Integrating Tembang Bocah Banyumasan into the PGMI Curriculum for Prospective Elementary School Educators: A Step PGMI Curriculum Towards Decolonizing Music Education

    No full text
This study examines the integration of Tembang Bocah Banyumasan into the PGMI curriculum at UIN Saizu Purwokerto as a decolonizing intervention in music education. In the PGMI context, the longstanding dominance of Western music has limited pre-service teachers’ exposure to local musical knowledge, weakened cultural rootedness, and produced learning practices that are insufficiently aligned with Indonesia’s cultural diversity. The paper aims to examine how this integration unfolds through three key phases: critical awareness, reappropriation, and emancipation and knowledge production, where students create and perform works that integrate local culture, Islamic values, and environmental awareness. The research employs a qualitative descriptive approach, analyzing curriculum structure, weekly learning stages, and empirical findings from student engagement. The results indicate that integrating Tembang Bocah Banyumasan fosters cultural identity, critical thinking, and creativity among PGMI students, while also contributing to a more inclusive, contextually relevant curriculum for elementary schools. Challenges, such as limited access to traditional instruments, were addressed through digital tools and local artist collaborations, ensuring a meaningful and adaptable learning experience. The findings suggest that this integration not only decolonizes music education but also bridges the gap between university and elementary school curricula, offering a model for inclusive and culturally responsive teaching

Purpose – Competent teachers have the ability to confront and design high-quality instruction that plays a pivotal role in nurturing the multifaceted development and equilibrium of students. Nevertheless, some research has revealed that there is a need for enhancement in teachers\u27 competencies with regards to their knowledge, skills, and attitudes. In this context, a comprehensive review of the literature was undertaken to examine the many themes associated with the competence of teachers in instructing the Special Class on Quranic Recitation and Memorization Skills (KKQ) inside educational institutions. Methods – The present study employs a qualitative approach, utilizing the design of document content analysis to examine journal articles. Four widely utilized databases, notably Google Scholar, ResearchGate, Mendeley, and Malaysian Citation Index, are employed to conduct searches for scholarly publications released within the period of 2019 to 2023. In this study, a comprehensive analysis was conducted on a set of 30 publications that satisfied the established criteria. Findings – The analysis revealed the identification of six distinct themes pertaining to teacher competencies. These topics encompassed pedagogical knowledge, content knowledge, curriculum knowledge, knowledge of the background of students, and teacher skills. Research implications – The findings of this study suggest that stakeholders, at both the Ministry of Education Malaysia level and the implementation level of the program in schools, should prioritize the Special Class on Quranic Recitation and Memorization Skills. This attention is necessary to enhance and improve the competency of teachers, ultimately leading to the successful achievement of the goal of producing Quranic-skilled and passionate students. Originality/value – Further research is required to assess the proficiency of teachers in employing e-learning and multimedia tools for KKQ teaching

Design/methods/approach – This study used a phenomenological approach that aims to obtain an understanding of the hard skills and soft skills taught in the PLP program. Moreover, the study also explained what types of hard skills and soft skills were trained during the PLP. This phenomenological research explored the experience of prospective teacher students participating in PLP. The research data was taken through in-depth interviews with interview guidelines made for 20 PLP participating students at the two host universities in Purwokerto and the Special Region of Yogyakarta. Data analysis used data reduction, presentation, and interpretation. Findings – The study results found that the teaching of hard skills and soft skills has been integrally applied in the program through the existing curriculum. Methods of mentoring, field practice, evaluation, and improvement have been used in the PLP program. Meanwhile, the types of hard and soft skills provided consist of ethics, communication, learning design, and evaluation making. Research implications/limitations – The respondents of this study were limited to the coverage of two regions, namely Central Java and the Special Region of Yogyakarta, leading to the research limitation. Expanding the research location and using other quantitative research can strengthen the results of this study. No full text
Purpose – Today, Muslims face considerable challenges in the era of the industrial revolution. On the one hand, there is the threat of liberalization that erodes spiritual values and Islamic teachings fundamentally. On the other hand, there is radicalization that uses violence in the name of religion, such as threats, terror, disbelief, and murder. They are serious problems that require efforts to understand the linkage between intolerant behavior and religious teachings. Design/methods/approach – This study is library research conducted through the steps of recording, clarifying, reducing, and presenting data using documentation methods from primary and secondary sources. The data analyzed by the content analysis method includes the meaning of wasathiyah Islam, religious moderation, the concept of wasathiyah Islam in the Qur\u27an, Surat Al-Baqarah verse 143, and moderation-based Islamic education. Findings – This research found that religious moderation can be applied to Islamic Education subjects through various approaches. Subjects such as Aqidah, Akhlaq, Fiqh, Tarikh, and Al-Qur\u27an Hadith integrate the wasathiyah values by emphasizing tolerance, dialogue, justice, and benefit from an Islamic perspective. Learning approaches, like problem-solving, inquiry, and discussion, have encouraged students to think multiperspective, discover new knowledge, and respect the ideas of others, both inside and outside of school. Research implications/limitations – This research provides important implications for the development of Islamic education based on religious moderation, especially through a curriculum that can integrate the values of tolerance, justice, and balance in learning. However, it is still limited to a literature approach, so further research is required with an empirical approach to measure the effectiveness of applying these values in various educational contexts. Originality/value – This research offers a unique perspective by using the concept of wasathiyah Islam to support Islamic education based on religious moderation. The novelty value lies in the elaboration of the implementation of moderation in various subjects, such as Aqidah, Akhlaq, Fiqh, Tarikh, and Al-Qur\u27an Hadith, which can be a model for the development of inclusive and tolerant education

Analysis of nahwu errors is the linguistic analysis of errors in terms of nahwu by defining, describing, and explanation of those errors. Grammar errors occur due to ignorance of nahwu rules. One of the nahwu rules used by the students at Gontor for Girls is the rule of the ‘adad and the ma’dūd. The students understand numbers in Arabic but find it challenging to apply the correct rule of the \u27adad and the ma’dūd due to a lack of understanding of that rule. This research aims to identify the forms of errors and analyze nahwu errors in the ‘adad and the ma’dūd for the third grade at Darussalām Islamic Institution Gontor for Girls for the academic year 2022-2023.
