    ANALYSIS AND EVALUATION OF IMPLEMENTATION OF UNDERGRADUATE NURSING CURRICULLUM FOR FAMILY NURSING IN WEST JAWA

    Nurses are the backbone of the healthcare system, being the key providers of primary healthcare as they comprise 60-80% of the total health workforce, and provide 90% of all heath care services in the primary healthcare arena.  This study aimed to evaluate the concordance  of family nursing and community health nursing curriculum with international standards and national needs for undergraduate nursing education in West Java.This study used evaluation research design using BEKA framework as a tool to perform curriculum analysis which included Benchmarking, Evidencing, Knowing, and Applying stages. The international standards competency for family nursing and community health nursing, course study guide and samples of students reports were collected and analysed using content analysis. In addition participants from six nursing schools were interviewed to identify application of the curriculums. The results show that some of the competencies outlined in the course study guide were not aligned with international standards of family nursing from International Family Nursing Association. Four dimensional framework of family nursing and community health nursing curriculums were proposed to improve the alignment between international standards as well as local and government needs for family nursing and community health nursing curriculums. School of nursing can apply this framework as guidance to develop their own learning plans based on international standards, national, local and institutional needs.     QUALITY OF NURSING DOCUMENTATION AND NURSE’S OBJECTIVE WORKLOAD BASED ON TIME AND MOTION STUDY (TMS)

    Introduction. The quality of documentation can decrease because of bad admission filling of documentation. Workload is one of the factor that can influence admission filling of documentation. This study was aimed to analyze the correlation between nurse’s objective workload and the quality of nursing documentation in RSU Haji. Method. The design of this study was descriptive correlation with cross-sectional approach. The population on this study was the nurse that works in Marwah 3 and 4 inpatient care in RSU Haji Surabaya. The number of the sample was 14 respondents were selected by simple random sampling. The independent variable was nurse’s objective workload and the dependent variable was quality of nursing documentation. The data were analyzed by using regression logistic. Result. Nurse’s objective workload in RSU Haji was 72%. There was no correlational between nurse’s objective workload with the completeness of nursing documentation (P= 0,999), also nurse’s objective workload with accurate of nursing documentation (P= 0,999). Discussion. This study concluded that nurse’s objective workload was low and quality of nursing documentation was accurate enough and complete enough. Next researcher should provide precise operational so the factors that affected the quality of documentation can be reached and the workload of the nurses in RSU Haji become ideal.Keyword:  nurses, quality of nursing documentation, objective workloa

    The Effect of Team Game Tournament (TGT) Cooperative Learning Method Application Towards Learning Motivation and Achievement

    Introduction: Learning method of Team Game Tournament (TGT) has student-centered learning characteristic focuses on students’ knowledge construction in which they could find important information useful for constructing their own knowledge. The continuous weak comprehension of neurology system anatomy and physiology resulted in the application of TGT for constructing students’ knowledge in this study. This study aimed to analyze the efficacy of TGT application for improving learning motivation and achievement in studying neurology system anatomy and physiology among nursing students. Methods: This pre-experimental study used the one group pretest post-test design approach. Target population was all nursing students in two institutions around Surabaya in the even semester of 2016/2017 academic year. Inclusion criteria were passed the course of Biomedical II or Nursing Basics I. Sample size was 143 chose by total sampling. Independent variable was TGT application and dependent variables were learning motivation and achievement. Study instruments were motivation questionnaire and objective test. Data analysis used paired t-test and Mann-Whitney test with α ≤ 0.05. Ethical clearance was issued (number: 449-KEPK). Results: Most respondents were 19 years old single female who chose nursing major because of their dream, and the majority still live with parents in their own house. Only learning motivation data that were normally distributed. TGT application could increase learning motivation and achievement of nursing students significantly (p=0.000 and p=0.028 respectively).  Conclusions: TGT application could increase learning motivation and achievement in studying neurology system anatomy and physiology among nursing students. Further implementation could be broad, other subjects in nursing could be the target in which difficult subject would be underlined.

