The Supply Chain Integration, and Product Modularity as Antecedents of the Market Valuation of Firms in Thai Solar Industry
The main purpose of the current study is to examine the supply chain integration, and product modularity as antecedents of the market valuation. The study is carried out on the supply chain of the solar industry of Thailand. The reason why the solar industry is chosen is that the greater emphasis on rising oil prices, global regulatory environment, and climate change resulted in increased adoption of clean technology processes. Over the next few decades, the solar energy would be considered as an important technology stemming from fast-paced innovation and huge technological investment. Being an infant industry, the solar energy supply chain is evolving rapidly with the entrance of new as well as already established firms. The study has used the SEM-PLS to analyses the data gathered from the firms in the solar industry. The findings of the study argue that the aggregated product modularity affects the supply chain flexibility and supply chain’s ability of delivering product variety, across the supply chain. Such aggregated product modularity, being an important SC construct, shows the product modularity of supply chain as a whole
Green Supply Chain Management (GSCM): A Research Agenda
The concept of green supply chain management (GSCM) is now gaining more attention among practitioners due to its ability to help companies address environmental issues. Nevertheless, studies on GSCM practices and outcomes extensively come from multinational companies compared to fully owned Malaysian companies, especially the Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs). This conceptual paper discusses GSCM in global context and explores further directions of GSCM research in Malaysia. The discussions led to conclusions that the main drivers of GSCM implementation are mainly the pressure of regulators, customers and public awareness. Moreover, the implementation can have positive impacts on organizations economic performance and preservation of the environment. Consequently, more research is needed on the implementation of GSCM among Malaysian SMEs, especially in terms of the key practices from the perspectives of the practitioner
The Supply Chain Strategy in Society and Active Longevity in Russia
Abstract- Born from multidisciplinary roots that include logistics, marketing, management, and sociology, SCM has developed into a distinct field of study over the past fifty years. SCM theory has only recently reached a state of maturation where it produces operationalisable concepts and tools, but progress is being made in advancing both the overarching field of SCM and the specific issues that fall under the SCM umbrella. The authors investigated supply chain strategy as an active longevity’s policy and quality of life of elderly population in the Russian Federation. Factors of the active longevity and reasons that reduce the level of life quality and society of elderly population in 2014-2016 have been discovered. The offered normative and evaluative model of life quality of elderly population and a list of strategies of active longevity are a novelty of the research. A practical importance of the research results is in the using its results to solve national economic issues and to provide the active longevity in Russia
Incorporating Intellectual Property Rights and E-Commerce: Supply Chain Strategy to Strengthen the Competitiveness of SMEs
Abstract- This research aims to analyze the use of e-commerce and Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), especially the supply chain strategy for Small Business Enterprises (SMEs) as an effort to strengthen business competitiveness. This study uses an experimental design by providing intervention to respondents. Descriptive analysis was carried out to reflect the data obtained from the process of identifying the profiles of several SMEs and this study involved 40 SMEs in Yogyakarta. The data was processed using inductive analysis with paired sample t-test to find out the difference between e-commerce insights and IPR ownership before and after the experiment. One-Sample Kolmogorov Smirnoff is used to test data normality to determine different types of tests. The findings demonstrate that there are significant differences before conducting the experiment and after. The research shows that communication is a key tool ensuring the efficiency of supply chain cooperation as perceived seriously by the SME. The experiment indicates the significant level of 0.003 is lower than alpha of 0.05 for e-commerce. While the ownership of IPR such as trademarks showed significant gains as well, as indicated by the significant level 0.000 lower than alpha 0.05. The result of experimental method has made marketing techniques with e-commerce and IPR ownership
Witnessing Economic Growth in Kazakhstan through Sustainability and Manufacturing Performance: Mediating Role of Supply Chain Performance
At the present time, a number of organizations consider the implementation of sustainable activities as not just a competitive gain however as well as a requirement for enduring existence. Thus, it is vital that the researcher comprise the factor of sustainability in assessing the performance of the supply chain of an organization. But very little investigations have examined the influence of sustainability and manufacturing on economic growth, with the mediating impact of supply chain performance. The existing article demonstrates a unique methodology for assessing the performance of the supply, which could be utilized by Kazakh manufacturing companies. Relied on the past studies and on the opinions of the experts, the researcher recognized the functions of the supply chain which impact the supply chain, sustainability and manufacturing performance, and the economic growth. In this study, the scholar of this study designed a survey-based questionnaire and surveyed the experts of the manufacturing organizations. Total of 267 participants filled out the survey. The results of this study show that all the research hypotheses of the study are accepted.
