Explorative Study on the Impact of Pandemy on the Tourism Services Industry in West Java
Get PDFThe Covid-19 pandemic affects almost all sectors of life. The Covid-19 virus attacks the world's economies, including Indonesia. The tourism sector has even felt its impact since the beginning of 2020. Fear of traveling, both domestic and foreign travel, as well as policies and instructions to stay at home to prevent transmission of the virus, create a domino effect on tourism supporting sectors, such as hotels, restaurants and retail business. In West Java alone, according to the Head of West Java Tourism and Culture Office, Dedi Taufik, as of April 16, 2020, there were 2768 tourism businesses consisting of tourist destinations, hotels, and creative economy activity in closed areas. This resulted in the loss of livelihoods, tens of thousands of tourism workers. In West Java, 33,084 tourism workers were unemployed. Research was carried out in several locations in West Java during the pandemic. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative research, that describes the object of research based on visible facts or as they are. Respondents were selected purposively by selecting 8 respondents according to research objectives including tourism industries agents (restaurants, spas, hotels and MICE), tourism researchers and policy makers (local government)

Corruption and Ports Management: Case of Beirut Port Blast
Get PDFCorruption in ports where many players are working in an environment of a conflicting interest is a perennial problem. This paper argues that internal controls by the ports authorities will be affected by corruption which puts at risk the facilities and the persons. The issues are illustrated with the Lebanon port case where a gigantesque blast took place in July 2020. It is argued that the corruption affected severely the adequate management of the facilities of the port and limits the possibilities of preventing the accident. This paper verifies some hypotheses using publications that addressed the issue before and after the ballast. Our search included peer-reviewed literature, witness journalist reports, politician interviews, reports published by international organizations, and some media articles. Our finding is that the corruption has infiltrated the port of Lebanon and the blast is a logical result of the lack of the control at many levels. What is more, it is appear that the corruption is not to be limited to the port, but it affects also some level of government or type of authorities. Finally, anti-corruption, transparency and accountability mechanisms is difficult to instore in a country where the arms are diluted on the hands of many factions and ravaged by many years of war
E-commerce Delivery: Which Links with the Consumer?

As cities rapidly urbanize and customer service expectations increase, the corpus of research on these topics has become fragmented. The problems of urban logistics have become a widespread area for supply chain companies, due to the growth of e-commerce which allows consumers to design personalized packages, at the location of their choice. This means that consumers can both set the quality standards for delivery and control the performance of e-commerce. The aim of this article is to answer the following questions: (1) How are new consumption patterns changing the logistical pattern of cities? (2) How does e-commerce delivery relate to the final customer? The Covid-19 Pandemic Affecting Tax Compliance of Small and Medium Enterprises in Vietnam
Get PDFThe Covid-19 pandemic had a significant impact on the socio-economic situation in Vietnam. The Government is implementing “dual tasks” to prioritize epidemic prevention while promoting production and business, promoting patriotism, and calling for business colleagues to turn challenges into opportunities, create a driving force for development and re-start the country’s economy. Thus, the study surveyed 450 managers related to the tax of SMEs and answered 16 questions. The data collected from June 2020 to December 2020 at SMEs in Vietnam. The authors applied a simple random sampling technique, tested Cronbach’s Alpha and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), and model testing with Structural Equation Model (SEM) analysis. The finding has three key factors affecting SMEs’ tax compliance in Vietnam with a significance level of 0.01. The Role of Gender on Biosecurity Practices in Beef Cattle Supply Chain Farms in Bone Regency, South Sulawesi
Get PDFAbstract. The aim of this study was to know the role of gender on biosecurity practices in beef cattle farms in Bone Regency, South Sulawesi. Total sample was 51 beef cattle farmers which was chosen through purposive sampling. Data were collected through observation and depth interview by using questionnaire. There was 22 questions which were divided into 5 sub variables: participation, isolation, sanitation, traffic control and other activities. Guttman scale was used to know whether beef cattle farmers take a part on those activities or not. The score was 1 if they DO, and the score was 0 if they DO NOT DO. Data were calculated by using SPSS version 23.0 and were analyzed descriptively by using percentage table. The results showed that the highest percentage was sanitation (69.02%), and the lowest percentage of the role of gender on biosecurity practices in beef cattle farms was participation (13.07%) which consisted of training, seminar and looking for information. On average, the role of men were greater than the role of women on biosecurity practices in beef cattle farms in Bone Regency, South Sulawesi: 54.70% and 45.30% respectively
Generation Z Customer Orientation as an Element of Social Customer Relationship Management
Get PDFBuilding relationships with Generation Z on social media is becoming a challenge for present-day enterprises. Gen Zers have a huge purchasing power, and by 2030 they will be the largest customer base. Customer orientation, as an element of social CRM, enables enterprises to build relationships with customers by appropriately responding to the needs and preferences of their existing and future customers. The aim of the paper was to identify the expectations of surveyed representatives of Gen Zers towards the benefits of customer-company interactions on social media. The study of Generation Z attitudes towards brands on social media is part of broader research conducted by the authors among students in Poland and Great Britain in 2020. The method used in the study was a survey, as part of which the CATI surveying technique was used. For analysis of the study material, descriptive statistics measures were used. Analysis of the collected empirical data provided the basis for verifying the research hypotheses. The findings show what benefits of following a brand on social media by respondents were significant in both the analysed countries. Additionally, the strength of the relationships between the analysed variables and the respondent's gender and place of residence was verified
Overcoming Supply Chain Challenges with Entrepreneurship & Networking Skills

