    Local Government Response to Domestic Violence from Online Gambling: A Legal-Mashlahah Perspective

    This study aims to analyze the efforts of the Surabaya City Government in addressing domestic violence resulting from online gambling, using the perspectives of legal system theory and mashlahah. The focus of the research is on the role of the Surabaya City Office of Women’s Empowerment, Child Protection, Population Control, and Family Planning (DP3AP2KB) as the implementing agency for women and child protection policies. This study employs a qualitative approach, utilizing field studies and in-depth interviews with key informants from the agency, victims of domestic violence, and community leaders. The findings indicate that structurally, DP3AP2KB has undertaken several initiatives through socialization, education, and the provision of legal and psychological assistance for victims. However, the effectiveness of these policies is hindered by the community’s weak legal culture and limited public participation in prevention efforts. From the perspective of Lawrence M. Friedman’s legal system theory, the imbalance between structure, substance, and legal culture remains a major obstacle. Meanwhile, from a mashlahah perspective, the protection of victims and the prevention of domestic violence caused by online gambling are considered essential to preserving the well-being of families and society. Therefore, institutional synergy and the strengthening of legal literacy grounded in religious and social values are necessary to build an effective and sustainable protection system

    There are many materials that must be taught appropriately, especially to elementary school children today. Elementary school students are now growing and developing as digital natives because they are accompanied by the rapid advancement of digital technology since birth. In addition to families, schools also have a fairly central role in adapting and taking action to prevent and handle various problems that arise due to the unwise use of smartphones by students. This article was written to explore what challenges and strategies must be taken by parents, teachers, and schools in teaching Alpha generation students. This paper specifically examines the methods of parents, teachers, and schools related to the research location, namely SD Muhammadiyah Inovatif Baturetno. This article is compiled using descriptive qualitative research. The researcher conducted a literature study that was strengthened by a field study at SD Muhammadiyah Inovatif Baturetno through interviews and observations. The results of the study showed that some upper-class students, namely grades 4, 5, and 6, have personal smartphones. It can be seen that parents have given their children the freedom to access the world without limits. The main task of teachers in this era is very important, not only in creating habits, providing examples, instilling commendable morals, but also teaching students in the classroom in the right way according to the characteristics of the digitally literate generation (generation Alpha). SD Muhammadiyah Inovatif Baturetno has mobilized teachers to teach students interactively and contextually and has carried out various school programs to produce students in the Alpha generation category who are expressive, critical, adaptive, collaborative, have character, and remain based on Islamic values

    This study discusses the implementation of Emotional Spiritual Quotient (ESQ) in shaping students' character at MTs Mursyidul Awwam Cenrana, Bone Regency. The purpose of this study is to analyze teachers’ strategies in applying ESQ to students, identify its implications for character development, and evaluate the impact of ESQ implementation. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method with pedagogical, psychological, and sociological approaches. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation, using observation guidelines, interview guides, and document analysis as research instruments. The data analysis process involves data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The findings indicate that the implementation of ESQ effectively contributes to the emotional and spiritual development of students’ character. Habit-forming activities serve as the foundation for character building. The impact of ESQ implementation at MTs Mursyidul Awwam Cenrana is evident in significant improvements in students' sense of responsibility, discipline, and religious attitude

    Teachers' Perceptions of the Application of Digital Gamification-Based Problem-Based Learning (PBL) to Increase Student Engagement

    This study aims to describe teachers' perceptions regarding the implementation of problem-based learning (PBL) through digital gamification to enhance student engagement. Specifically, it examines teachers' views on the effects and challenges of applying digital gamification-based PBL to improve student activity. The research employs a mixed-methods approach with a sequential explanatory design. Findings indicate that teachers generally hold positive perceptions of integrating PBL with digital gamification. Teachers report that gamification makes learning more engaging and fosters active participation, including questioning, discussion, and opinion expression. Additionally, teachers observe increased enthusiasm, collaboration, and student independence in problem-solving. However, the study also identifies challenges such as limited internet access and devices, varying levels of teachers' digital proficiency, and the need for professional development to design effective digital gamification-based PBL scenarios. Factors supporting successful implementation include adequate school facilities, teacher creativity, and student motivation. Overall, the study concludes that digital gamification-based PBL has the potential to enhance student activity, although its effectiveness depends significantly on technological readiness, institutional support, and teacher pedagogical competenc

