Enhancing Religious Behavior and Well-being in Elderly Through Majelis Taklim Al-Sulthan: A Case Study
This study investigates the role of Majelis Taklim Al-Sulthan in improving religious behavior and mental well-being among elderly participants. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, the research delves into the methods and processes used by Majelis Taklim Al-Sulthan and identifies the factors that support and hinder its effectiveness. Data were collected through direct observation, in-depth interviews with religious leaders and elderly participants, and documentation of spiritual activities. Findings reveal that Majelis Taklim Al-Sulthan significantly enhances elderly individuals\u27 religious behavior through educational programs on Islamic teachings, supports social cohesion, and addresses mental health issues. The study underscores the importance of such institutions in providing spiritual and social support to older people, contributing to their overall quality of life. Limitations include the study\u27s focus on a single location and its qualitative nature, suggesting a need for broader research. Recommendations include developing policies and programs to sustain and enhance Majelis Taklim\u27s role in supporting elderly individuals
Prophetic Literacy Education: An Integrative Model of Spirituality, Intellectuality, and Social Action
This study aims to explore a literacy model based on religious values as implemented by the Komunitas Kutub Yogyakarta/Kutub Yogyakarta Community (KKY) and the Forum Penulis Muda Ponorogo (FPM). Prophetic literacy in this study is defined as a literacy approach that integrates three main pillars: spirituality, intellectuality, and social action. Using the Community-Based Research (CBR) method, this study involved active participation from the communities through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and document analysis. The findings reveal that KKY develops spirituality-based literacy through activities such as Qur’anic recitation, dhikr, and religious studies. Meanwhile, the intellectuality aspect is enhanced through scientific discussions and literary studies, which are relevant for improving critical thinking skills. In the social action pillar, KKY excels through literacy outreach programs and independent entrepreneurship development. On the other hand, FPM emphasizes thematic discussions, such as book and essay discussions, as well as social action realized through literacy outreach programs and literary performances. This prophetic literacy model is relevant for implementation in both formal and non-formal education as part of efforts to develop holistic character education based on religious values. Prophetic literacy not only builds technical literacy skills but also instills the values of humanization, liberation, and transcendence, which are essential for addressing the challenges of globalization. The Urgency of Cyber Education in Islamic Education for Indonesia\u27s Golden Generation 2045: A Conceptual Analysis
In the context of Indonesia\u27s ambitious goal to cultivate a Golden Generation by 2045, this article examines the urgent need to integrate cyber education within Islamic educational systems. Through a conceptual analysis grounded in descriptive qualitative methods, the study synthesizes insights from 42 recent scholarly works to propose a strategic framework for embedding digital technologies in Islamic pedagogy. The analysis reveals that cyber education, characterized by its interactivity, flexibility, and global reach, holds transformative potential for Islamic schools. However, its adoption is constrained by significant obstacles, including inadequate technological infrastructure, educators\u27 insufficient digital skills, and a lack of coherent policy frameworks. A SWOT analysis further elucidates the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats associated with cyber education in this context. To overcome these challenges, the study advocates for a comprehensive strategy that includes digital literacy programs, collaborative efforts among stakeholders, and curriculum innovations that harmonize technological advancements with Islamic values. While the research is conceptual and requires empirical substantiation, it offers a valuable foundation for policymakers and educators. The article recommends conducting empirical studies to validate the conceptual model across various educational settings and to foster innovative practices that ensure Islamic education remains relevant and competitive in the digital era
Development of Motion Graphic Video on Class XI Colloid Materials in Increasing Students\u27 Interest in Learning
