    Get PDF
Fingerlings of Clarias gariepinus were stocked into ten tanks at ten fingerlings per tank and subjected to five treatments replicated twice. Fermented wheat waste meal, which was the test ingredient, was included at 0%, 20% 40%, 60% and 80% in five diets formulated at 40% crude protein. The experiment lasted for 70 days. Fish fed with diet D5 had the best growth rate with specific growth rate of 2.20±0.08, feed conversion ratio of 0.08±0.05 and protein efficiency ratio of 0.63±0.04 while fish fed with diet CTR had the least growth rate with specific growth rate of 1.73±0.21, feed conversion ratio of 1.26±0.29 and protein efficiency ratio of 0.41±0.09. The cost of the experimental diets showed that the cost of production of 1kg feed reduced as the level of inclusion of the test diet increased. Hence, fermented wheat waste can replace maize as an energy source in the diet of Clarias gariepinus fingerlings up to 80% inclusion level without adverse effect on growth and nutrient utilization and this will also reduce the cost of production

In high-frequency trading strategies predicting the most accurate price of the securities is the only way to benefit from the markets. This paper presents a new approach to set the functional parameters of the Kalman filter, dynamically according to the market environment changing with respect to the technical analysis indexes, the parameter Q is measured by simple artificial neural network. And feed to the EKF algorithm to predict the next price for the securities. The method is experimented on the securities of the Iran stock exchange market to show its desirability in short-term prediction

A Review of the Implementation of Private Finance Initiatives in UK Hospitals

    Get PDF
Since their inception in 1992, Private Finance Initiatives (PFIs) have become the dominant mode of procurement for UK National Health Service (NHS) hospitals.  The private sector initially finances new initiatives which are then repaid through unitary service charges. Despite a great deal of rhetoric around the promise and potential of this funding mechanism, more recently PFIs have been criticized for bringing some NHS trusts to the brink of bankruptcy.  Moving forward, assessing whether PFIs can achieve their intended purpose; the provision of more sustainable and affordable solutions, is critical in determining their future usefulness. The purpose of this paper is to identify past and current benefits of the PFI, and evaluate post implementation problems. Our results suggest reduced labour costs and greater productivity are paramount, as is sharing risk. However, in measuring whether PFIs have delivered these benefits there has been a dearth of quantitative performance measurement. Additionally little research has concentrated on critical analysis and performance of PFIs, hampering attempts to evaluate the affordability and sustainability of this solution

The present study which is aimed at studying the condition factor of fish speciesof Ogbei Stream was carried out for a period of six months (January – June 2005). Eight (8)species belonging to seven (7) families and four (4) orders were identified from a total of 44individuals. The family Cichlidae was more abundant and more diversified having three (3)species namely Tilapia zilli, Oreochromis niloticus and Parachana obscura. Other familieshad one (1) species of fish each. Tilapia zilli had the highest percentage composition(34.01%) followed by Clarias anguillaris (25.00%). Parachana obscura, Labeo senegalensisand Erpetoichythes calabaricus had equal percentage composition of 02.27%. Five (5,62.5%) of the fish species had condition factor greater than 1.0 while three (3, 37.5%) hadcondition factor value that approximately ranged from 0.1 to 1.0. Thus the fishes especiallyMalapterurus electricus are doing well. It is envisaged that this study will serve as a baselinefor future work and rational management of fishery resources of Ogbei Stream

This research work aimed at studying Physics process in skills and its acquisition by senior secondary students who wish to pursue Physics at Senior Secondary, the subject enables the students to participate in technology related studies in tertiary institutions. Many students opt out of Physics at the end of Senior Secondary level. Physics process skills are central to the acquisition of scientific knowledge which is useful in solving problems in society. Physics science as an integral part of science is known to be very important in a nation’s development. The process skills of physics are invaluable tools for learning physics, and the acquisition of these skills has therefore been greatly emphasized in recent times. However, the often reported poor performance of secondary school students in physics, especially in this research to ask whether secondary school physics students actually acquire and use physics process skills in their study of physics, and to what extent. This study, conducted in Anambra State of Nigeria, was intended to provide empirical evidence to answer these questions. It was further intended to determine how such factors as gender and school location affect students' acquisition of physics process skills. Fourteen (14) physics process skills identified from the National Curriculum for Science (Physics) as the most frequently' occurring skills, were studied. The design of the study was survey in which the researcher studied events as they are in their natural setting. Six research questions were posed and addressed while three hypotheses were formulated and tested at the 0.05 level of significance. A total sample of 756 SS three (3) physics students (514 Boys and 242 Girls) randomly drawn from both, urban and rural secondary schools in two education zones Aguata and Nnewi of Anambra State participated in the study. A Test of Physics Process Skill (TOPPS) designed by the researcher was the instrument used for gathering data. The data collected were analyzed using means and standard deviations for answering the research questions, while the analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used for testing the hypotheses. The major findings of this study are that: (i) the level of acquisition of physics process skills among Anambra State Secondary school physics students was generally low; (ii) gender is a significant factor (p<.05) in the students' level of acquisition of physics process skills, in favour of the male students; (iii) students located in urban schools were significantly superior (p<0.5) to their rural located counterparts in their acquisition of physics process skills; (iv) there was no significant interaction effect (<.05) between gender and school location in students' level of acquisition of physics process skills. A number of educational implications were pointed out and relevant recommendations made. Limitations of the study were noted and suggestions for further research made

urban Scalable Geospatial Proposal for Calculating a Social Capital Score for the Labor Market: İşgücü Piyasası İçin Bir Sosyal Sermaye Puanı Hesaplama Önerisi

    No full text
