Poles in the Central Union of Slavic Journalists and the All-Slavic Union of Journalists
Artykuł dotyczy współpracy dziennikarzy polskich z Galicji (Towarzystwo Dziennikarzy Polskich we Lwowie) i Wiednia (Związek Literatów Polskich w Wiedniu) z dziennikarzami innych krajów słowiańskich w ramach Centralnego Związku Dziennikarzy Słowiańskich (Ústřední svaz slovenských novinářů) powołanego w 1902 r. The article discusses the collaboration of Polish journalists from Galicia (Society of Polish Journalists in Lviv) and Vienna (Association of Polish Writers in Vienna) with journalists from other Slavic countries within the framework of the Central Union of Slavic Journalists (Ústřední svaz slovenských novinářů), established in 1902. In 1908, this organization expanded beyond the borders of the Habsburg Monarchy and adopted the name All-Slavic Union of Journalists (Všeslovanský svaz novinářů). Due to the participation of Russian journalists in this initiative, Poles ceased their further involvement. The text highlights the engagement of Polish journalists in the union’s work and profiles some of the most prominent figures among them
Changes in meat quality parameters during the freezing process
Freezing meat is aimed at ensuring shelf life and food safety. The purpose of this study was to present the effect of the meat freezing process on its quality parameters. The research material was pork meat subjected to the freezing process for 1 and 3 months. It was shown that although the freezing process introduces some changes in the structure of meat, it does not significantly affect its quality. Freezing does not disqualify meat from the consumer's point of view, as long as the freezing and storage process is carried out correctly
The relationship between the consumption of traditional Turkish brewing style coffee and other brewing style coffee and HbA1c levels in patients with type 2 diabetes
The protocol for the study was approved by a suitably constituted Ethics Committee (June 2021 with the code 2605) of the institution in which them work was undertaken and the study conformed to the provisions of the Declaration of Helsinki.Introduction and aim. To investigate the relationship between the consumption of traditional Turkish brewing style coffee and other brewing style coffee and hemoglobin A1c:glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) levels in patients with type-2 diabetes mellitus.
Material and methods. One hundred fifty patients were included in the study. The research sample was obtained from a family health center that called İzmir Karşıyaka 16 -Family Health Center in İzmir-Türkiye. Sociodemographic characteristics, medications, diet, nutritional status, self-reported health status, and consumption of Turkish and other coffee consumption style and other beverages of the patients were recorded. HbA1c, high-density lipoprotein (HDL), low-density lipoprotein (LDL), triglyceride, total cholesterol, and fasting plasma glucose levels in the previous year were obtained from medical records. All patients had their HbA1c readings taken on quarterly basis. In addition, routine blood tests, including HbA1c measurements, were conducted every six months as part of the regular follow up at the family health center. The International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) was used to evaluate the daily physical activities of the patients.
Results. The median HbA1c value of the group taking oral antidiabetic drugs was significantly lower than the median HbA1c value of the group using insulin (p=0.012). There was no significant difference in HbA1c levels regarding missing a meal, drinking coffee (sugar-free or not), and physical activity (p>0.05). Correlation analysis showed a significant weak relationship between the amount of Turkish coffee consumption per week and fasting blood glucose level (p=0.041, r=-0.088). There was a negative weak and significant relationship (p<0.05) between HbA1c levels and the amount of Turkish coffee consumption per week (p=0.014). In the exponential regression model, coffee consumption per week explained the HbA1c level in proportion to 2.9% (F=4.386; p=0.038).
Conclusion. Consumption of Turkish coffee was inversely correlated with fasting glucose and HbA1c levels. Future studies are needed to determine the effect of coffee in the treatment of diabetes mellitus
Traditional teaching method versus simulation-based teaching method in the prevention of medication errors among nursing students
All subjects gave their informed consent for inclusion before they participated in the study. The study was conducted in accordance with the Declaration of Helsinki, and the protocol was approved by the Ethics Committee of Mother Theresa post graduate research nstitute of health science ICE committee.Introduction and aim. The effective and safe administration of medication is the responsibility of every health care provider involved in patient care. One of the biggest problems with nursing education is the gap between theory and practice, which pave ways for medication errors to occur at any level of the medication administration process. This can be rectified by using an efficient teaching strategy that harmoniously blends nursing theory and practical skills. the aim of the study was to evaluate the effectiveness of the traditional teaching method versus simulation-based teaching method on level of knowledge, attitude, and practice on prevention of medication errors among nursing students in selected colleges, Puducherry.
