Supply Chain Performance Measurement Framework For State-Owned Entities in South Africa

    Get PDF
State-Owned Entities in South Africa remain the major contributor toward socio-economic objectives, the bottom line, quality, value creation and cost savings. Although the National Treasury's Office of the Chief Procurement Officer monitors and evaluates supply chain performance, there is inefficient guidance on executing supply chain performance measurements in state-owned entities. Therefore, this paper aims to suggest a supply chain performance framework suitable for State-Owned Entities in South Africa. The manuscript employs a theoretical literature review on supply chain performance measurement systems and associated metrics. Further study using mixed methods or qualitative research is recommended to understand better the connection between supply chain strategy, SCM regulatory frameworks, SCM practices, and SCM effectiveness. The paper presents a framework that adequately implements supply chain performance measurement in state-owned entities. The study's main limitation was that it was restricted to SOEs registered with the SOEPF; more extraordinary samples from various SOEs would have been ideal. It is recommended that supply chain managers in state-owned entities carefully select supply chain performance measures

    Get PDF
This study examines the involvement of stakeholders in the use of Public Private Partnership (PPP) Projects for effective urban parking in Kampala City, Uganda. Guiding objectives of the study include (a) to examine the relevance of stakeholder theory to the execution of the management contract PPP project by Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) and Multiplex Uganda limited in Kampala (b) to assess stakeholders’ participation in the execution of management contract PPP project by KCCA and Multiplex limited in Kampala. The study adopted cross-sectional and exploratory study designs. Data was collected using both quantitative and qualitative approaches. The study covered a population of 1335 stakeholders of Kampala City Council and Multiplex limited. A sample size of 297 respondents for quantitative part of the study and 35 respondents for qualitative part of the study. The sample random sampling and purposive sampling technique were applied. Target group included, operational and administrative Staff of KCCA and Multiplex Uganda Limited, Drivers under Uganda Transport Development Agency (UTRADA) as well as Private Car Users.  Study findings revealed that the stakeholder theory is relevant to the execution of management contract PPP projects. Further to this, participation of key stakeholders in implementing such PPP Projects leads to effective street parking of urban areas and there is a significant relationship between stakeholder participation in the execution of management contract PPP project and ensuring effective street parking in urban areas. The study recommends that KCC must always ensure that Multiplex limited involves all key stakeholders in the execution of the management contract PPP project such as drivers in meetings when discussing about changes being done.  The changes need to be made for the betterment of work, as stakeholders of Multiplex need to regularly get feedback after meeting. In addition, stakeholders should always be engaged in identifying priority parking spaces

The digitalised world is accelerating at a tremendous pace. Many banks and businesses today offer e-wallets as a way of paying bills. As more and more products and services are being offered online at just a click away, a major concern is the security and privacy of data that is widely being transmitted across cyberspace to support online businesses and payment activities. This is because, there are many cybercriminals who attempt to use methods to make financial gain from unsuspecting online users of apps. There is a wide array of apps available to users including the popular e-commerce applications, ride hailing apps, banking apps, travel apps, chat and social apps and many of these apps are used by cybercriminals, who plant links in such apps to trick users. The aim of this research is to gather information on the extent of e-wallet fraud and whether respondents have heard of bank staff being involved in fraud. The aim is create awareness on how the public can be more aware of the pitfalls of using e-wallet and banking online applications for day to day transactions, particularly through the use of the mobile phone to make a transaction

Supply Chain Performance Measurement Models: A Comparative Study

    Get PDF
The study investigated supply chain performance measurement models based on the primary and the secondary data and the justification of this paper is to evaluate the literature on performance measurement of the supply chain to capture current practices, distinguish gaps and advocate future research prospects used through a comparative study of different supply chain models. As of today, the measurement of supply chain performance is dependent on the Balanced Scorecard (BSC) and the Supply Chain Operations Reference (SCOR) model which requires the adaptation of a holistic approach such as the application of sustainability, and resilient supply chain considering the constant change of the business dynamics. As a result, many manufacturing companies failed to attain a precise performance measurement evaluation due to a lack of an Integrated Supply Chain Performance Measurement (ISCPM) model and knowledge in the manufacturing industry. This study illustrates the Integrated Supply Chain Performance Measurement (ISCPM) model and makes a comprehensive comparison with the BSC and the SCOR model. ISCPM model has been developed through the supply chain performance attributes and performance measurement index in the outlook of input-process-output considering the BSC and the SCOR model at three decisions levels with an application of quantitative techniques to bring synergic effect to all stakeholder issues and incorporates ten supply chain performance measurement attributes and 36 performance measurement indexes as supplier relationship management (SRM), internal supply chain management (ISCM), and customer relationship management (CRM)

Vietnam’s pharmaceutical industry has the potential to create value for the nation. Impact of the COVID-19 epidemic in Vietnam's pharmaceutical industry. This study was conducted on a pilot scale, and we did develop a questionnaire that was sent to pharmacists working in different hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City. This study aimed to create a questionnaire to explore those criteria given the importance of the hospital pharmaceutical supply chain. A well-designed and original questionnaire from which the researcher can conduct a large-scale formal survey. This study targeted a small group of diseases in Ho Chi Minh City. We developed a questionnaire for pharmacists working in the department pharmacy of the hospital and collected responses accordingly. As a result, we have identified and built a questionnaire with 45 observed variables. The study showed that the acceptance level of the observed variables reached the Cronbach's Alpha confidence level above 0.7 and the Corrected Item - Total Correlation value of the accepted observed variable over 0.3. Research results with the absolute value of factor loading above 0.5 are optimal, and the observed variables are statistically significant. This study has identified the observed variables for the factors of the theoretical framework. The study results can establish a measurement for further quantitative research with an expanded research scope in the future
