Conceptual metaphors in Abu Qasem Echabi's The Will to Life: A Cognitive semantic approach
Since the publication of Lakoff and Turner’s seminal book More Than Cool Reason (1989), several studies have been done on poetic metaphor in literature, as reflected in the works of Jaberi et al. (2016), Al-Jumaili, (2020), Johansson (2016), Kravets et al. (2021), and Marugina et al. (2014), showing that conceptual metaphor is pervasive in literature. However, to the best of our knowledge, no single study has offered a systematic cognitive analysis of the poems written by the famous Tunisian romantic poet Ab? Q?sem Ech?b?. This study tried to fill this gap, at least partially. It provided a cognitive semantic analysis of Ech?b?’s poem The Will to Life, by using the CMT theoretical framework, as propounded by Lakoff and Johnson (1980) and Kövecses (2002, 2017). The study aimed at identifying the conceptual metaphors underlying Ech?b?’s The Will to Life. It used the methodological tools proposed by CMT, such as linguistic metaphor, conceptual metaphor, target domain (TD) and source domain (SD). Data analysis identified several conceptual metaphors in which abstract concepts, such as LIFE, HOPE, DIGNITY, BEAUTY, DREAM and FREEDOM were reified or personified. This study corroborated the CMT claim that humans- poets and non poets alike - “live by metaphors.
Semiotic study of idioms related to the royal court of Danxome in Benin Republic (ex Dahomey)
This paper undertook a semiotic analysis and interpretation of idiomatic expressions that were used in the former royal court of Danxome in Republic of Benin (Ex Dahomey). The qualitative analysis based on the Saussurian and Piercian views on semiotics was applied on a corpus of idioms collected from primary sources with close links with descendants of the kingdom. The results achieved were forceful in disclosing three main patterns of the analysed idioms. First, they uncovered the presence of culturally loaded idiomatic centres that represent the keys to unlocking the intended meanings therein contained. Secondly, the very phrasing of some of the idioms displayed the hierarchical organisation that was intrinsic to the royal court. Thirdly, a further investigation into their intended content disclosed an association of both spoken and sign language in the delivery of the message conveyed through some specific idiomatic expressions of the royal court of Danxome. These results led to the conclusion that the idioms used in this royal court were more than mere language for daily ordinary interactions. Rather, they represented real artefacts, encapsulating the culture, the history and the social relationships that best represent and portray such a restricted social and linguistic community

Strategy for quality culture development of construction implementing service companies in running a quality management system based on professional culture and national culture to reduce construction failure rates
The purpose of this study is to provide an overview of quality culture related to professional culture and national culture that influence each other in contracting companies, especially in Indonesia. The factors that will determine the development process are identified using Structural Equation Modeling. From the results of the analysis, it is found that professional culture, national culture and quality management systems can increase efforts to develop a quality culture in BUMN companies. The variable of professional culture with time and team indicators, variables of national culture with indicators of individualism/collectivism and power distance, and the variable quality management system with indicators of organizational and operational context has a significant effect on the Quality Culture Development. To be able to increase efforts to develop a quality culture in state-owned construction service companies, it is necessary to improve the professional culture, national culture, and quality management system effectively. This research can be used as material or input to improve efforts to develop a quality culture in BUMN construction companies in Indonesia in the future
Quick and concise land boundary mapping using a drone at Villa Buccu, Kerobokan, Badung, Bali
The effective measurement and mapping of the land is retrieval of accurate data according to position, in accordance with mapping provisions and efficient in both cost and time. One way that data can be retrieved effectively and efficiently is by using a drone, commonly called an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).Drone is a vehicle equipped with a wave control system, precision navigation (Global Positioning System/GPS) and flight control electronics so that it is able to fly according to flight planning (autopilot). This drone makes it possible to track the position and orientation of sensors implemented in local or global coordinate systems. With the drone itself, it saves time because it can have an image of an area. Premark / Ground Control Point (GCP) is a point that is commonly used to improve measurement accuracy in mapping using drones, in this case using the Global Positioning System (GPS) Geodetic / RTK Hi Target tool. Mapping Using Drones was then used by many people, including for the purposes of villa spatial planning, so to support this activity a land boundary mapping was carried out at Villa Buccu, Kerobokan, Badung Bali.
The effect of health education on the level of knowledge and attitude of mothers about COVID-19 prevention at posyandu of mpunda public health center of Bima City
Background of Study: Transmission of COVID-19 is made through close contact and saliva splashes/droplets, instead of air transmission. Baby is one of the most vulnerable subjects to any kind of disease due to their body's immune is still likely weak or imperfect. Providing insights on the importance of maintaining health and the danger of COVID-19 virus is necessary to conduct through some informal educational platforms to the society. Method: the research method used in the present study was quasi-experiment with pre-test and post-test with a control group design. The sampling technique used was random sampling. In this study, a bivariate test was conducted to find out the effect and difference in the level of knowledge and attitude of both the control group and experimental group. The present study, further, used the statistical test of Mann Witney and Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test
Basic understanding of water flooding as a secondary recovery concept: Literature review
The need for energy and mineral resources is needed for the survival of human life. One of the results of minerals contained in the bowels of the earth is crude oil. Natural resources crude oil is still a top priority for natural resource needs in Indonesia. So it is necessary to explore and exploit crude oil resources. Secondary recovery (water flooding) and tertiary recovery methods are carried out on an oil and gas well to assist the process of producing oil to the surface. Water flooding is a method that is widely used because water is easy to obtain, water supply is quite cheap and mobility is low. Water injection is a second stage recovery method by injecting water into the reservoir so that the remaining oil can be pushed to the production well. Water flooding in its application can show a decreasing trend in production if the efficiency of this method in the reservoir has decreased, therefore after the water flooding recovery method has decreased production, the EOR method as a tertiary recovery method can be applied.
Brand image mediation of product quality and electronic word of mouth on purchase decision
The practical implication that can be given from the findings of this study is that this study can be used as a basic model to evaluate the Samsung smartphone company's strategy for product quality, eWOM, brand image, and consumer purchase decisions. Based on the results of statistical analysis, that product quality and eWOM directly or indirectly through brand image affect consumer purchase decisions. This can be a reference for Samsung company management in making strategies to improve purchase decisions by maintaining product quality, eWOM, and brand image of Samsung smartphones. This study examined the effect of service quality delivery on consumer’s choice of fast foods outlets. Cross-sectional survey research design was adopted. Primary data was collected from respondents using structured questionnaire. Simple regression in the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) was adopted to analyze the data collected. Consequently, it was found that service tangibility, reliability, responsiveness, assurance and empathy had significant effects on consumer’s choice of fast foods. Thus, it was recommended amongst others, that fast food outlets should be more responsive to consumers’ service requirements by rapidly eliciting and resolving consumers’ enquiries and complaints; consistently deliver fast, strong and reliable service; ensure their personnel treat consumers with politeness and consideration at every point of service encounter and constantly seek ways to offer freshness in order to remain relevant in the market place