Colloidal material is an abstract material that causes students to have difficulty learning it. The difficulty of colloidal material causes students\u27 interest in learning to decrease. This research aims to produce motion graphic video-based learning media on colloid system material to increase students\u27 interest in learning. This research uses research and development (R&D) methods with a 4-D model, which consists of four stages, namely define, design, develop, and disseminate. However, this development is limited to the development stage only. The product was reviewed by the supervisor and four peer reviewers and then validated by one material expert and one chemist. The quality of the media was assessed by four reviewers (high school/MA chemistry teachers) and responded to by 10 high school/MA students. The Linkert scale is used as a product quality assessment questionnaire sheet and the Guttman scale is used as a student response questionnaire sheet. The product produced in this research is a chemistry learning video on colloid system material. The assessment results from material experts obtained an ideal percentage of 80% and were included in the good category. The results of the media expert assessment obtained an ideal percentage of 85% and were included in the very good category. The assessment results from the reviewers (four SMA/MA chemistry teachers) obtained an ideal percentage of 91.36% and were included in the very good category. The results of the responses of ten high school students obtained an ideal percentage of 95%. Ethnoscience Studies in Traditional Food of North Maluku "Papeda" and Its Implementation of Chemical Concepts in Science Learning
Ethnoscience is a science learning approach that implements local wisdom (regional culture) using certain cultural products. Local wisdom can be in food and drink, traditional ceremonies, dances, games, and traditional languages. One of the traditional food-based local wisdom is Papeda. Papeda is a traditional food made from sago flour. The purpose of this research is to reconstruct the original science of the community into scientific science and to review the concept of chemistry in science learning in the process of making papeda. The research method used is descriptive qualitative research through interviews and literature studies. The results of this study indicate that the reconstruction of indigenous knowledge into scientific science from the local wisdom of traditional food typical of North Maluku, namely Papeda, can be used as a learning resource for students because it has relevance to various chemical concepts in science learning. Chemical concepts contained in the process of making papeda are substances and their changes, colloids, physical and chemical changes, thermochemistry, macromolecules (especially carbohydrates), and food and nutrients with their relationship to the digestive system
Development of a Mental Model Diagnostic Test using Predict, Observe, Explain (TDM-POE) on Voltaic Cell Materials
Understanding chemical concepts as a whole show that students can connect three levels of chemical representation. The three levels in chemical representation are related and reflected in students\u27 mental models. A teacher must know the student\u27s mental model as a reflection of learning. This research aims to develop an instrument for students\u27 mental models on voltaic cell submaterials using the prediction-observation-explanation (TDM-POE) mental model diagnostic test. The method used in this research is the research and development method using the Analysis, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate (ADDIE) development model. The instrument was validated by five validators consisting of four lecturers in the Department of Chemistry Education and one chemistry teacher at school. Validity is determined by content validity response. Then, the instrument was tested on class XII students who had received learning about voltaic cells. The instrument consists of four questions for four concepts: voltaic cell construction, calculating standard cell potential values, voltaic cells in alkaline batteries, and corrosion phenomena. Each question consists of 3 stages, namely, the first stage contains questions about predicting phenomena (predict), the second stage contains video or image observations (observe), and the third stage contains detailed explanations (explanation). The validation results show that the validity of the TDM-POE instrument obtained a score of 0.99, which is categorized as valid. So, the TDM-POE instrument can be used to understand chemical concepts
The Ethnoscience Study on Eucalyptus Oil Distillation in Buru Island as a Source for Learning Chemistry
Chemistry is a branch of science closely related to daily life. Ethnoscience cannot be separated from science, especially in the study of chemistry. The tradition of distilling eucalyptus oil (Melaleuca cajuputi) on Buru Island has been carried out traditionally for generations. This research aims to analyze and reconstruct the indigenous knowledge of the community in the eucalyptus oil distillation process into scientific knowledge that can be used as a source for learning chemistry. This research used a qualitative approach based on ethnoscience with interview, observation, and documentation methods. Data analysis employs the Miles-Huberman model, which consists of data reduction, data presentation, conclusion drawing, and verification. The results of the research showed that the eucalyptus oil distillation process can be explored in science materials or concepts related to separation techniques, differences in density, phase changes, and substance pressure. The ethnoscience study results indicated the potential of ethnoscience to be applied in chemistry education
Parents\u27 Perception of Bedtime Stories as An Effort to Build Early Literacy
