    Project-based Learning an Innovation in Teaching RELT: A Study on Students’ Needs

    The condition of learning in the post-pandemic era varies; although the learning process can be fully offline, some universities do blended learning. A blended learning system also happened in UIN Syahada Padangsidimpuan. This paper aims to inform the needs of students in learning research in ELT subjects; it was one of the subjects distributed to English students at this university. The data were taken using mixed-method methods, and the data was collected using questionnaires and interviews. 61 (sixty-one) students filled out the questionnaires, and 10 (ten) students were asked to get interviews. The data were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. After analyzing the data, it was found that the students liked to study using several methods. Although they have been stated to study with several methods, the highest percentage is Project-based Learning (PjBL). Based on the result, it can be concluded that the students need the PjBL in learning Research in English Language Teaching (RELT) subject matter.     Learning Strategy of Akidah Akhlak Subject During Covid-19 Pandemic in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah

    The Covid-19 pandemic causes many problems which forced teachers to innovate and determine the learning strategies used. The strategy was chosen based on the nature or subject material character. Akidah Akhlak was a compulsory subject in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah. This study aimed to analyze the teacher's strategy in the learning of Akidah Akhlak Subject at MIN Palu during the pandemic. The design of this research was descriptive qualitative research with a phenomenological approach. The data were obtained from interviews, observations and documentation. The study results showed that the Akidah Akhlak learning strategy was implemented in two learning models, namely Online and Offline (Home Visit). The first was online learning by using smartphones and laptops with the WhatsApp application, video calls, google classroom, and Ruang Guru Application. The second was student's home visits by gathering some students who lived nearby to each other's house to study together and assignments were given every week based on a schedule. The home visit is prioritized for students who were categorized as slow learners and students without internet connection. In online learning and home visits, creativity and optimizing the roles of teachers and parents are very necessary for the effective and efficient learning.     The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted learning activities in universities and schools temporarily stopping face-to-face learning, especially in Indonesia. Instead, learning is conducted remotely online. The application of online learning requires the readiness of several parties, from the provision of infrastructure to the students' side. The problem of cost, the readiness of educators and students in using technology is still the reason online learning can be carried out after the Covid19 pandemic in an effort to integrate technology in the world of education. How do we optimize the quality of Education through online learning. The research is aimed at knowing the effectiveness of online learning in learning media courses in the midst of a pandemic. It also includes planning, implementing, evaluating, as well as obstacles and how to overcome them. This research was conducted with a qualitative descriptive method. This study will describe the problems and solutions that occur in online learning so that the effectiveness of its implementation can be determined and recommendations for the feasibility of online learning can be determined in the future. Data collection techniques were carried out by documentary studies, observations, and interviews. The results showed that learning from semi-practical courses was running effectively. Various problems that become the issue of the weakness of online learning are solved by government policies, campus facilities and services that are able to support the achievement of learning objectives even in semi-practical courses

    Comparative of Face to Face Learning vs Online Learning: Analysis of Students' Scientific Article Writing Skills Through Project-Based Learning

    Online and face-to-face learning represent distinct educational contexts. Online learning refers to education or instruction conducted over the internet, whereas face-to-face learning occurs in a shared physical space and time. Nowadays, teachers have various options for conducting these learning processes. Each mode of learning possesses its own strengths and limitations. Consequently, this research aims to compare face-to-face and online learning in terms of students' skills in reproducing scientific article using Project-Based Learning (PjBL). This research method is a quantitative research with a quasi-experimental design. Two classes were selected as samples of this study using purposive sampling techniques. With the provision that one class is experimental class 1 by treating students in face-to-face learning mode using the PjBL model, while experimental class 2 learning is carried out online using the PjBL model. The research instrument used was a performance test, namely students making scientific papers. Analysis of research data using SPSS with the stages of normality test, homogeneity test, and t-test. The results of the study showed that there was a difference in the average learning outcomes of students, namely scientific writing skills using Project Based Learning between face-to-face learning and online learning.     Improving Students’ Dyscalculia Numeracy Ability Using Learning Media Colored Bead Montessori

    This study aims to investigate the effects of colored bead Montessori learning media to students’ numeral thinking skills none of the elementary schools (SD) in Padang, Indonesia. This study used a quantitative method with a single-subject research approach, the research data was taken from a student with dyscalculia through fifteen direct lessons using colored bead Montessori learning media. Data were analyzed by using visual graphical analysis tool descriptively were analyzed descriptively using visual graphical analysis tools. The results of this study showed that the use of colored bead Montessori learning media based on the analysis can actually improve the numeracy skills of students with dyscalculia in learning. This improvement is proved by, at first the students' scores were 2, 4, 4, 4, this was the value before the researcher used the media. Furthermore, after the researcher did seven times direct treatment, it was found that the students' scores increased to 10, 13, 15, 18, 20, 20, 20, even students were able to obtain self-evaluation scores with numbers 20, 20, 20, 20. The results of this study proved that the use of colored bead Montessori media has been able to improve the numeracy skills of students in learning. Referring to the results of this research, colored bead Montessori can be used as an alternative media in learning numeracy skills of students with dyscalculia none of the elementary schools

