Well-Being of Infants Through Touch: The Effects of Massage on Sleep Quality and Weight Gain in the First 0-12 Months

    No full text
The initial stage of an infant\u27s life, from 0 to 12 months, is a critical period in their development. Growth optimization during this period depends on nutrition, emotional support, and early stimulation. Particularly, an infant\u27s sleep quality is a key adaptive mechanism that influences their growth and well-being. This study aims to understand the impact of infant massage on the sleep quality of infants aged 0-12 months and to evaluate the influence of infant massage on weight gain in this age group. Therefore, this study conducts a systematic review of the impact of infant massage on infants aged 0-12 months, using the PubMed and Google Scholar databases from 2018 to 2023. Of 855 articles, 29 met the inclusion criteria according to PRISMA guidelines. The results show that regular infant massage, ideally 3-4 times a week for 15-30 minutes, significantly improves sleep quality and weight gain in infants aged 0-12 months. The effectiveness of infant massage is influenced by various factors such as environmental conditions, daily nutrition, massage routines, daily activities of the baby, and health conditions. This study implies that infant massage can be an important and effective intervention to support healthy infant growth and development, particularly in improving sleep quality and weight gain in infants aged 0-12 months, thereby encouraging the incorporation of infant massage as an integral part of daily baby care

Parental Education and Gadget Knowledge: Their Impact on Gadget Use Behavior in Children Aged 5-6 Years

    No full text
This study investigates the relationship between parental education levels, gadget knowledge, and the gadget use behavior of children aged 5-6 years. Using a quantitative correlational research methodology, data were collected via a structured questionnaire from 168 parents across Indonesia. The questionnaire assessed parental education, knowledge of gadget use, and children\u27s gadget use behavior. Results showed no significant correlation between parents\u27 education levels and children\u27s gadget use behavior. However, a low positive correlation was identified between parents\u27 gadget knowledge and children\u27s gadget use behavior. This suggests that parents with higher gadget knowledge can more effectively manage their children\u27s gadget use. This finding underscores the importance of enhancing parental understanding of digital technology to foster healthier gadget use among young children. Limitations of the study include reliance on self-reported data and a predominantly maternal sample, which may only partially represent the broader population. Additionally, the cross-sectional nature of the study limits the ability to conclude long-term effects. Future research should involve more diverse samples, consider additional variables such as socio-economic status and cultural factors, and employ longitudinal designs to explore the long-term impacts of parental gadget knowledge on children\u27s development. These steps are essential to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the factors influencing children\u27s gadget use behavior and to inform strategies aimed at promoting healthier digital habits among young children

    No full text
Purpose – This study aims to discuss the paradigm of environmental ethics education in pesantren, focusing on the integration of Islamic values and environmental awareness. The importance of this research lies in understanding how pesantren, as Islamic educational institutions, contribute to environmental sustainability through their teachings and practices, while addressing the empirical evidence gap regarding the effectiveness of such education. Design/methods/approach – Utilizing a qualitative case study approach, this research explores the Darularafah Raya Pesantren in Deli Serdang, North Sumatra. Data were collected through participatory observations, in-depth interviews with key stakeholders (including teachers, students, and pesantren administrators), and document analysis of curriculum materials and official records. Thematic analysis was employed to identify and analyze key themes related to the integration of Islamic values and environmental ethics. Findings – The study reveals a holistic approach at Darularafah Raya Pesantren, where Islamic teachings are closely integrated with environmental ethics. Key findings include specialized training for teachers to impart environmental values in daily lessons, extracurricular programs supporting environmental awareness, and the adoption of sustainable practices such as waste management and renewable energy use. The pesantren curriculum emphasizes concepts such as khalifah (stewardship) and amanah (responsibility), which are taught alongside practical environmental conservation activities. Research implications – These findings highlight the potential of pesantren as models for other Islamic educational institutions in promoting environmental sustainability. By integrating Islamic values with environmental ethics, pesantren can shape individuals who are both spiritually and environmentally conscious. Future research should focus on comparative studies across different pesantren and longitudinal studies to assess long-term impact

This study aims to analyse the relationship between communication skills, collaboration, and metacognition to student learning outcomes in the subject of Chemical Engineering Operations. Communication skills refer to students\u27 skills in conveying ideas, discussing, and understanding concepts through verbal and nonverbal interactions. Collaboration includes student cooperation in solving chemical engineering problems as a team, while metacognition refers to students\u27 awareness of the thinking process and learning strategies used. Learning outcomes are measured through students\u27 conceptual understanding and practical skills in completing chemical engineering operational tasks, such as process calculations, system analysis, and operational efficiency evaluations. The study uses a quantitative method with a correlational approach to measure the influence of these variables on learning outcomes. The research sample consisted of students in the Chemical Engineering class at SMK Negeri Ngasem, with a total of 100 respondents who were randomly selected. Data was collected through learning outcome tests, observation sheets, questionnaires, and interviews. The results of the analysis showed that communication skills, collaboration, and metacognition had a significant influence on student learning outcomes. Collaboration and metacognition skills make a more dominant contribution than communication. This study concludes that improving communication, collaboration, and metacognition skills in an integrated manner can improve student learning outcomes in the subject of Chemical Engineering Operations. Thus, it is recommended that educators integrate active learning strategies that focus on group discussions, problem-based learning, and metacognitive reflection to support more effective learning

    No full text
This study explores the role of principal supervision in enhancing the quality of educational administration services at MAN 1 Kepahiang, using a descriptive qualitative methodology. The research aims to provide insights into the supervisory practices of the principal and their impact on administrative functions. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and document reviews, involving the principal, vice-principals, and administrative staff. The analysis follows Miles and Huberman\u27s interactive model, comprising data collection, reduction, visualization, and conclusion drawing. Results indicate that effective principal supervision, characterized by a collaborative and democratic approach, significantly improves the quality of educational administration. The principal’s dual role as a manager and supervisor enhances teacher and staff performance through continuous training and problem-solving strategies. Implications of these findings suggest the need for principals to adopt proactive supervisory roles to foster a culture of continuous improvement. The study’s limitations include its focus on a single institution and the subjective nature of qualitative methods. Future research should consider broader scopes and mixed-method approaches to generalize findings and further examine effective supervisory strategies