Material and methods. The research approach and design used for the study were quantitative approach and quasi-experi mental pre and post-test control group design respectively. The study settings were selected 4 nursing colleges in Puducherry. The sample size was 100 (50 in experimental group I and 50 in experimental group II) which was selected by using simple ran dom and stratified sampling technique. pre-test was done to assess the level of knowledge, attitude and practice on preven tion of medication error for both experimental groups utilizing the self-administered knowledge, attitude questionnaire and checklist. The experimental group I received traditional teaching method and experimental group II received simulation-based teaching method. Post-test was done after one week using the same tool.
Results. The study results revealed that out of 100 nursing students, majority 35 (70%) and 38 (76%) of the nursing students were in the age group of 20–21 years, 40 (80%) and 39 (78%) of them were female, 50 (100%) and 41 (82%) of them were staying as day scholars, 40 (80%) and 41 (82%) had one attempt to clear the pharmacology subject in the experimental group I and II respectively. The level of knowledge, attitude, practice showed a statistically significance difference at p<0.05 between the pre and post-test within the experimental group I and II respectively. The effective mean scores of knowledge, attitude and practice showed a statistically significance difference at p<0.05 between the experimental group I and II respectively, revealed that the simulation-based teaching method was more effective over the traditional teaching method. There was a significant positive correlation at p<0.05 exist between the level of knowledge and attitude, knowledge and practice in the experimental group I. The association between the post-test level of attitude and the gender variable showed a statistically significant at p<0.05 in the experimental group II.
Conclusion. The study concluded that the simulation-based teaching method was effective which can be utilized as a means to educate the nursing students during their academic performance
The effect of thiocetam on the parameters of the nitric oxide system under the conditions of the experimental periodontitis and immobilization stress formation
The study protocol was approved by the Ethical Committee of Danylo Halytsky Lviv National Medical University (protocol No 35; 05.10.2022).Introduction and aim. The aim of this work is to study the parameters of the nitric oxide (NO) system in the blood of guinea pigs under the conditions of the experimental periodontitis (EP) and immobilization stress (IS) formation and to evaluate the effectiveness of thiocetam use.
Material and methods. Experimental studies were performed on 50 guinea pigs (males, body weight 0.18–0.21 kg) which were divided into five groups (10 in each): the first group were intact animals as control; the second experimental group were animals with experimental periodontitis under conditions of immobilization stress (3rd day), the third group included guinea pigs with EP and IS on the 5th day of the combined model process, group IV – animals with EP and IS 15th day (without administration of thiocetam) and group V – animals on the 15th day of experiment with EP and IS after use of thiocetam.
Results. As a result of this research, changes in the activity of the NO system in the blood were observed, namely an increase in the level of stable metabolites and an increase in the activity of total NO-synthase, which is accompanied by a compensatory inhibition of the L-arginine activity, and these indicators were most pronounced in the late stages of EP and IS formation.
Conclusion. The use of thiocetam showed a corrective effect on the changed variables of NO metabolism in the peripheral blood of guinea pigs under the conditions of the EP and IS development

Promotor: dr hab.
A. Grucy CMKP w Otwocku.
Na podstawie wykonanych analiz wysunięto m.in. następujące wnioski:
The number of disabled people in Poland is almost 12.2% of the country's population. The current and forecasted by the Central Statistical Office demographic situation will result in a significant increase in the percentage of people with special needs, including disabled people. Public institutions providing social services and health services will be obliged to provide the public with greater architectural, information, communication and digital accessibility. The aim of the work is to assess the availability of social security institutions for disabled people on the example of ZUS and SPSK. prof. A. Grucy CMKP in Otwock. The results obtained in the study may support the development of effective strategies for implementing and monitoring accessibility for disabled people in both entities.
Based on the analyzes performed, it was proposed, among others: the following conclusions:
Public utility entities, such as ZUS, should have detailed accessibility standards for people with special needs. The current legislation does not specify recommended solutions in the area of architectural and information and communication accessibility.
Meeting the Accessibility Standards of Primary Health Care Services and Hospitals developed by the Ministry of Health (March 2022) should be an obligatory condition for entities providing health services financed by the National Health Fund
Sorcerers, hunters and prophets – creations of masculinity in YA fantasy stories about witches
The article analyses the creations of masculinity in young adult stories about witches. The following novels were analysed: Extasia by Claire Legrand, The Year of Witching by Alexis Henderson and the duology These Witches Don't Burn, This Coven Won't Break by Isabel Sterling, and the TV series Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. It was pointed out that in the discussed texts, on the one hand, we are dealing with a ”typical” representation of men, i.e. hegemonic, patriarchal, oppressive masculinity – heroes of this type are either fanatical religious leaders or witch hunters. On the other hand, these stories often present a ”new” model of a man – a feminist ally of women who wants to destroy the patriarchal order and build a new equality reality