    This research aims to identify the level of writing anxiety among tenth-grade students at MAN 5 Bogor and its relationship with their writing skills. The study employs a quantitative correlational method, with a sample of 74 students selected through Proportional Random Sampling from a total population of 285 students. Data collection techniques included a writing anxiety questionnaire based on the Second Language Writing Anxiety Inventory (SLWAI) by Cheng, using a Likert scale, as well as interviews and writing tests. The collected data was analyzed using the Product Moment Correlation formula. The results indicate that students’ writing anxiety falls into the "moderate" category, with an average score of 63.62. Correlation analysis revealed that the rxy value was 0.622, which is higher than the critical values at the 5% significance level (0.229) and the 1% significance level (0.298). Accordingly, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted, and the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected, confirming a statistically significant relationship between writing anxiety and writing skills. However, the strength of this relationship is classified as "moderate," suggesting that while writing anxiety affects writing skills, it is not the sole determinant of students' writing performance

    This article examines the urgency of implementing Islamic inheritance law in Indonesia, which emphasizes justice and public welfare for heirs. Although it has been recognized within the national legal system, its implementation still faces significant challenges. Conflicts among heirs frequently arise due to differing understandings, interests, and limited public knowledge of Islamic inheritance principles and distribution mechanisms. Inadequate education and socialization weaken legal awareness, while varying interpretations among Islamic schools of thought and scholars increase complexity and dispute potential. This article analyzes the root causes of these challenges and proposes strategic solutions, including strengthening public education, simplifying legal procedures, and enhancing the role of relevant institutions in resolving inheritance disputes. The study aims to promote a more just, transparent, and Islamic justice-oriented inheritance system.Artikel ini mengkaji urgensi penerapan hukum kewarisan Islam  di Indonesia, sebuah sistem hukum yang menekankan keadilan dan kemaslahatan bagi seluruh ahli waris. Meskipun telah diakui dan diintegrasikan ke dalam sistem hukum Indonesia, implementasinya masih dihadapkan pada berbagai tantangan signifikan yang menghambat terwujudnya tujuan ideal tersebut. Konflik antar ahli waris, seringkali dipicu oleh perbedaan pemahaman dan kepentingan, menjadi masalah yang umum terjadi. Kurangnya pemahaman masyarakat tentang prinsip-prinsip dasar hukum kewarisan Islam, termasuk mekanisme pembagian harta warisan dan hak-hak masing-masing ahli waris yang memperparah situasi ini. Minimnya edukasi dan sosialisasi yang efektif turut berkontribusi pada rendahnya kesadaran hukum di kalangan masyarakat. Selain itu, perbedaan interpretasi terhadap aturan-aturan hukum kewarisan Islam, yang dipengaruhi oleh beragam mazhab dan pendapat ulama, juga menimbulkan kerumitan dan potensi konflik. Perbedaan ini seringkali menjadi titik perselisihan dalam proses pembagian harta warisan, membutuhkan mediasi dan penyelesaian yang rumit. Jurnal ini menganalisis secara mendalam berbagai tantangan tersebut, mengungkap akar permasalahan, dan menawarkan beberapa solusi strategis untuk meningkatkan efektivitas penerapan hukum kewarisan Islam  di Indonesia. Solusi yang diusulkan meliputi peningkatan program edukasi publik yang komprehensif, penyederhanaan prosedur hukum yang lebih praktis dan mudah dipahami, serta penguatan peran lembaga-lembaga terkait dalam penyelesaian sengketa warisan.     MIND OVER SPEECH: THE ROLE OF ANXIETY IN EFL STUDENTS’ ORAL PRESENTATION PERFORMANCE

    Oral presentation is a crucial academic and professional skill that reflects communicative competence and self-confidence, yet it remains one of the main sources of anxiety among English as a Foreign Language (EFL) learners. Despite extensive research on speaking anxiety, limited attention has been given to the specific demands of oral presentations, where students must perform under evaluation and linguistic pressure. This study aimed to examine the role of anxiety in EFL students’ oral presentation performance, focusing on Saudi female undergraduates at King Khalid University. A quantitative descriptive design was adopted, and data were collected through a validated questionnaire administered to thirty students in the Department of English. The instrument, showing high reliability (Cronbach’s α = 0.81), measured four dimensions: psychological, linguistic, situational, and preparation-related factors. Descriptive statistical analysis using SPSS revealed that psychological anxiety was the most influential variable, followed by preparation and linguistic limitations. Participants reported shyness, fear of mistakes, and concern over negative evaluation as key stressors. Although structured rehearsal improved confidence, overreliance on memorization increased tension. The findings highlight that effective oral performance depends on both linguistic ability and psychological readiness. The study concludes that integrating anxiety-reduction strategies, reflective practice, and confidence-building training within EFL curricula can enhance learners’ oral communication skills and overall performance

