Such integration also helps to realize maximum benefits from application of modern technologies to make entire agri SC more resilient. Successful application of various technologies hinges on efficient data analytics and technology integration and can be achieved using middleware for technology integration and seamless data flow within the SC. Though promising, it presents significant challenges that need to be handled to realize its full potential. This article establishes middleware data platform’s potential in integrating AI, IoT and blockchain technologies and enhancing operational efficiency of agri SC through enhanced transparency, efficiency, and security. Using a systematic AI-driven data analytics platform Middleware provides diagnostic intelligence to the farmers. Realizing middleware’s potential and utilizing it can greatly enhance functionality and performance of ASC, making it an essential tool for both developers and users. However, the technology being nascent, there is significant dearth of data, literature and evidence regarding the user experience and success rate of middleware, hence a significant knowledge gap. This article contributes towards bridging the gap, setting the floor for further research

Sustainable Supply Chain Operations Through Artificial Intelligence: Pathways to EcoEfficient Logistics

Global supply chains face unprecedented volatility and environmental pressure. This paper proposes a conceptual framework that leverages artificial intelligence (AI) to achieve eco-efficient logistics, aligning competitive performance with environmental goals. The framework explains how AI-driven demand forecasting tools, dynamic routing, warehouse optimization, reverse logistics, and supply chain transparency directly lead to quantifiable results such as fuel savings, carbon emissions reduction, and waste reduction. The findings demonstrate that AI-based analytics can optimize critical functions like dynamic routing and predictive forecasting, leading to reduced fuel consumption, lower carbon emissions, and enhanced operational resilience. The methodology involved extracting common themes and applications from these real-world examples to validate and ground the proposed conceptual model, ensuring it is both theoretically sound and practically applicable. The paper concludes that AI is not only a technical tool but also a strategic path essential to a sustainable, competitive and truly sustainable future for global logistics

The Role of Supply Chain Resilience and Integration in Enhancing the Supply Chain Performance: A Literature Review

This research aims to investigate the impact of supply chain resilience and integration on the performance of FMCG firms in Bangladesh. The primary objective is to synthesize existing literature to comprehend how these two interdependent capabilities enhance operational efficiency, delivery reliability, flexibility, innovation, and customer satisfaction in a developing economy. This research used a narrative and integrative review methodology, examining peer-reviewed journal articles, conference proceedings, and industry reports mostly published in the last decade. The technique included the thematic classification of literature into resilience, integration, and performance dimensions, followed by an iterative process of synthesis and interpretation. The study highlights findings that supply chain resilience, which includes adaptation, flexibility, visibility, redundancy, and recovery capacity, allows organizations to successfully absorb and recover from disturbances. The outcomes of the study emphasize the significant role of Supply chain integration to facilitate coordination, information exchange, and cooperation, hence enhancing resilience. Therefore, the research offers actionable insights for managers in cultivating robust and cohesive supply chains, governments in fostering enabling infrastructure and technology integration, and industry stakeholders in advancing collaborative networks

Optimizing Unsold Inventory Decisions under the Newsvendor Model

Unsold products represent a persistent operational and financial challenge for manufacturers, wholesalers, and retailers. This paper aims to address the problem of unsold inventory management by developing a decision-support framework for clearance strategies. Based on the newsvendor model, the proposed approach jointly optimises supply chain profit from regular market sales and clearance sales. The optimisation relies on a qualitative risk–performance assessment of alternative clearance strategies, incorporating managers’ industrial knowledge. A numerical illustration highlights the main drivers influencing the selection of an optimal clearance policy, namely acceptable risk levels, expected clearance revenues, and capacity constraints. The results provide actionable managerial insights and are synthesised into a practical decision-making approach to support practitioners in selecting effective clearance strategies. The proposed framework is applicable to both seasonal and non-perishable products

Exploring Digital Supply Chain Practices in the Maritime Industry: A Systematic Literature Review

The maritime industry is undergoing a significant transformation with the integration of digital technologies to enhance efficiency, transparency, and security. This study systematically reviews the adoption of key digital technologies- such as blockchain, cloud computing, and internet of things (IoT)-with in the maritime sector. The findings reveal that digital supply chain (DSC) technologies enhance real-time data exchange, predictive analytics, and automation. Additionally, the study highlights the primary challenges hindering digital adoption, including infrastructure limitations, regulatory constraints, cybersecurity risks, and resistance to change. The contributions of this research are threefold. First, it provides comprehensive classification digital technologies in the maritime industry and their functional role in supply chain management. Second, it develops a conceptual framework that aligns digitalization Practices with performance outcomes in maritime logistics. Third, it identifies gaps in current research and proposes directions for future studies, particularly in improving interoperability, standardizing digital platforms, and assessing the long-term impact of DSC innovations. The study offers valuable insights for academics, industry practitioners, and policymakers aiming to optimize digital supply chain practices in the maritime industry

Blockchain Integration in Sustainable Letters of Credit Supply Chain

Letters of Credit (LC) are pivotal in global trade finance, providing secure payment assurance to exporters and importers. However, the traditional LC process is laden with inefficiencies, risks of forgery, and delays, particularly in developing countries like Bangladesh. In response to these challenges, Blockchain Database Integration (BDI) is gaining traction as a secure, transparent, and efficient alternative. This study investigates how BDI influences Sustainable Letters of Credit Supply Chains (SLCSC), mediated by the adoption of Technology-based Letters of Credit Supply Chains (LCSC). Drawing on a sample of 400 respondents from LC-related sectors in Bangladesh, the study employed Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) to assess the validity and reliability of the proposed reflective measurement model. Two key hypotheses were tested, and the results supported both the direct impact of BDI on LCSC and the mediated relationship between BDI and SLCSC through LCSC. The findings confirm that blockchain, when effectively integrated into LC operations via technological platforms and smart contracts, enables a transformative path toward eco-efficient and transparent supply chain practices. The study contributes both theoretically and practically to the discourse on digital trade finance and sustainable development

Impact of Electric Vehicles on the Future E-Commerce Landscape: Challenges & Advantages

The E-commerce landscape has seen a paradigm shift with an increasing demand for door- step delivery and even same day delivery. The convenience of shopping over a handheld mobile devise from the convenience of one’s preferred location is a major driver for the phenomenon growth, development, and expansion of online shopping. The COVID pandemic led lockdowns acted as catalysts expediting this expansion. But with this progress came the menace of rapid expansion of delivery trucks, vans, 3-wheelers, and 2-wheelers that increased not only the congestions within the cities but also added massively to the already deteriorating air quality. Pollution (both air and noise) and congestion, are the two immediate fallouts of the expansion in delivery fleet. This made the fleet owners and businesses turn to the obvious alternative – EVs or electrical vehicles that have the potential to not only cut down harmful emissions but also enhance financial and operational efficiencies. Modern businesses cannot help but improve efficiencies in order to sustain in an immensely competitive and dynamic business environment. This article adds to the literature on EVs and generates insight into the practicability of adopting EVs in the last mile logistics. It highlights that despite being both environment and pocket friendly, the benefits of economy and efficiency looks futile in the face of inadequate availability of charging infrastructure that heightens range anxiety