Early literacy is a child\u27s ability to interact with information across media, forming a foundation for cognitive, language, and social development. Research highlights that bedtime storytelling plays an important role in stimulating children\u27s literacy development. However, do parents have the same perspective? This study aims to explore parents\u27 perception of bedtime storytelling as a tool to foster early literacy in children. A mix method was used, with data collected through surveys containing indicators to measure parental perceptions. These findings reveal three important points: First, parents generally have the same and conceptually accurate that bedtime storytelling is important. Second, there is variation in parents\u27 understanding of early literacy, with few fully understanding the concept. Third, parents have a positive perception of the role of bedtime storytelling in building early literacy, although they face challenges such as limited leisure time and a lack of effective storytelling techniques. The study emphasizes the importance of proactive efforts by parents and other stakeholders to overcome these barriers and include bedtime storytelling as a routine habit. This practice can serve as a powerful and fun way to improve children\u27s early literacy skills, fostering a lifelong love of learning and reading
Applying the CIPP Model to Assess the Impact of the Tahfidz Class Program on Quranic Retention
Purpose – This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the Tahfidz Class Program at MTs Negeri 1 Yogyakarta in improving students\u27 Quran memorization by applying the CIPP (Context, Input, Process, Product) evaluation model.
Design/methods– The research adopts a qualitative descriptive approach to provide an in-depth understanding of the program\u27s implementation and outcomes. Data collection methods included structured interviews with program stakeholders, direct observations of program activities, and analysis of institutional records. The CIPP model served as the analytical framework, with data analyzed using the descriptive model by Miles, Huberman, and Saldana, encompassing data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. Triangulation of sources was employed to ensure validity and reliability.
Findings – The program aligns effectively with institutional goals and employs sufficient resources to enhance Quran memorization. The tikrar method significantly strengthens students\u27 retention of Quranic verses. However, only 20% of participants achieved the target of memorizing four chapters, indicating room for improvement in teaching strategies and resource optimization. The findings also highlight the program\u27s role in fostering both religious and academic excellence, though challenges remain in scaling these successes.
Research implications/limitations – The study\u27s scope is limited to a single institution, and its reliance on qualitative data may affect the generalizability of findings. Further research should explore broader implementations across diverse educational settings and examine innovative strategies for enhancing Quran memorization.
Practical implications – The study provides actionable insights for improving the Tahfidz Class Program, including better resource allocation, refined teaching methods, and clearer target-setting mechanisms. These findings can inform similar programs in other institutions seeking to balance religious and academic education.
Originality/value – This research offers a comprehensive evaluation of a specialized Quran memorization program using the CIPP model, demonstrating its applicability in educational program assessments. It contributes valuable insights into the integration of systematic evaluation frameworks in enhancing both the efficiency and impact of religious education programs
Leadership Dynamics and Organizational Advancement in Non-Formal Education: A Case Study of PKBM Karya Manunggal
Purpose – This study examines leadership practices at PKBM Karya Manunggal to understand how leadership influences the success of non-formal education institutions.
Design/methods – A qualitative case study approach was used, employing in-depth semi-structured interviews with the head of the institution. Data were analyzed thematically, and member checking was applied to ensure data validity and reliability.
Findings – Inclusive and participatory leadership practices contributed to operational development, improved facilities, increased student enrollment to 78, and graduate success, despite challenges such as low student engagement, accreditation difficulties, and limited tutor involvement.
Research implications/limitations – The focus on a single institution limits the generalizability of the results, suggesting the need for broader comparative studies across non-formal education centers.
Practical implications – The findings highlight the importance of professional development, technological integration, curriculum enhancement, community engagement, and alumni network development to strengthen institutional sustainability.
Originality/value – This study offers original insights into leadership strategies in Indonesian non-formal education and provides actionable recommendations for strengthening educational equity and institutional resilience
