Modelling and Simulation of Inventory Replenishment Policies and Comparison of Target Days Vs Actual Days of Inventory Held
Supply chain managers often apply aggregate planning techniques to develop make or buy decisions or even make for stock versus make to order scenarios for example. These scenarios often contain combinations of inventory holding vs capacity installed. Many supply chain managers have used ‘what-if’ decisions to develop supply chain scenarios to help them determine optimum results in terms of low cost and improved customer service. This study aims to create eight scenarios of varying inventory replenishment policies for one fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) organisation. The aim is to provide the supply chain manager with alternative options for lower inventory and yet be able to service the FMCG businesses at lowest cost. The results show that this allows supply chain managers to pick the scenario that optimises an organisation’s resources and competitive strategy
Effect of World Economy Globalization and Supply Chain Upon Socio-Economic Processes at the National Level
Abstract-This study investigate the relationship between economy at national and international level, supply chain management system and socio economic process. In this article, we consider the effect of world economy globalization upon socio-economic processes at the national level. We define a set of qualitative attributes of globalization, such as essential growth of international economic relations, national markets’ price leveling, the arrival of investment resource in world markets, creation of a single world finance infrastructure, and the advent of a distinct economic constituent in the activities of international political and military organization. This research is aimed at forming a system of quantitative parameters, which can be assigned to the attributes above, as well as revealing globalization effects on socio-economic development either at national or regional levels, since many contemporary works consider globalization and regionalization as a dialectical process consisting of two indissolubly united parts. Besides, the tasks of the research include the forecast of some tendencies towards globalization effects on the development of national economy by monitoring the formed system of parameters

Consumers’ Perception of the Benefits and Challenges of Organic Food Consumption and Supply
Despite growing concern on the quality and safety of food available in the market, only a small portion of consumers purchase organic food products. Therefore, this study aims to explore the perception of consumers towards the benefits and challenges of organic food consumption. For that purpose, a semi-structured interview was conducted with three organic food consumers in Tanjung Malim, Perak and data were analysed by using thematic analysis. The findings confirmed “healthiness” and “green environment” as the benefits of organic consumption, while “high price” and “the lack of organic food availability” were described as the challenges in organic food consumption. The implication of the study is that campaigns towards organic food consumption should be focusing on the healthier eating and environmental-friendliness of organic food production. Moreover, organic food producers need to focus on reducing the cost of organic food production to reduce price and increase distribution of organic food to penetrate more market segments.
Social Enterprise and Creation of Social Value Chain
The main aims of the study are twofold. First is to understand how social enterprises create social values, and second is to evaluate how the values further grow and create other positive social impacts. While a large number of studies on social enterprise has been conducted to assess the benefits to the society, how the benefits create a spill over effect is yet to be well researched. Hence, there are limitations on linking social enterprise to sustainable development. Given the nature of the study context was exploratory, the study was conducted using the qualitative method, with the focus on six cases of social enterprises in Malaysia. The data was analysed using the constant comparison approach and thematic analysis. The analyses suggest two main findings. One is how the strategies of the business model is imperative in creating the values, which are the management, process, product and service, and marketing. Two is the creation of social values, and their chains. These social values are the creation of partnership inter-innovations, which foster for sharing economy, and further enhance social inclusion and finally cultivate social empowerment through shared ownership, financial independence, self-sustainable and strategic alliance. As the world is facing complex social and economic issues, we suggest social enterprise as an agenda for creating a sustainable public wealth. Research implications and future research are discussed
The Mediating Role of Supply Chain Management and Moderating Impact of Competitive Intensity on the Association among Environmental Orientation and Firm’s Performance in Indonesia
The research examines a model that describes the correlation between sustainability awareness, green supply chain management (GSCM) practices (green purchasing, consumer engagement and investment recovery) and firms’ performance (FP). Survey responses from 210 manufacturing firms influential in Indonesia, this research has developed many significant observations. Firstly, it indicates that when internal and external environmental strategies may positively and substantially impact on green procuring and consumer coordination policies, internal environmental orientation also plays as a key determinant of capital recovery techniques. Secondly, it demonstrates that the operation of all these three core GSCM practices in addition greatly improves organizational performance. Eventually, the research shows that competitive strength reinforces the positive impact of consumer engagement on firm growth. Generally, the observations illustrate the significance for firms, predominantly located in competitive industries, of fostering a pro-environmental organizational philosophy and strengthening responsiveness to the environmental needs of decision-makers in order to achieve GSCM
The Investigation of Job Search Behaviour Among Workers in the Manufacturing Sector in Malaysia: Do Education and Skill Mismatch Matter
This paper investigates the influence of education and skill mismatch on job search behaviour and quits intention among workers in the manufacturing sector in Malaysia. Three indicators of mismatch were employed here; over-education, overskilling and job mismatch and they were measured using workers’ own assessment. Using data from own field survey, the 2016 Co-workers’ Externalities at Workplace (TERS-16), it was found that 18%, 45% and 37% of respondents were deemed overeducated, overskilled and being in mismatched jobs, respectively. Using random effect probit models, three main findings were observed. As expected, there was strong evidence that overqualification resulted in job search activity. Being in jobs that completely different from workers’ actual field of study also increased the likelihood of seeking new jobs relative to the reference group. Finally, being overskilled also led to a higher probability of being engaged in job search behaviour. Interestingly, the magnitude of the effect was twice higher for the severely than for the moderately-overskilled. These findings were robust even after all education-skill mismatch indicators were controlled for together. The results of the study reflect greater potential mobility amongst the mismatched workers in Malaysia. There is impossible to ascertain whether or not such a move results in improved matches due to data limitation. Yet, from a firm’s perspective, higher intensity of job search behaviour among the mismatched may lead to a higher turnover rate and incur hiring and training cost.
