Changes on the Synthesis of Erythropoietin
The present investigation is proposed to elucidate the changes on erythropoietin levels induced by the exposure to Ootacamund. For this purpose, fifteen male handball players in the age group of 20 to 25 years were selected as subjects from Annamalai University, during their competitive season. The erythropoietin was selected as dependent variable and it was appraised using procedures and instruments of scientific standards at Chidamabaram (sea level) and during the sixth hour of acute exposure to Ootacamund (moderate altitude). To compare the changes on erythropoietin at moderate altitude with that of the sea level, „t? test was used. The analysis of data revealed that there is a significant amplification on erythropoietin in response to moderate altitude exposure, since the obtained „t? ratio for 14 degrees of freedom is 11.233 (p < 0.05. Exposure to Ootacamund had an affirmative impact on erythropoietin. This result suggests that exposure to Ootacamund is capable of inducing significant changes on erythropoietin and thereby enhanced aerobic endurance performance of sportsperson
Effect of Selected Yogic Practices and Aerobic Dance on Health Related Physical Fitness Variables among Nicobari Women Students
The purpose of the study was to find out the effect of selected yogic practices and Aerobic dance on health related physical fitness variables among Nicobari women students. Seventy-five students were selected from JNRM College, Port Blair, Andaman& Nicobar Island. The age of the subjects ranged from 18 to 22 years. The selected subjects were divided into two experimental groups and one control group by random. Group I underwent Yogic practices in selected asanas and pranayama; Group II underwent Aerobic dance and Group III acted as Control Group for three alternate days in a week for a period of six weeks. The dependent variables selected for this study were Cardio vascular endurance, Muscular strength/endurance, Flexibility and Body composition. The dependent variables namely Cardio Vascular Endurance measured by Cooper?s 1-mile run/walk test, Flexibility measured by Sit and Reach Test, Muscular Strength/ Endurance measured by Bent Knee Sit ups and Body Composition measured by Skin fold caliper. The data were collected from each subject before and after the training period and statistically analyzed by using dependent „t? test and analysis of covariance (ANCOVA). It was found that Aerobic dance group was found to be better in improving cardio vascular endurance and muscular strength/endurance when compared to the yogic practices group. Yogic practices group was found to be better in improving flexibility when compared to the aerobic training group. Both yogic practices and aerobic dance groups were developed the body composition equally
Influence of Different Intensity Resistance Training on Selected Speed Parameters
The purpose of the study was to examine the influence of different intensity resistance training on selected speed parameters. To achieve this, sixty men students of bachelor‘s degree were selected as subjects at random. The selected subjects were divided into four groups of fifteen subjects each namely, high velocity resistance training followed by speed training group, medium velocity resistance training followed by speed training group, low velocity resistance training followed by speed training group and control group. The experimental groups were trained for four non-alternative days in a week for twelve weeks. Speed, Stride Length and Stride Frequency were selected as criterion variables. The collected data were analyzed statistically by using dependent ?t‘– test to determine the improvements, if any, among the groups; and analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) was used to determine the differences, if any, among the adjusted post-test means on selected dependent variables, separately. The results of the study indicate that the experimental groups have significantly improved on speed, stride length and stride frequency and also indicate that the speed parameters showed significant difference between high velocity resistance training followed by speed training group, medium velocity resistance training followed by speed training group and low velocity resistance training followed by speed training group. It is also found that the improvement caused by high velocity resistance training followed by speed training was greater when compared to the effects caused by both medium and low velocity resistance training followed by speed training
Achilles-Tendon Strain Most Common Injury in Sports; Cause, Symptems and Management
Background: Achilles tendon strain actually identifies itself. First a strain is milder always than a sprain and a strain affects tendons while sprains affect ligaments. A strain involves hyperextension of a tendon or mild tearing of its fibers. Methods: Analytical methods was used for this article by reviewing relevant publications, primarily based on the online sports medicine journals available on Internet, Wikipedia, Elsevier, PubMed, Google Scholar and National Sports Injury Center Saffdarjang Hospital. Conclusion: This review will provide an overview of the Achilles tendon Sprain and their immediate management on playfield. By this sports personals i.e. coach, trainer and player itself would be able to identify this injury. And will give a better understanding about the sign and symptoms of this injury. Approaches should be used to help in sports training and to avoid injury. Good understanding of the injury and their management may be used in the sports to establish safe and effective training guidelines for sportsman
