Cultivating Openness, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness, and Neuroticism (OCEAN) Personality in Madrasah Education: The Impact of Leadership, Institutional Ethos, and Teacher Role Models on Student Development
This study addresses the limited research on how external factors influence student personality development within Madrasahs, focusing on the OCEAN personality dimensions: Openness, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness, and Neuroticism. It examines the effects of Madrasah head leadership, institutional culture, and teacher role models on shaping these traits in students at State Islamic Senior High Schools (MAN) in DKI Jakarta. Using a quantitative approach, the research involved 337 respondents, including both teachers and students, and employed multiple linear regression analysis to test the relationships between the independent variables and student personality traits. The findings indicate that leadership, culture, and teacher behavior significantly and positively affect the development of students’ personalities. These results highlight the co-contributory role of strong leadership, inclusive school culture, and exemplary teaching behavior in fostering holistic student development. The study concludes that effective educational environments contribute not only to academic success but also to students’ emotional well-being and life skills. Notably, principals' leadership strategies were found to significantly influence students' personality development in madrasahs, suggesting that variations in leadership practices across different institutions may impact the generalizability of the findings. Consequently, the study offers recommendations for strengthening leadership and role modeling within Islamic educational institutions
Strategic Model for Improving Instructor Service Quality: The Role of Visionary Leadership, Organizational Culture, Empowerment, Achievement Motivation, and Trust
This study investigates the influence of visionary leadership, organizational culture, empowerment, achievement motivation, and trust on the quality of instructor services for vocational teachers in the fields of business and tourism in DKI Jakarta. The study focuses on alumni of upskilling and reskilling programs conducted by the Center for Development and Quality Assurance of Vocational Education for Business and Tourism (Balai Besar Pengembangan Penjaminan Mutu Pendidikan Vokasi/BPPMPV Bisnis dan Pariwisata). Using a quantitative approach, the research applies path analysis to examine direct and indirect relationships among variables, with achievement, motivation and trust serving as mediators. Results show that all five independent variables significantly affect instructor service quality, with visionary leadership and organizational culture positively influencing motivation, while organizational culture and empowerment impact trust. To enhance practical applicability, the study employs the Scientific Identification Theory to Conduct Operation Research in Education Management (SITOREM) to identify priority areas for improvement. The analysis highlights key low-performing indicators—such as responsiveness, assurance, and clarity in leadership vision—that hold high strategic value. The findings contribute a comprehensive and evidence-based model for improving the quality of instructor services in vocational education. Furthermore, this study provides actionable insights for policymakers, training institutions, and educational leaders in developing targeted strategies to improve professional development outcomes and institutional performance
A Bibliometric Study of Research Trends in Arabic Language Bilingualism (1986-2024)
This study aims to map the research landscape of Arabic language bilingualism through a comprehensive bibliometric analysis covering the period from 1986 to 2024. The increasing global prevalence of bilingualism, particularly among Arabic speakers in countries where Arabic is not the primary language, underscores the need for a systematic understanding of how research in this field has evolved. This study collected data from the Scopus database and applied bibliometric methods, including citation analysis, co-authorship network mapping, and journal quartile evaluation, using Microsoft Excel, Publish or Perish (PoP), and VOSviewer. Students’ Arabic language acquisition occurred in both settings and was influenced by several aspects, including psychological factors
Developing the Traditional Game Engklek to Teach Arabic Grammar in Madrasah Tsanawiyah
Learning Arabic, particularly grammar, is often considered difficult and uninteresting by students because conventional methods tend to lack engaging learning activities. In line with the contextual learning theory, the use of traditional game-based media can enhance students’ motivation, engagement, and conceptual understanding. One form of local wisdom that has the potential to be adapted for learning is the traditional game Engklek. This study aimed to develop Engklek-based learning media as a tool for teaching Arabic grammar in an Islamic junior high school employing the Dick and Carey development model (analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation). The game design was tailored to grammar material, including exercises in taṣrīf lughawī (verb conjugation) and matching ḍamīr (pronouns) with their meanings. Validation by material and media experts indicated that the product was valid and suitable for use. A limited trial involving 21 students yielded an average feasibility score of 80.7%, with enthusiastic and participatory student responses. The findings demonstrate that the Engklek learning media effectively improved students’ understanding of Arabic grammar while contributing to the preservation of local culture. This study highlights the importance of integrating local wisdom into Arabic language learning innovations to create meaningful, contextual, and sustainable learning experiences
