    No full text
Companies around the world are getting more and more aware of the importance of implementing supply chain strategies, which happens to put companies into the map of the world. In order to respond effectively and efficiently to customer needs, companies have to select their supply chain strategies wisely.  One of the key supply chain strategies is the decision concerned with selecting sites and locations of facilities in which their operations are held. In many countries, Special Economic Zones (SEZs) were founded to host the operations of those facilities. SEZs have to attract companies by improving themselves to meet companies’ criteria. This study explores strategies that the Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) implemented for the current companies to successfully sustain their position in the global market. Internal and external integration for these companies are the main focused criterion. A model to evaluate the opportunity for the internal and the external integrations in a specific SEZ is the main contribution of this paper, this model can be used by companies as one criterion of its criteria to select where it can locate its branches. As well, this model will promote ASEZA to attract new investors and companies to land their operations within its premises. Generally, the role of the SEZs to support the supply chain integration system. The model is tested on the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA), the opportunities to improve ASEZA capabilities to enhance the supply chain integration are identified as a result of implementing this model

A Conceptual Framework for Reverse Logistics Performance and Innovation

    Get PDF
Green Supply Chain Management has been receiving a lot of attention in recent times. Attention on Reverse Logistics (RL) area has also been steadily growing. Reverse Logistics involves reduce-reuse-recycle as well as redesign, remanufacture, etc. It is a closed loop of the Supply Chain for value creation. Carter and Ellram (1998) discuss that Reverse Logistics can result in savings for an organization. Daugherty, Richey, Genchev, and Chen (2005) analyze where the resources in Reverse Logistics could be committed to achieve good Reverse Logistics Performance. The Automotive after-market in India is also in its nascent stages and has a huge scope for growth. Thus, a study in this area is definitely warranted. This paper gives a Conceptual framework for the RL Performance and Innovation in Automotive after-market with an emerging economy backdrop. The authors of this paper find fewer papers in these areas and this paper aims to fill this gap

Impact of Green Logistics Activities on Circular Economy: Panel Data Evidence from ASEAN

    Get PDF
Green logistic considers those actions which can minimize the ecological impact of logistics activities. The purpose of this paper is to examine the impact of green logistics activities on the circular economy indicators of ASEAN. This study has considered four ASEAN members including Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, and Singapore, from 2000 to 2015 with yearly observations. For analyzing the relationship between selected factors of green logistics activities and circular economy, three panel models under the title of ordinary least square OLS, fixed effect and random effect was applied. The main findings of the study show that there is significant influence of Transportation and communication (TC) on recycling rate of selected economies under all three panel models. However, the factor of mining, manufacturing, and construction has shown their significant and positive impact on the recycling rate in ASEAN. Similarly, the effect of TC on specific waste streams is found to be significant and negative under all panel estimators. Further, the factor of MMC is significantly and positively influencing on contribution of recycled materials to raw material demands in selected regions. However, trade of recyclable raw materials has shown an adverse influence from TC under full sample of the study. The findings of the study would be of significant support to the policymakers and various stakeholders in ASEAN economies while exploring the relationship between green logistics activities and selected indicators of circular economy. To the best of author’s knowledge, there has been a dearth of research studies specifically with empirical findings, examining the association between green logistics and circular economy. Therefore, this research could be assumed as tentative addition to the literature of economics.  However, present study has some limitations which could be addressed in future studies. First, study has considered limited number of logistic indicators for analyzing their impact on the circular economy. Second, application of some advanced panel models like GMM is missing which may provide some different findings in future research. Third, only four ASEAN members are selected from the entire population. It is suggested that future studies can also conduct a cross-sectional or time series analysis on a similar topic too

    Get PDF
Abstract- This study aims to examine the supply chain strategy in causal relationship between world CPO price causality, production and marketing margin price using the Granger causality approach in the period January 2006-December 2017. This research proves that: (i) The results of the bivariate causality test explain that Indonesian CPO production has a single causality direction with world CPO prices. (ii) The results of the impulse response function and variance decomposition explain that the shock of the marketing margin variable gives a fluctuating response to fluctuations in world CPO prices, but the response is always positively given by the shock marketing margin in response to changes experienced by the variable world CPO prices. The results of this study are efforts to increase the price of CPO in the country by encouraging the development of palm oil derivative industries in increasing derivatives of high economic value products
