    Role of Political Instability in Attracting FDI Inflow to Pakistan

    Purpose:  The reason of this study is to recognize the impact of key determinants of overseas direct asset in case of Pakistan, based on annual information covering the period of 1981-2018. Design/Methodology/Approach: After checking for still of the sequence, the technique of ARDL is used for estimation of long run parameters estimates and error alteration instrument for short run dynamics. Findings: The results of the study indicate that politically stable environment and long term policies are necessary to attract foreign investors. furthermore, investment profile of any government also matter for direct asset in the country as the study conclusions reveal that marketplace size as well as domestic investment are positively related to foreign direct investment while taxes have negative association with overseas straight investment in the case of Pakistan. Implications/Originality/Value: The most important factor for FDI inflow to Pakistan is interest rate or ease of doing business which has negative sign means inverse relation exists between the two variables

    Legal, Administrative and Judicial Framework in Pakistan to Combat Tax Evasion and Money Laundering: An Analytical Study

    Purpose: The main objective of this research paper is to look at Pakistan's legal, administrative, and judicial framework in terms of countering money laundering and tax evasion. Money laundering and tax evasion are two financial crimes that have been linked, either directly or indirectly, to one other. Money laundering was formerly solely associated with the crimes of narcotics trafficking and terrorism financing. At present, it has been also associated with tax evasion. Methodology: The framework regarding tax evasion and money laundering is varied. In Pakistan, two different mechanisms exist to combat both crimes. This article analytically studies the parliamentary statutes and ordinance, the working of investigating and prosecuting agencies and judicature structure concerning tax evasion and money laundering in Pakistan. Findings: This article concludes that the problem of tax evasion and money launder are causing financial instability in Pakistan. There is an urgent need of revamping the current tax administration to detect tax evasion and frauds. Implication: this article recommends potential reforms in the existing legal, administrative and judicial framework to control and curb both crimes more effectively

    CSR Image and Customer Satisfaction: The Mediating Role of Customer Trust and Customer Loyalty

    Purpose: This study aims to examine the impact of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) image on customer satisfaction in the context of the banking sector of Pakistan. Further, the intervening role of customer trust and customer loyalty in the relationship between CSR image and customer satisfaction is also examined. Design/Methodology/Approach: Present research is quantitative in nature and collects the data through structured questionnaires. By employing the Smart PLS technique to test the proposed hypothesis. Findings: This study reveals the following salient findings: 1) the response of CSR image to customer satisfaction is positive (p<0.01); 2) customer trust and customer loyalty both significantly mediates the impact of CSR image on customer satisfaction. Implications/Originality/Value: Based on novel findings, the current study will help the organizations to realize the significance of CSR practices to enhance the customers’ satisfaction level

    Impact of Service Quality and Price Fairness on Consumer Loyalty: The Moderating Role of Information Literacy

    Purpose: Using data from 200 hotel guests in Multan, Pakistan, this research aims to evaluate the influence of service quality and pricing fairness on consumer loyalty while moderating the role of information literacy. Design/Methodology/Approach/Findings: The findings are estimated using partial least square (PLS). The variables service quality, pricing justice, and information literacy are all positively and substantially connected to customer loyalty, according to PLS estimations. Because the link between service quality and customer loyalty is statistically significant, the results of the moderated regression demonstrate that information literacy positively moderates it. On the other hand, while the link between price fairness and customer loyalty is statistically significant, the variable information literacy acts as a negative moderator. Implications/Originality/Value:  Hotel management are advised to invest in and increase the quality of service. Managers must maintain control of all activities related to the concept of quality from the bottom to the top of their business

    Islamic Microfinance and Women Entrepreneurship Performance during COVID-19 Pandemic

    Purpose: In the contemporary era, women are playing a vital role in changing the global economy as entrepreneurs, workers, and consumers, yet they encounter many problems and obstacles in the development of entrepreneurship. This study aim is to investigate the impact of Islamic microfinance on women entrepreneurship performance: mediating role of social capital and moderating role of opportunity for social interaction in South Punjab, Pakistan. Design/Methodology/Approach:  Data were collected from 183 women entrepreneurs, who were using Islamic microfinance, through the convenience sampling technique. Convenient sampling technique was used to collect the information. PLS-SEM was employed to statistically test the data. Findings: This study results indicate that microfinance had a negative relationship with women's entrepreneurship performance. However, when Islamic microfinance led to the formation of social capital among women that eventually caused the women entrepreneurship performance. Moreover, the extent to which microfinance provisions affected the social capital of clients was dependent upon the microfinance providers facilitated social interaction among clients. . Implications/Originality/Value: This paper will give benefit to academics in preparing a plan for future research. Moreover, findings will also assist policymakers and IMFIs to set out microfinance initiatives that will improve the betterment of clients and will maximize their enterprising results

    Long Run and Short Run Co-movement among Oil Prices and Stock Market Liquidity: Evidence from the Emerging Equity Market of Pakistan