Management in Shaping Akhlakul Karimah According to the Qur'anic Concept
Interpretation of Surah Al-Araf verse 179, Surah Al-Ahzab verse 21, and Surah Al-Baqarah verse 26 related to the management of noble morals in the Quran, reveals that these verses contain implicit meanings about morals in the modern era that are increasingly declining. This study is a library research conducted by collecting data through readings, books, and relevant literature. The results of the study: show that the management of noble morals is in line with Surah Al-Araf verse 179 which states that Hell is provided for jinns and humans who do not use reason, sight, and hearing that Allah has given in the best possible way; in Surah Al-Ahzab verse 21, the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) is described as a benchmark of life and an example for humanity with four characteristics: 1. Shidiq (truth), 2. Amanah (trustworthy), 3. Fathanah (wisdom), and 4. Tabligh (dissemination); Meanwhile, in the letter of Al-Baqarah verse 26, it is emphasized that obedience to Allah is the most important, because Allah will mislead those who do not want to believe and be pious, as an example of a mosquito that teaches that even small creatures obey Him. In contrast, humans gifted with reason, heart, and mind often do not want to believe and be pious, so they become wicked
THE LEGAL POLITICS OF MINING MANAGEMENT IN ACEH AFTER THE ENACTMENT OF LAW NUMBER 3 OF 2020 ON MINERAL AND COAL MINING
Abstract. The enactment of Law Number 3 of 2020 on Mineral and Coal Mining has had an impact on Aceh as a special autonomous region in the management of mining activities. The ratification of this law is considered to be in conflict with Law Number 11 of 2006 on the Governance of Aceh and Government Regulation Number 3 of 2015 concerning National Government Authority in Aceh. Aceh’s special status in the mining sector includes the authority to issue Mining Business Licenses. In response to this issue, the Aceh Government, through letter Number 543/11240, affirmed its stance on maintaining Aceh's special authority in managing mineral and coal mining. Subsequently, the Ministry of Home Affairs issued Letter Number 118/4773/OTDA, reaffirming that the Central Government retains authority to determine Norms, Standards, Procedures, and Criteria (NSPK) related to mining affairs, human resource development supervision, and foreign investment (PMA) matters. This study employs a normative legal research method with a statutory approach. The aim of the study is to examine the legal politics of mining management in Aceh following the enactment of Law Number 3 of 2020, particularly in the context of its special autonomy. The study further seeks to analyze and describe the harmonization of both legal frameworks in determining the special authority of Aceh in mining management. The research findings show that, normatively, the provisions of Law Number 3 of 2020 also apply to the regions of Yogyakarta, DKI Jakarta, Aceh, West Papua, and Papua, insofar as no specific law regulates otherwise for these regions. With the enforcement of this law, Aceh's authority in the mining sector, as previously granted under Law Number 11 of 2006, has been reduced. Based on an Instruction from the Governor of Aceh, mining management in Aceh continues to operate as usual. This is supported by an Instruction from the Ministry of Home Affairs, which confirms that Aceh may disregard provisions of the new law if there are existing regulations specifically governing mineral and coal mining in the region
Determinants of Migration to Accrual Accounting For the Central and Devolved Governments in Kenya
Kenya’s public sector accounting is grappling with ongoing challenges that undermine fiscal transparency and accountability at both the national and county levels. Specifically, there are issues with accounting practices, such as unverified expenditures, missing financial records, and inconsistencies in financial reporting. The current paper assessed the determinants of migration to accrual accounting for the central and devolved Governments in Kenya. The specific objectives included; establishing the effect of the adequacy of budgetary resources and internal financial controls on migration to accrual accounting for the central and devolved Governments in Kenya. The study was grounded on positive accounting theory. It adopted a desk research approach and utilized a descriptive research design. This design was suitable for synthesizing the existing information published in peer-reviewed journals and reports. Purposive sampling guided journal selection. As a literature review, it relied on secondary information from studies related to accrual accounting. Data was analyzed qualitatively in line with the research problem and objectives. Findings from the analyzed empirical studies show that Kenya’s migration to accrual accounting in both central and devolved governments is determined by the adequacy of financial resources and the effectiveness of internal financial controls. It can concluded that the effective shift to accrual basis accounting in the public sector of Kenya depends on adequate allocation of financial resources and effective control systems. It is recommended that central and devolved governments prioritize funding to support personnel development and system enhancements essential for accrual basis accounting
