Modeling Illiteracy Rate in Indonesia with Spatial Regression

The illiteracy rate (ILR) serves as an indication of educational attainment, representing the percentage of individuals aged 15 and older who lack reading and writing skills. Despite a reduction in Indonesia's ILR to 3.33% in 2024, the objective of eliminating it entirely remains a priority to fulfill the fourth aim of The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030. This research seeks to estimate Indonesia's rate of illiteracy by examining relevant elements, including the number of individuals living in poverty, mean years of schooling, and gross enrollment ratio. The data is obtained from the BPS-Statistics Indonesia. This study employs spatial regression, utilizing an area-based methodology to capture spatial impacts among regions and analyze them with R software. The analysis results indicate that a) the chosen weighted matrix is k-Nearest Neighbor, b) the selected spatial model for the illiteracy rate in Indonesia is the Spatial Durbin Model (SDM), and c) mean years of schooling and gross enrollment ratio within a province significantly affect the illiteracy rate in that province, which may indirectly elevate the illiteracy rate in neighboring regions

ANALISIS SISTEM INFORMASI AKUNTANSI PEMBAYARAN PAJAK KENDARAAN BERMOTOR PADA BADAN PENDAPATAN DAERAH PROVINSI SULAWESI UTARA UPTD PPD SAMSAT MANADO

This study aims to analyze the accounting information system at the Regional Revenue Agency of North Sulawesi Province, UPTD PPD Samsat Manado, to evaluate its conformity with good accounting information principles. This descriptive qualitative research uses in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation to obtain valid and comprehensive data. The research findings indicate several systemic obstacles. In the online payment system, the identified issues include network disruptions, limited features, and suboptimal data integration. Meanwhile, the offline payment system faces potential delays in recording, long queues, and a risk of fraud or manipulation in direct transactions. Furthermore, the data backup system for the Samsat database is not yet optimal, which risks hindering services during technical disruptions. These obstacles hinder the achievement of transparency, accuracy, and effectiveness in motor vehicle tax collection. Despite these issues, the accounting information system implemented by the Regional Revenue Agency generally operates in accordance with accounting principles and regional financial administration procedures. The system encompasses the processes of recording, processing, and reporting local tax revenue, supported by applications such as SIMDA or SIPD. Therefore, a comprehensive evaluation of the accounting information system is crucial for improving service quality and taxpayer compliance

Promoting Gender Awareness Through Digital Storybook: A Case Study in Grade 10 Senior High School ELT

This study investigates how digital storybooks can help high school English classes in the tenth grade become more gender aware. Few research have looked at how secondary school students react critically to gender narratives, despite the fact that many earlier studies have looked at gender bias in children's novels and textbooks. Eight students engaged with the digital storybook Too Young to Marry. Through focus groups, role-reversal exercises, and guided reading using a qualitative case study design. To find out how students felt about gender equality and representation, data were subjected to thematic analysis. The findings showed that pupils could recognize both gender stereotypes—like girls being coerced into child marriage—and counter-stereotypes—like male characters who defy patriarchal expectations. Students' opinions on equality, especially with regard to education as a right for both sexes, were impacted by reading and debating the storybook. Additionally, by encouraging empathy and critical thinking, the role-reversal exercises helped students question cultural norms and envision more just alternatives. According to the study's findings, digital storybooks can be an effective means of fostering literacy development, advancing gender equality in secondary education, and fusing language acquisition with social consciousness

This study investigates students' perceptions of integrating local wisdom into creative writing, focusing on poetry in the Indonesian educational context. The research employs a mixed-method approach, combining quantitative data from surveys and qualitative insights from interviews, to explore students’ experiences, engagement, and challenges in writing poetry that reflects their cultural heritage. Findings reveal that while students generally perceive local wisdom integration positively, enhancing both cultural connection and creative expression, they also face notable challenges, particularly related to language translation and personal relevance. The study underscores the need for culturally responsive pedagogy that balances local content with creative freedom, fostering deeper engagement in creative writing education

