Challenges of Development in a War-torn Country: The Case of Cambodia
No full textCambodia is at once faced with both enabling opportunities and encumbering realities as it proceeds with the rebuilding of its post civil-war economy. Its location in the economically vibrant region of Southeast Asia combines with its proud record of historical achievements to hint at a positive promise and prospect of success. But its recent history of self-destructive politics and fratricidal conflict has left a traumatized society with gaping institutional deficits ? these deficits threaten to make the economic prospects ahead more daunting and less certain than can normally be expected. Which outcome will in the end prevail is primarily contingent on the optimum management of its economic and political resources domestically while, at the same time, effectively mining its trade and investment opportunities externally. Get PDF「教育は人なり」とか「あらゆる教育の問題は、教師の問題に帰着する」とか言われるように、いかに時代が変わり、社会が変化しようとも、児童・生徒の人格形成に大きな影響を及ぼす教員の資質能力の向上は、不易の課題である。
これからの教員には、変化の激しい時代にあって、「ゆとり」のなかで「特色ある教育活動」を展開し、子どもたちに自ら学び自ら考え、よりよく問題を解決する能力、豊かな人間性を持ち、たくましく生きるための健康と体力などいわゆる「生きる力」を育む教育を行うことが期待されている。
そのため、教育に対する情熱や使命感を持つとともに、得意分野や個性を有し、学校の課題に的確に対応できる力量のある教員が求められている。
そこで、教員に求められる資質能力について、中央教育審議会や教育職員養成審議会などの各種答申や各都道府県教育委員会等が求める教員像について整理するとともに、宮崎県内の小・中学校の校長・教頭が、教員に求められる資質能力について、どのような意識・ニーズを持っているかを調査研究し、教員養成カリキュラムの編成・改善等に活用しようとするものである。departmental bulletin pape
English Proficiency and Intercultural Contact Among Cambodian University Students: Exploring the Impact of Globalization
No full textResearch suggests that increases in the flow of foreigners and financial investments into Cambodia are having an influence on Cambodian people; moreover, these affects can be seen as a byproduct of globalization. This study investigated the relationships between Cambodian university students' English proficiency, attitudes toward non-Cambodian people, students’ motivation to study English, and intercultural contact with "foreigners". A convenience sample (N=363) was drawn from the 17 classes at Royal University of Phnom Penh's(RUPP) English Language Support Unit (ELSU). English proficiency was measured by the researchers' original scale. To assure validity of English proficiency, the TOEFL was administered (N=52) and oral interviews were conducted (N=57) with a sub-group of students. Motivation and the degree of contact with foreigners were measured by the researchers’ original scale. And attitudes toward non-Cambodians were measured through semantic differential scales and social distance scales. Students perceived English ability was in the low-intermediate range and the TOEFL scores of the subgroup (N=52) strongly correlated with these self-assessment ratings. The degree of Contact with foreigners was relatively high; nearly 86 percent of the respondents had contact with foreigners. A moderate positive significant correlation (r=.38) was found between English Proficiency and Contact. Prosodic Changes in the Inverted English Sentences Accompanying Periphrastic do/have
Get PDF英語の発話に於いて、ある語彙が文の中位から文頭へ倒置されると、その継続時間は、伸長した。また、文から迂言的do/have・倒置語・ポーズを除いた部分は、文末よりも文頭で、そして文の後半よりも文の前半で、短縮された。この結果はつまり、情報の価値の優位性は、文の中位、文頭、文末の順に大きくなることを、音の長さというひとつの韻律素性から、裏付ける一因となった。倒置が起きる前後の、卓立を付与された音節の変化からも、文の中位に対して文末における情報の価値の優位性が立証された。ピッチの変化が卓立を生み出す大きな要因になっていることが示唆され、文頭へ転置された副詞の基本周波数パタンは多様になることが例証された。また、文の常位/倒置に関係なく、複文に於いて両節間に吸気なしのポーズが入った場合、先行節に比べて後続節の音圧レベルが低下するが、吸気を伴った場合は、両節に、ほぼ同等の音圧レベルが付与されることが判明した。departmental bulletin pape