As we move forward from the industrial revolution to the digital information era the importance of the supply chain process has become more and more vital for business sustainability. As the supply chain process of a business becomes more structured over time it incorporates not only process and efficiency, but it also relies on entrepreneurship and networking skills of the business operators. This chapter looks into the case of Bangladesh through an empirical study which was done on 4 growing sectors, namely Real Estate, Furniture and the IT sector. The research data is an attempt to shed some light into a gap in literature regarding supply chain process and how SC is used to tackle business challenges, from the perspective of a nation which has recently been announced as a developing nation.The primary research under consideration looks into four highly potential sectors of Bangladesh. The authors have chosen to go for face-to-face interviews of over 575 business owners/CEOs/Managing Directors to get a detailed perspective of the business challenges they face from their business inception till date and how they use their entrepreneurship skills and the power of networking to mitigate those challenges. The sampling technique chosen was stratified random sampling as there were four different industries with small medium and large companies, all of which have their own business dynamics. Multistage regression analysis was used to decipher the data and bring out a clear picture of how networking is used by these owners to build up their supply chain networks. The study identifies, that in the case of Bangladesh, despite the fact that there are not much institutional support, the courts system remaining a bottleneck due to a combination of red tape and hence not much enforcement of contracts and a shadow of corruption in every sector at every level driving up operational costs; businesses in Bangladesh have continued to expand relying on brand value reputation, reliance of professional networks, to some extent a competitive bidding process and the sheer determination and Entrepreneurs skills of Bangladeshi business owners. The success of certain industries are primarily due to the contribution of human capital where the business owners’ ability to give the business his or her life and make it a successful venture on communication and networking has propelled us towards a steady growth.Key Words: Networking, Entrepreneurship skills, Business Challenge
Real Time Visibility In a Transportation Network of a Complex Supply Chain
Get PDFThe study provides evidences on what are resources and capabilities necessary to achieve real time visibility in a transportation network of a complex supply chain. Strong correlation between subcontracting and untracked shipments suggests resources available within freight forwarders network including systems for storing data on truck and trailer plate numbers, interfaces amongst subcontractors IT systems are of immense importance for achieving real time visibility. On a top of that, digital skills of drivers, privacy concerns are identified as factors affecting data sharing and constraints to achieve real time visibility.
Applying Data Mining Tools in Transportation : Data-Driven Supply Chain View
Get PDFDespite the big data research and relevance of data analysis there has been limited empirical research and implication of data-driven supply chain networks. This paper explores the effect of data-driven supply chain capabilities on transportation (train based). In order to illustrate the shortest path calculation, London Underground Transportation open source data have been analysed through implementing different data mining tools and using programming language Python and R. The findings indicate that a data-driven supply chain has a significant time efficient effect on the logistics support. Coordination, using available data, and supply chain responsiveness are positively and significantly related to time and cost efficient performance.