    The practice of agricultural trade under a capital-binding system is still widely found in Tekad Village, Pulau Panggung District, Tanggamus Regency. In this system, farmers receive capital in the form of seeds or production supplies from middlemen; however, in return, they are obliged to sell their harvests back to the lenders at prices unilaterally determined. This situation creates an imbalance, as the prices received by farmers are lower than the market value, causing economic disadvantages and raising questions of fairness in such transactions. This study aims to examine the pricing mechanism in the sale and purchase of corn within the capital-binding system and to assess whether the practice aligns with the principles of Islamic economic law. The findings reveal that corn prices are set solely by the middlemen, averaging IDR 4,000 per kilogram, while the market price reaches IDR 4,800 per kilogram. Although some farmers accept these conditions because they feel helped by the initial capital, the practice essentially reduces their rightful profit. From the perspective of Islamic economic law, such unilateral price determination does not reflect the principles of justice and mutual consent that should underpin transactions in muamalah. Therefore, this system needs improvement to ensure greater fairness and compliance with Sharia values.Praktik jual beli hasil pertanian dengan sistem tanpa modal masih banyak terjadi di Desa Tekad, Kecamatan Pulau Panggung, Kabupaten Tanggamus. Dalam sistem ini, petani menerima modal berupa bibit atau kebutuhan produksi dari tengkulak, namun sebaliknya mereka wajib menjual hasil panen kembali kepada pemberi modal dengan harga yang telah ditentukan sepihak. Kondisi ini menimbulkan ketimpangan karena harga yang diterima petani lebih rendah dari harga pasar, sehingga merugikan mereka secara ekonomi dan menimbulkan pertanyaan tentang keadilan dalam transaksi tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana mekanisme penentuan harga jual beli jagung dalam kondisi modal dan menilai apakah praktik tersebut sesuai dengan prinsip hukum ekonomi syariah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa harga jagung ditetapkan sepihak oleh tengkulak, rata-rata sebesar Rp4.000/kg, sementara harga pasar mencapai Rp4.800/kg. Meskipun sebagian petani menerima kondisi tersebut karena merasa terbantu oleh modal awal, praktik ini pada hakikatnya mengurangi hak keuntungan petani. Dari sudut pandang hukum ekonomi syariah, penetapan harga seperti ini belum mencerminkan prinsip keadilan dan kerelaan yang seharusnya menjadi dasar dalam muamalah. Oleh karena itu, sistem ini perlu diperbaiki agar lebih adil dan sesuai dengan nilai-nilai syariah

    Body shaming adalah bentuk bullying yang umum terjadi di kalangan remaja, baik secara langsung maupun melalui media sosial. Tindakan ini berdampak negatif pada kesehatan mental korban, seperti menurunnya rasa percaya diri, stres, hingga depresi. Dalam Islam, body shaming dilarang keras sebagaimana tercantum dalam Al-Qur’an surat Al-Hujurat ayat 11 dan 13, yang menegaskan larangan merendahkan sesama. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif melalui studi literatur dan wawancara, dan menemukan bahwa body shaming berpengaruh besar pada citra diri dan kondisi psikologis remaja. Pencegahan perlu melibatkan keluarga, pendidik, dan masyarakat agar remaja terhindar dari dampak buruk body shaming

    Relasi gender krusial, terutama di masyarakat Muslim dengan hadis sebagai rujukan sentral. Pentingnya topik ini timbul dari potensi interpretasi hadis yang patriarkis untuk melanggengkan ketidaksetaraan gender dan memicu kekerasan, suatu isu hak asasi manusia mendesak. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis konstruksi gender dalam hadis serta implikasinya pada upaya pencegahan kekerasan, mengidentifikasi interpretasi dominan dan alternatif. Metode kualitatif studi pustaka digunakan, mengkaji matan hadis muktabar sebagai data primer dan syarah serta karya ilmiah sebagai data sekunder, dianalisis interpretatif. Temuan menunjukkan hadis memuat dimensi relasi gender beragam: dari penggambaran hierarkis (potensi legitimasi kekerasan) hingga dimensi egaliter kuat (kesetaraan spiritual, kemitraan). Interpretasi hierarkis terbukti berpotensi melegitimasi kekerasan. Sebaliknya, pemahaman egaliter, selaras nilai keadilan dan kasih sayang Islam, menjadi fondasi kuat pencegahan kekerasan. Kebaruan penelitian ini terletak pada analisis kritis dampak interpretasi hadis terhadap isu kekerasan berbasis gender. Ini menekankan urgensi penyebaran pemahaman hadis yang kontekstual dan sensitif gender demi membangun relasi yang adil dan setara di masyarakat Muslim
