Transparency of livestock supply chain management is still a significant problem in Indonesia due to the unavailability of data and information accessible by the stakeholders of cattle supply chains. It is difficult to obtain information for queries, monitoring, and control purposes at any node along cattle supply chains, and thus introducing some risks of insecurity and uncertainty of cattle conditions along the supply chains. Nowadays, consumers are getting smarter and more curious about selecting healthy and high-quality beef. This requires the provision of an easily and securely accessible traceability and transparency system. The aim of this research is to develop an e-traceability system for cattle supply chains. The proposed e-traceability system was developed on the basis of a web-platform that provides wide access and easy links to all actors within a cattle supply chain and stakeholders. All actors in the cattle supply chain need to be registered and the data related to cattles need to be recorded in the traceability system database for analytic and decision-making. The potential applicability of the developed e-traceability system are examined and demonstrated to highlight the benefits of the system in improving transparency and traceability cattle deliveries from land to table for better managerial tasks

Financing Alignment and Financing Performance of Chinese Companies within Buyer-Supplier Relationships: The Moderate Effect of Supply Chain Finance Challenges

    No full text
Purpose – The aim of this study is twofold. In academia, this study attempts to enrich the scarce empirical literature regarding Supply Chain Finance (SCF) adoptions. In practice, this study aims to support the buyers and suppliers in a supply chain that consider the application of blockchain technology in SCF, especially in emerging countries.Design/ methodology/ approach – Through a cross-industry survey, 152 responses from companies located in China have been collected to test the hypotheses empirically.Findings – The results show that buyer-supplier financing alignment could positively influence on the buyer-supplier financing performance in the context of Chinese companies. However, insufficient evidence exists to suggest a moderating effect of SCF challenges.Research limitations/ implications – Future study may identify the related challenges within the blockchain technology-driven SCF. An additional in-depth case study might be a desirable methodology to realize how Chinese companies implement SCF, and gain insights that are more practical. Another possibility is to generalize the research model to other emerging countries. Further, future research may also consider involving other participants within the supply chain to investigate the SCF issues in China.Practical implications – This paper implies that both buyers and suppliers could consider applying blockchain technology-driven SCF to enhance the financial performance in a supply chain. Additionally, when companies are implementing SCF, it is essential to maintain the long-term buyer-supplier relationship in order to improve the financing performance. Originality/ value – This study enriches the scarce empirical researches regarding SCF adoptions. Meanwhile, this study tries to shed light on the influence of buyer-supplier financing alignment on buyer-supplier financing performance, especially in the emerging country. Keywords – Supply chain finance, Finance collaboration, Finance performance, Challenges, Chin

This study use panel or pooled data taken from annual report of Islamic and conventional banks in Indonesia during 2012-2017 period and consist of 10 Islamic and 24 conventional banks. Pooled regression is used to estimate the effect of bank-specific such as profitability, growth, tangibility, earning volatility and size on supply chain management. The finding of this study shows that profitability and growth have positive and significant effect on supply chain management, while size and tangible asset have negative impact on it of conventional banks.  Earning volatility does not have any influence on supply chain management both for Islamic and conventional banks. In general, there is no significant explanatory variables which have significant influence on supply chain management of Islamic banks except growth variable which have marginal impact on supply chain management decision. In the future, this research can be developed by using different measure of earning volatility

This research aims to explore the possible benefits of regional government supply chain management information towards decision making in regional election (“Pilkada”) in Indonesia. This research is important due to the rarity of researches that discuss the empirical and theoretical proofs of people’s needs towards government Supply chain management information. By using data from 2017 and 2018 regional election in Indonesia, I observed 198 regional governments at province/regency/city level. These sampled regions were chosen by deciding if the regional heads went to run for a second term. This decision was intended to evaluate the success of public policies applied in the first terms, which should be reflected in the regions’ government Supply chain management information that could be used by customers to consider if the ruling government (the incumbents) should be upheld or replaced. By using cluster analysis, I grouped the sampled regions into several clusters based on sociodemographic similarities. Then, I used discriminant analysis towards these clusters and found that regional government Supply chain management information has strong discriminant values towards regional election results. This research proves that customers have good awareness towards Supply chain management information involved in decision making. The implication of this research shows the existence of customers’ needs and interests towards regional government supply chain management information in regional election, thus regional government should improve the quality of supply chain management information and information dissemination, while also make sure that supply chain management information reaches and is reachable the whole society through vast publication and education