    Abstract: The objective of this study is to examine the long run and short run relationship between oil prices and stock market liquidity in Pakistan stock exchange. Design/Methodology/Approach: The sample spans 10 years from 2010 to 2019. We use auto-regressive distributed lag (ARDL) to examine long-term and short-term relationships between oil prices, exchange rate, stock market index, market volatility and inflation and stock market liquidity. We use normality checks, serial correlation tests, heteroscedasticity tests, and CUSM models to assess model stability. Findings: Result shows that there exist a long-term negative association between exchange rate and inflation, but a positive relationship is revealed between oil prices, stock returns, and market volatility. These conclusions hold for three sectors i.e. automobile, cement and sugar. Implications/Originality/Value: This study extends the existing debate on the relationship between macroeconomic variables and stock market liquidity to the emerging equity market. For this, it uses three proxies for stock market liquidity: Amihud liquidity, average trading volume, and trading volume average

    Purpose: The motivation behind this study is to investigate how the practical implementation of cloud-based accounting/finance mechanism effects business performance with a mediating effect of innovative work behavior among the employees of banking sector. Design/Methodology: To explore the relationship between the independent, dependent and mediating variables questionnaire method is used. The main view of study is how cloud-based accounting/finance mechanism influences business performance in banks along with the impact of innovative work behavior on business performance. Data collected from 280 managerial level employees of different banks in Faisalabad division. Findings: This study indicates that cloud-based accounting/finance mechanism has a positive and significant impact on business performance. Innovative work behavior is strengthening the relationship between cloud-based accounting/finance mechanism with business performance. In the presence of innovative work behavior the impact of independent variable considered significant and in more strength. Moreover, this study recommends that firms should focus on innovative work behavior in order to increase their business performance. Research limitations/implications: The findings suggest that furthermore detailed research is required to explore the effects of cloud-based accounting/finance mechanism and innovative work behavior on business performance

    Role of Infrastructural Projects in Sustainable Development: Analysis of Local Government Services of Emerging Economies

    Purpose: The current study is carried out to examine the role of local government services in project success for sustainable development through infrastructure projects in the selected part of Pakistan Local Government services are considered essential for sustainable development in the contemporary world especially in the infrastructure sector. Emerging economies like Pakistan are struggling to improve quality of life by providing better opportunities to its masses through local government services for sustainable development. Therefore, such topic is worth essential to study. Design/Methodology/Approach: A structured questionnaire (using five points liker scale ranging 1 to 5) is used to collect data from 217 respondents who are directly engaged in infrastructure projects by using random sampling technique. SPSS is used for data analysis through selected statistical techniques. Findings: Results indicate that there is statistically significant relationship between services of local government and project success in infrastructure sector. Moreover, Local Govt. Services contribute towards sustainable socio-economic development in the economy. Implications/Originality/Value: It is suggested that policy makers and relevant authorities should improve the quality of local government services with diversity to develop infrastructure sector by executing success projects for individual and collective well-being

    Pakistan's Growth Empirics and Foreign Direct Investment: An Assessment of the Role of Domestic Financial Sector

    Purpose: This reseach endeavours to investigate the role of fiancial sector in determining the foreign direct inflows in pakistan. Design/Methodology/Approach: Autoregressive Distributed Lag Model is applied to conclude the nature of linear association among the variables, in this study, we have used time series data over the period 1980-2019 of Pakistan. A financial development index has been created to illustrate the financial development by using Principle Component Analysis (PCA). Robustness of the relation among variables is also checked, and incorporated this in the empirical model. Findings: The findings described very interesting implications, by exhibiting a positive association among FDI and economic growth in the presence of financial sector indicators. These conclusions hold notwithstanding in the presence or absence of Financial development Index. Therefore, the presence of strong financial sector is necessary to attract FDI and to smoothen the economic growth process.Implications/Originality/Value: The role of fiancial sector is indespensible in determining the economic activity. In addition to this, research at hand explore the inclusive nature of the relationships among foreign direct investment (FDI), Financial sector, and economic growth. It exhibits a reflection of the various sources of economic growth

    The Effectiveness of Early Childhood Education Program in Public Schools of Punjab

    Purpose: The present study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of the current Early Childhood Education (ECE) Program regarding the facilities provided in Public Schools of Punjab. The study was quantitative in nature. Design/Methodology/Approach: The study was quantitative in nature. Eleven districts out of fourteen districts of central Punjab were selected randomly. A self-developed checklist was deployed to collect data from public ECE schools of Punjab through a convenient sampling technique. The reliability of the checklist was measured through the pilot study with the Cronbach alpha value of 0.78.  Quantitative data were analyzed through descriptive and inferential statistical techniques. Findings: Results of this study indicated that there was a shortage of separate allocated ECE rooms, trained ECE teachers, Care-giver, ECE kits, learning corners, teacher-made toys, portfolios, and furnished playgrounds. The results of this study further revealed that on average the enrollment and retention rate of katchi in the year 2018 is higher than the enrollment and retention rate in katchi of the year 2013. Implications/Originality/Value: This study was a comprehensive report about the ECE program in Punjab which will be very useful and informative for policymakers, administration of the Quaid-Azam academy for education development, Punjab to modify the program according to the need for achieving goals as well as researchers