    FACTORS ASSOCIATED WITH LOW ACHIEVEMENT IN POLIO IMMUNIZATION

    Background of the research: The Ministry of Health Republic of Indonesia has been implementing Polio Immunization (PIN) 2016 simultaneously in Indonesia since 8 to 15 March 2016. Overall, the result of implementation PIN polio at Dharmasraya regency in 2016 has reached about 93.15%. While the lowest scored was reached by Tiumang PHC 75.76%. The purpose of this research is to determine the factors associating on the low of reaching polio immunization in March 2016 at community health centers (Puskesmas) Tiumang Dharmasraya 2016. Methods: using descriptive analytic with Cross-Sectional Study research design. The number of samples is 94 people with accidental sampling technique. Where the research was conducted in Puskemas Tiumang, Dharmasraya. Data were collected using a questionnaire then processed by SPSS software. The result of the study is presented in the form of distribution frequency and chi-square test. Result: The study showed that almost half of 42 respondent were knowledgeable (44.7%), negative (45.7%), and the lowest (3.2%) in no act category. Furthermore, almost half is supported by negative family (30.9%). The result of the statistical test found that (p-value=0.093), there is no significant relationship between knowledge and polio immunization. Moreover, there is no significant relationship between attitudes toward immunization values (p-value=0.082), there is no significant relationship between the cadres roles and polio immunization (p-value=0.591). However, only family support that can reach the significant relationship toward immunization (p-values= 0.005). Discussions: it is hoped that mothers concern about their children‟s health to be kept and those who have not been motivated yet to visit with their children getting immunization polio.Key Word: Knowledge, Behavior, Achieviement, Poli

    Background: International policy recommends Interprofesional Education (IPE) to improve the practice of interprofessional In an effort to improve the practice of professional nurses, the IPE is the strategy of forming professional conduct of nurses in team work and collaboration between other health professionals, especially doctors in critical care. Objective: to identify the effect of IPE model of team work and collaboration of the attitudes of nursing students in an intensive care unit of Hospital. Methods: This study was conducted with The quasi-experimental design. The number of 30 subjects (15 intervention and 15 control group) by random sampling. The intervention consisted of 1) pretest 2) the provision of material interprofessional education modules on subjects of critical nursing for 2 weeks, 2) posttest. Paired t tests were used to determine the effects of interprofessional Education. Independence t-test were used to determine the difference effect of interprofessional Education. The instrument used was The Attitudes towards interprofessional Health Care Teams Scales to measure the attitude of teamwork and Interprofesional Collaboration Scales to measure the attitude of collaboration. Results: There were differences rates of team work and collaboration attitudes of nurses before and after on intervention group. There werenot differences rates of team work and collaboration attitudes of nurses before and after on control group. There were differences scores of the attitude of team work and collaboration between the intervention and control groups. Conclusions and Recommendations: Giving IPE modules for nurses are commonly regarded to be an essential strategy for improving team work and collaboration attitudes on nurses student at intensive care unit of hospital.     THE APPLICATION OF TRANSCULTURAL NURSING MODEL IN PERSPECTIVE OF MADURA CULTURE IMPROVING BREASTFEEDING MOTHER’S BEHAVIOR IN JEMBER

    Background and objective : Breastfeeding is one of the development tasks for women after childbirth. Many factors can affect mother’s success in breastfeeding exclusively, such as family support as well as local cultural influences. This research aims to apply the transcultural nursing model in Madura cultural perspective in breastfeeding mothers.Method: This research was conducted in Public Health Centre of Pakusari Suboh Jember. The data were collected using questionnaires, and focus group discuss. The research design was question-experimental research of post test design with control by using Paired Samples Test analysis. In addition, the researchers also performed a qualitative analysis to explore the Maduranese culture. The samples were breastfeeding mothers who had infants aged 1-6 months and 50 samples were then divided into two, i.e., treatment and control groups. Also, another data source were health professionals.Result: The result showed that the maternal age range between 15-34 years with an average age of 27 years. Besides, the average of the respondents’ education background was that 60% of them did not pass elementary school, both in treatment group and control group. The results of the analysis on cultural modifications was p-value of 0.001, which means that there is the effects of applying transcultural nursing model in improving milk production.Conclusion and recomendation : An application of cultural modifications that is able to increase milk production. Therefore, it needs a good cooperation for all the components of society in supporting breastfeeding mothers by modifying less the local culture that becomes  favorable for health. 