The Public Service Agency (BLU) Paradox: Why Budget Achievements Don’t Always Reflect Superior Performance

This study aims to critically examine the financial performance of Pattimura University under the Public Service Agency (BLU) framework during the 2019–2024 period. Specifically, it investigates the university’s fiscal independence, budget effectiveness, and operational efficiency to assess the extent to which financial flexibility translates into institutional advancement. Quantitative data analysis reveals consistently high effectiveness in revenue realization and exceptional operational efficiency—indicating strong financial discipline. However, the fiscal independence ratio remained modest, fluctuating between 35% and 45%, and dropped to its lowest point in 2024. This modest fiscal independence highlights the need for improvement in this area. More importantly, despite these favorable financial metrics, Pattimura University continues to hold a B level institutional accreditation. This discrepancy illustrates a core paradox: robust financial performance under the BLU model does not automatically lead to superior academic or institutional outcomes. The findings suggest that financial autonomy, while necessary, is insufficient unless integrated with strategic investment in academic quality, research capacity, and institutional governance

The results of the study on the application of restorative justice in cases of minor assault within the Lombok Tengah Police Department were conducted in accordance with the mechanisms or rules outlined in Police Chief Regulation year 2021. In addition, the police offered reconciliation efforts to the victims and suspects based on cases that met the criteria for restorative justice and involved several other parties, such as religious leaders, traditional leaders, and community leaders, without any pressure, coercion, or intimidation from the Central Lombok Police, who acted as facilitators of minor assault cases. Second, the challenges faced in the implementation of restorative justice at the Lombok Tengah Police Station in resolving criminal cases of assault within the community include determining the value of compensation or restitution. Second, there are differing opinions between the victim and the victim's family regarding the peace efforts, where the victim does not wish to reconcile, while the victim's family desires reconciliation, considering long-term implications

Disparity in Judges' Decisions in Narcotics Crime Cases

The purpose of this study is to analyze the disparity in judges' decisions in narcotics crime cases at the Praya District Court and to analyze the disparity in narcotics crime cases according to the theory of justice. This research is a normative legal study using a statutory approach, a conceptual approach, and a case approach. Legal materials were analyzed using literature and the internet. The results of the study indicate that disparity in judgments is influenced by several factors, including differences in legal interpretation by judges, the absence of standard sentencing guidelines, and subjectivity in considering aggravating and mitigating circumstances. Aggravating factors include the defendant's prior criminal record. Mitigating factors include the defendant's cooperative attitude during the trial and a promise not to repeat the offense in the future. Disparity in narcotics-related criminal cases, according to the theory of justice, is viewed from the enforcement of the law to achieve the desired legal justice. Different sentences for similar cases can be considered unfair, as they disregard the principle of “proportionality” between the offense and the punishment. From the perspective of justice theory, this disparity contradicts the principles of distributive and retributive justice because it results in unequal treatment of offenders with similar criminal acts

Illocutionary Speech Acts in Song Lyrics Golden by HUNTR/X

The 2025 Netflix film K-Pop: Demon Hunters and its chart-topping single “Golden” mark a new milestone in the globalization of the Korean Wave, exemplifying Western media’s creation of authentic, hybrid K-pop content for a global audience. This study seeks to elucidate the linguistic strategies underlying the song’s success by identifying, classifying, and analyzing the illocutionary speech acts in its lyrics. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach and Searle’s five categories of illocutionary acts, the research conducts a close reading to determine the pragmatic function of each utterance. The findings show that, of the 39 utterances analyzed, expressive acts are the most prevalent type (44%), followed by commissive acts (36%). Representative (13%), directive (5%), and declarative (3%) acts appear more sparingly to establish the narrative and mark pivotal shifts. The dominance of expressive and commissive acts suggests that the song’s communicative force derives primarily from articulating psychological states and committing to future actions, rather than merely recounting events. This linguistic emphasis on emotional transformation and empowerment is central to how “Golden” convincingly performs an authentic K-pop identity despite its English lyrics and Western production