    Escaping Materials from Lower Order Thinking Skills in Geschool

    The objective of this study was to determine the distribution of Higher-Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) of EFL materials posted in Geschool. The analysis was made in accordance with the revised Bloom's taxonomy including cognitive and knowledge dimension. Data of this study were collected by using document analysis method which were taken from EFL online materials and tasks in Geschool for grade IX at Junior High School Adabiah Padang. The Geschool online materials were analyzed by using cognitive and knowledge dimension analysis guide. The findings showed that all topics in knowledge dimensions belonged to Lower Order Thinking Skill.  Meanwhile, in cognitive domain. there were only 14.14% tasks belonged to higher-lorder thinking skill. In the knowledge dimension aspect, most HOTS materials belonged to factual knowledge. While in cognitive aspect, most HOTS questions belonged to remembering level.  It can be concluded that the majority of EFL materials in Geschool belonged to lower-level thinking skills, particularly remembering (cognitive dimension) of factual knowledge.  Therefore, big efforts should be addressed to escape from such low level of knowledge

    Prospective Biology Teachers Perceptions of CT, ICT and TPACK Skills

    The Covid-19 pandemic has caused the learning process to change from face-to-face to online learning, without exception it has also occurred at Islamic Universities in Indonesia. Therefore, an online learning design with WhatsApp and Google Classroom was conduct to improved critical thinking (CT), information communication and technology (ICT), and technological pedagogical content knowledge (TPACK) of Prospective Biology Teachers in Islamic Universities (PBTs-IU). The aims of this study was to investigate prospective biology teacher’s perceptions of critical thinking, ICT and TPACK skills of during the Covid-19 pandemic. This study used quantitative descriptive method. Data were collected from 195 PBTs-IU, with of 19 males and 176 females. The quality of the instrument was achieved use confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and alpha Cronbach tests. Then, paired sample correlations test was used to confirmed the hypothesis. The result of the study showed that there is different with CT, ICT and TPACK skill pre-course with post-course PBTs-IU. This finding also showed that score CT, ICT and TPACK of PBTs-IU for post-course is higher than pre-course. In concluded, there was a significant difference score for pre-course and post course about prospective biology teacher’s perceptions of CT, ICT and TPACK skills of during the Covid-19 pandemic

    Character Education Through Islamic Behavior Improvement (IBI) Among the Tourism Community in West Sumatra

    The development of halal tourism in West Sumatra is not proportional, due to a lack of service to tourists and the prevalence of negative social behaviors such as fraud, coercion, deception, and violence within the Minang society, often known as the 4P (Pakuak, Palak, Pakang, and Preman) behavior. This research aims to identify and educate on social behaviors of fraud, coercion, deception, and violence (Pakuak, Palak, Pakang, and Preman) that hinder the development of halal tourism in West Sumatra. The research findings indicate that first, the potential of halal tourism in West Sumatra, seen from religious, socio-cultural, natural potential, and stakeholder perspectives, strongly supports the development of halal tourism. Second, behaviors inhibiting the development of tourism communities, the 4P (Pakuak, Palak, Pakang, and Preman), are still prevalent amidst tourism activities in West Sumatra. Third, the Islamic Behavior Improvement (IBI) Tourism Model for tourism communities, tourists, and halal tourism stakeholders in West Sumatra, based on development results, has been tested for product validity.     Interactive E-Book Model Based on Local Wisdom as a Media for Learning Exposition Text Reading Skills

    This study aims describes the process of designing an interactive e-book model based on the local wisdom of Minangkabau culture. This type of research is mixed methods or commonly known as mixed research methods. The mixed model used is a 4-D model consisting of four stages, namely define, design, develop, and disseminate. This research was conducted on students of class X of State High School 2 Padang. Innovative learning media are indispensable by students to be used independently in the learning process Indonesian. Therefore, research in interactive e-book models is used as one of the alternatives to overcome the limitations of learning media in exposition text reading skills. The results of this study describe the making of an interactive e-book model based on local wisdom of exposition text reading skills with a validity value of 94.44% with a very valid category. Based on the feasibility aspect of content obtained validity value of 97.50% with a very valid category. Based on the aspect of eligibility of validity, obtained a validity value of 89.28% with a very valid category. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the interactive e-book for reading skills reading the exposition text of students of class X is valid and can be continued to the next stage

    Research Trends of Problem Based Learning (PBL) Model in Science Courses in Universities

    The PBL model has relevance and potential in developing 21st-century skills. This study uses the Systematic Literature Review method to identify PBL research trends in science courses at universities. A literature search using the app Publish or Perish with the Scopus database and data from journals indexed by SINTA (Science and Technology Index) in the last 10 years, from 2012 to 2021. In this study, there are 32 articles about PBL research in science lectures, including physics, chemistry, biology, and natural science.  The trend seen is a rise in publications addressing various facets of critical thinking abilities. Among research publications, quantitative research is the most common type. Quasi-Experimental designs are most often chosen by researchers, while RD designs are still little used. Chemistry is a subject that is most often chosen as a research subject. Meanwhile, the test is the most commonly used instrument for collecting data on 21st-century student skill