The Supply Chain Integrated Inventory Model for Single Product, Multi-Buyer and Multi-Vendor
This paper presents an extended integrated inventory model with multi vendors that produce one item product and supply it to multi buyers. It is assumed that vendor production rates are not equal and the demands of buyers assumed to be normally distributed and independent. The model formulation was made for each buyer and vendor. Then, each cost component from the buyer and vendor is combined to form the total inventory costs. This model uses the service level as constraint. The final mathematical model consists of formulations of the total inventory costs and with certain service level
The Implication of Land Acquisition for the Supply Chain development Management of National Strategic Project towards Sustainable Agricultural/Farming Land: the Case Study of the development Project of Jakarta-Bandung Rapid Train
Indonesia is in the middle of increasing the land acquisition made for the public interest, since the focus of the Indonesian government currently is to develop the infrastructure necessary for the public. The case considered in this paper is the construction in the infrastructure of Jakarta-Bandung Rapid Train. In the execution of supply chain development of the Jakarta-Bandung Rapid Train, the government is using the acquisition of land from the public, of which, agricultural land along the train-route must be handed-over for the sake of the supply chain development. This is interesting to study because there has been a change of function of agricultural land to non-agricultural land, in the Article 44 paragraph (1) of the Law Number 41 of 2009 concerning the Protection of Sustainable agricultural/farming land, it is stated that land that has been designated as sustainable agricultural/farming land is under protection and its acquisition, should not be conversed for other purpose. However, in the paragraph (2), it is stated that with respect to the public interest, the sustainable agricultural/farming land, might have conversion to purpose according to the rules and regulations. This study is using a normative juridical approach and it has analytical descriptive nature. It describes theories about the land acquisition, sustainable agricultural/farming land, and other related theories. The result shows that the supply chain development of the Jakarta-Bandung Rapid Train project executed was apparently not in accordance with the Spatial Zoning Plan (SZP) of the area where the supply chain development is taking place, meanwhile, the Law Number 2 concerning the Land Acquisition for Supply chain development in the Public Interest requires the supply chain development to be in line with the SZP, for that matter, the government is initiating solution on changing the SZP
The Impact of Sustainability Reporting on Profitability in Iraq Stock Exchange: Role of the Transparency as Moderating Variable
Abstract This study has examined moderating impact of transparency on relation between the sustainability reporting disclosure on profitability. The study’s statistical population consisted of listed companies in Iraq Stock Exchange for period 2014 to 2017, which in this study content of 25 corporation sample was analyzed to assess the level of corporations’ disclosing sustainability reporting through annual reports on the activities of the board. Secondary data from annual report of Iraq corporations were used actualize the research objectives In this study. Panel data regression techniques namely fixed effects estimation and random effects estimation in addition to pooled Ordinary Least Square regression was carried out on the secondary data collected from corporations reports. For this purpose, 167 Disclosure indices were analyzed based on Triple Bottom Line (TBL) in three economic, social and environmental dimensions using a zero-one procedure and rating of each corporation’s disclosing corporate social responsibility was extracted to determine their level of disclosure. To investigate the association between variables of this research, the level of corporations’ disclosing sustainability reporting independent variable and performance metrics based on accounting data (ROA) as dependent variable are considered. Based on the research results, there is a significant relationship between the level of disclosing corporate social responsibility and financial performance criteria of corporations based on both accounting data. Moreover, results of this study can increase individual investors’ confidence in investing in companies with stronger corporate governance. This finding provides new evidence to the literature as well as for the policy makers to consider on transparency adoption
What if Biological Asset Accounting Policies are linked to Tax Avoidance and Supply Chain Management?
Tax management is carried out by all companies, including the agricultural sector. In practice, the impact on financial performance caused by various problems relates to accounting policies of biological assets, transparency, accountability, responsibility, independence, fairness, and the size of the company. This study aims to prove empirically whether there is an influence of biological asset accounting policy implications, good corporate governance practices, and company size on tax management through financial performance in agricultural sector companies. Supply chain management significantly and positively mediates among the relationship between policy implications, company size, good corporate governance practices, tax management and financial performance. Research data were collected through questionnaire instruments, face-to-face interviews, and group discussion forums, which were conducted in several places in Indonesia. Sampling was conducted with non-probability sampling. Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Model (SEM). The results showed that the implications of biological asset accounting policies and good corporate governance practices had a direct or indirect effect on tax management and financial performance. But company size has no direct or indirect effect on tax management and financial performance. The limitation of this research lies in the analysis unit of the plantation and forestry sector alone, not yet in other agricultural sectors such as livestock and fisheries that have the same characteristics as regulated in PSAK No. 69 Agriculture, namely biological transformation
A Channel Drainage Slope Modified as Discharge Supply Chain in the Coastal Area
Slope in the drainage channel system is a primary factor that determines the quantity of water to be gravity discharged. By having bigger slope, the flow velocity becomes larger and the capacity of water discharged becomes more so that there will be no surface runoff. Lhokseumawe is a city located in the coastal area with its height is only 0.95 m above sea level. It is difficult to build the appropriate slope of the channel. For this reason, innovation is needed by modifying the slope of the channel in stages and tiered at each distance of 50 m, by which for channels along the 1,350 m will have 27 stages. The discharge capacity required to flow the rainfall is based on a 2-year return period of 5.10 m3/ sec. Slopes under normal conditions are 0.0013 to get a flow velocity of 1.27 m/sec. Using a section area of 1.32 m2 channel it can get discharge capacity of 1.67 m3/ sec. Furthermore, the slope of the channel was modified to 0.005 at each distance of 50 m and this obtained a flow velocity of 2.46 m/sec so that it was able to drain a discharge capacity of 3.24 m3/ sec. By modifying this channel slope can increase the discharge by 1.57 m3/sec or 93.7% compared to the slope without modified. It has not been able to multiply the overall discharge but at least can reduce the discharge 93.7%
