Securing the Digital Harvest: Cybersecurity as a Core Agribusiness Skill
The digitization of agriculture, through IoT-enabled equipment, cloud platforms, and precision technologies, has improved efficiency and profitability while also introducing significant cybersecurity risks. These vulnerabilities can disrupt supply chains, compromise sensitive data, and undermine financial stability. Yet agribusiness degree programs often overlook cybersecurity education. This paper proposes integrating cybersecurity content on threat awareness, incident response, and data protection into agribusiness curricula. Embedding these elements equips graduates to manage both digital and financial risks, enhancing resilience and competitiveness. Such curricular innovation aligns technical and managerial training, preparing future agribusiness professionals to lead securely and sustainably in an increasingly connected industry
Addressing Declining Enrollments in the Accounting Program with a Program Partners Campaign
Like other accounting programs, the Accounting program at the University of Nebraska at Kearney has experienced declining enrollments. Faculty addressed this problem by creating the Accounting Program Partners.
The Program Partners campaign benefits the partners and the Accounting program. The firm pays $2,500 to be a partner. Benefits include access to students through Beta Alpha Psi, inclusion in visits students make to firms, etc. One half of the money raised is used for scholarships that target business students without an emphasis and campuswide undecided students.
Number of majors in our accounting program has increased 40% in two years
From Allies to Enemies: Factors Affecting Suppliers Climbing the Value Chain
This paper creates a theoretical model for analyzing the likelihood of a supplier climbing the value chain and becoming a new competitor. The model includes four areas of analysis, the complexity and importance of the item being sourced, and the level of total interdependence and type of strategic alliances between the firms. By using this model, a company could look at the likelihood of their suppliers climbing the value chain. This analysis involves giving different levels of strength to each factor, which will create the overall level of likelihood
Chief Sustainability Officer\u27s Impact on Environmental, Social, and Governance Performance Measures
In this study, we test the impact of Chief Sustainability Officers (CSOs) on Environmental, Sustainability, and Governance (ESG) performance measures. We find evidence that the presence of a CSO within a firm is positively associated with ESG ratings on all three components of ESG. These findings are robust in additional tests using Propensity Scored Matching (PSM) and Entropy Balanced samples. Additionally, we find evidence that CSO appointment has a positive impact on total ESG ratings in the initial year of appointment
Notetaking Reimagined: The Impact of Combining Text and Visuals for Effective Learning
This Mixed-Methods Narrative Case Study examines previous research on the effects of visual/ illustrative notes and their effect on knowledge coding, retention, and retrieval processes. It adds to current research in the form of a case study of a high school advanced photography course in Livingston, MT and the effect that adding visuals to notetaking practices affects student performance and memory throughout the semester. This study also proposes a method of introduction to visual notetaking that can be implemented in classrooms regardless of subject matter
