    Get PDF
Foods of animal origin are a good source of high quality protein. However, determining fat content in hamburgers is important in order to minimize the adverse effects on health. Cardiovascular disease and obesity are known to be caused by high consumption of saturated fatty acids and cholesterol. Efficient consumer response in fast food Supply chain management is a strategy designed to make fast food industry more efficient, safe and responsive to the consumer’s needs.  This study conducted confidence interval estimation to assess variation in the fat content of hamburger samples from a restaurant, using Minitab. The standard for mean fat content was set at 15 grams with a standard deviation of 1 gram. In this study twenty samples were selected at random and statistical process control was determined by the individual moving range (I-MR) test. The I-MR chart conducted on twenty individual hamburger samples showed that the fat content was in statistical process control. A graphical summary was conducted to check for normality by the Anderson-Darling test and 95% confidence interval of the mean and standard deviation were determined.  The p-value for Anderson-Darling was not significant indicating that the samples were normally distributed. The mean read at 16.48 grams with a standard deviation of 2.09. The confidence interval for the mean registered between 15.50 to 17.46 grams. A variance test was carried out to determine a less than 1 gram variation in the samples. The upper bound was detected in a Chi square test at 8.24. A confidence interval estimation for population proportion showed 0.16 for the upper bound. An automatic oil dispensing machine was installed to standardize the oil applied for frying each hamburger. Another 20 samples were taken and were found to be in statistical process control by the I-MR test. A graph summary report indicated a mean of 14.92 grams and standard deviation of 0.49 grams. The Anderson-Darling test was not significant at p-value of 0.924.Thus confirming a normal distribution. The 95% confidence interval now registered at 14.69 to 15.15, which was close to the expected value of 15 grams. A survey conducted on 100 and 350 customers selected at random, before and after the installation of the automatic oil dispensing machine showed that there were now less dissatisfied customers. A simulation test carried out with twenty samples of 10 subgroups each showed that the process was in control in an X-bar S-chart. An interval plot conducted using a simple multiple Ys chart showed that all the samples were within the 95% confidence interval for the mean indicated by the reference line. A process capability analysis conducted before and after the installation of the automatic oil dispensing machine indicated that the process could be improved further.  Key words: Fat content, hamburgers, confidence interval, variation, statistical process contro

    Get PDF
This study aims to analyze (1) the dispute of construction service through adjudication in Malaysia and New South Wales, Australia; and (2) the legal conception of construction dispute through adjudication in Indonesia. The methodology used in this research was the normative legal jurisdiction with the statute, conceptual, comparison, and comparative approach. The results show that (1) the dispute of construction service through adjudication in Malaysia and New South Wales, Australia, is a legal process where the appointed adjudicator is responsible to solve the dispute between the conflicted parties. Furthermore, the adjudication process is carried out by assigning a dispute adjudication board. Since there is no obstruction in the fieldwork when this process is applied, therefore it is considered more effective; and (2) the legal conception of construction dispute through adjudication in Indonesia is preferable to reflect on CIPAA 2012 which is successfully applied in Malaysia

    Get PDF
Despite widespread agreement on the significance of organizational performance, little attention has been devoted to investigating its determinants in the context of manufacturing organizations in Bangladesh. As a result, the purpose of this research is to determine the effect of green supply chain management on organizational performance in the manufacturing companies of Bangladesh. A total of 211 respondents from the Bangladeshi manufacturing industry, including supply chain supervisors, managers, and directors, were gathered for this study. Using two independent variables, including green innovation and green process, we were able to assess green supply chain practices, while organizational performance was evaluated using two dependent variables, including environmental performance and financial performance. The SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) 24.0 program was used to gather demographic information of the respondents, and Smart PLS (version 3.3.3) was utilized to test the research hypotheses. The findings showed that there is a statistically significant positive connection between GSCM and organizational performance. The results of the research have certain implications for practitioners, which are discussed further in the paper. In addition, we addressed research constraints as well as potential study topics for the future

Importance of Battery Recycling & Swapping: The Next Inevitable Step in EV Supply Chain

    No full text
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to fathom the importance of battery supply chain including battery swapping and recycling as well as the charging infrastructure as nodes in the electric vehicle (EV) supply chain in India. It also delves into the ways in which Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles or FAME II is addressing these issues.Literature Review: One of the key obstacles in the way to the speedy adoption of EVs is range anxiety. A healthy and expanding network of charging infrastructure has a very important role to play in penetration and propagation of E-mobility. Fame II is also committed towards creating charging infrastructure besides providing demand incentive. The problem of battery waste generation which is an obvious fall out of e-mobility adoption is intended to be addressed through battery recycling and battery swapping – both are at a nascent stage in India with significant potential for growth.Design/ Methodology/ Approach: The study looks into both primary data (gathered through survey) and secondary data (collected from authentic data sources both public and private) sources. The mix of empirical research and direct face-to-face interview with consumers helps to better substantiate our argument.Findings: Adoption of E-mobility is unavoidable so is battery waste generation. Battery recycling and battery swapping can be the two technologies that assume enormous importance with the expansion of EV market in India. Range anxiety, another key concern of the potential and present EV owners, can be taken care of by ramping up charging infrastructure – a key area of focus of the Indian Government in its FAME I II schemes

Research on Inter-Regional Population Migration as a Labor Supply Chain

    Get PDF
This article explores the determinants of interregional labour migration in southern Russian regions. Using a basic gravity model with very specialized variables (working-age population, the nearest distance between the administrative regional centres) we partially confirmed hypotheses concerning the presence of a gravitational link between separate regions in southern Russia. The relevance of the topic is determined by the increasing imbalance in the labour force, the partial territorial desertification and the lack of adequate authority measures to regulate migration processes by preserving the integrity of out-migration areas. During the research period (1995-2018), the gravity between regions was both centripetal and centrifugal depending on its centre. In turn, prioritized attraction points are urban settlements within the Southern Federal District. During our regression analysis, we identified four significant variables having the most significant impact on the number of working-age drop-out population: share of the urban population, the average per capita monetary income of the population, length of paved roads, and unemployment rate. The calculations showed the low significance of the GRP level, the number of crimes, the total population and the mortality of the working-age population for migration processes. The prosperous urban territories are gravitated to each other and provide labour resources at the interregional level

Abstract— The objective of this paper was to determine the criteria for selection of C-Check maintenance service provider for a Thai-Singaporean low cost airline. To identify the significant criteria, the documentary studies from reviewing ten related researches in scholarly literatures were conducted and then developed the semi-structure interview guide. Based on results of the interviews of four key informants, who are the top managerial level officers of the airline company, from the competing values of roles and responsibilities, the supplier selection criteria were examined and scored by using the weighted factor rating method. The results revealed 4 significant criteria being used as a framework for the C-Check maintenance service provider selection; these are quality, cost, delivery and compatibility. However, the result confirmed that quality is a must for C-Check maintenance in compliance with the restriction of the aviation industry. Keywords— Aviation Industry, Maintenance Supplier Selection, Factor Rating Metho