    FLIPPED CLASSROOM LEARNING METHOD TO IMPROVE CARING AND LEARNING OUTCOME IN FIRST YEAR NURSING STUDENT

    Background and Purpose: Caring is the essence of nursing profession. Stimulation of caring attitude should start early. Effective teaching methods needed to foster caring attitude and improve learning achievement. This study aimed to explain the effect of applying flipped classroom learning method for improving caring attitude and learning achievement of new student nurses at nursing institutions in Surabaya. Method: This is a pre-experimental study using the one group pretest posttest and posttest only design. Population was all new student nurses on nursing institutions in Surabaya. Inclusion criteria: female, 18-21 years old, majoring in nursing on their own volition and being first choice during students selection process, status were active in the even semester of 2015/2016 academic year. Sample size was 67 selected by total sampling. Variables: 1) independent: application of flipped classroom learning method; 2) dependent: caring attitude, learning achievement. Instruments: teaching plan, assignment descriptions, presence list, assignment assessment rubrics, study materials, questionnaires of caring attitude. Data analysis: paired and one sample t test. Ethical clearance was available. Results: Most respondents were 20 years old (44.8%), graduated from high school in Surabaya (38.8%), living with parents (68.7%) in their homes (64.2%). All data were normally distributed. Flipped classroom learning method could improve caring attitude by 4.13%. Flipped classroom learning method was proved to be effective for improving caring attitude (p=0.021) and learning achievement (p=0.000). Conclusion and Recommendation: Flipped classroom was effective for improving caring attitude and learning achievement of new student nurse. It is recommended to use mix-method and larger sample for further study

    The Correlation Between the Waitress's Attitude to HIV/AIDS and Their Anxiety Related to Contracting HIV/AIDS

    Introduction: Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is a virus that attacks the human immune system and weakens the body’s ability to resist disease. People thus become susceptible to various infections. This study aims to investigate the correlation between the waitress’s attitude to HIV/AIDS and their anxiety focused on contracting HIV/AIDS in Dahlia and Sahara Bar and Karaoke. Methods: This research was non-experimental, and utilized a cross-sectional approach. Collecting the data used the researcher’s understanding of HIV/AIDS test and consisted of 20 items. The study used the Zung Self Rating Anxiety Scale comprised of 20 elements. The subjects of this study was 30 people. The subjects of this study were women who worked in nightclubs as waitresses in two bars and karaoke in 2017. Results: Data was analyzed using the Spearman’s rho test. The results showed that the correlation coefficient = -0.761 with p= 0.000 (p<0.05). This means that H0 rejected and Ha accepted. Conclusions: Based on the data analysis, it can be concluded that there is a correlation between the waitress’s Attitude to HIV/AIDS and their anxiety over the potential risk of contracting HIV/AIDS in Dahlia and Sahara Bar and Karaoke. Based on the results of the study, it is suggested that information about HIV/AIDS should be provided through health education and HIV prevention resources

    ASSERTIVENESS TRAINING CAN INCREASE NURSING STUDENT CONFIDENCE

    Background and purpose : Students to have the confidence to face these challenges. One of the efforts to boost confidence is with assertiveness training. This therapy is done in five sessions with the method of describing, modeling, role play, feedback, and transferring. This study aims to determine the influence of assertiveness training in increasing Nursing student confidence of Nursing Health Science in Muhammadiyah University of Purwokerto.Methods : This study uses quasi experiments method with pretest-posttest design with control group with statistical tests namely Dependent (Paired) and test Independent Samples T test. Sampling technique uses Cluster Random Sampling. Samples in this study were 41 students of S-1 nursing as the intervention group and the other 41 students as control group.Results : The results of the study showed a significant different increase statistically confidence of the students in the intervention group and control group after the intervention group is given assertiveness training ( = 0,000).Conclusion and recomendation : The conclusion of this research is assertiveness training can increase students confidence. The results of the study can be input for health workers, especially nurses to improve the ability to provide nursing actions, as a counselor, and as an educator

    The Experience of Sexual Needs Fulfilment for People Who Life With HIV/AIDS Partners

    Introduction: People with HIV/AIDS infected partners does not mean they should stop their sexual activities. Sexual needs fulfilment required commitment and support from their partners consider that the need of the willingness to gained the intimacy. The aim of the research to describing the people experienced in the sexual fulfilment with HIV/AIDS partners. Methods: This research applied descriptive phenomenology qualitative as the method, with in-depth interviews of 8 people with HIV/AIDS partners at Spirit Paramacitta Foundation, Denpasar. Results: Through the thematic analysis with the Colaizzi procedure, found 4 themes that illustrate the experience of fulfilling the sexual needs. The themes are: (1) The Declining of Sexual Relations Quantity and Quality as the Impact of The Changes of Partners Positive HIV Status, (2) Internal Conflicts Emerging in Responding to Sexual Assault, (3) Form of Sexual Activities Adaptation as the Impact of The Changes of Partners Positive HIV Status, (4) The Efforts to Increasing Sexual Quality. Conclusions: The role of the counselor in providing information related to safe sexual relationships is a solution that can overcome the fears and doubts of serodiscordant couples for sexual intercourse
