Application of “Six Rights” on Medication Administration by Nurse and Patient Satisfaction
Introduction: Giving the medications, nurse should pay attention to the principles of “six of rights", namely: right of patient, right medication, right dose, right way, right time, and right documentation. There are more than a half of nurses in a ward who are not provide medications in accordance with the Standard Operational Procedure (SOP). The purpose of this study was to determine of the relationship between applications of Standard Operational Procedure (SOP) six rights of medication administration by nurses and patient satisfaction. Methods: This study was using cross sectional design.There were 30 respondents taken by accidental sampling. This research was conducted in February 2017. Data collection used questionnaires and observation. Chi-Square test was used to analyze data. It can be known from 30 respondents who had six right in application of medication administration was performed good (50%) then respondents were satisfied (50%). Results: The results showed the significant relationship between the six rights of medication administration by nurse and the level of patient satisfaction (p = 0.003).Conclusion: It can be inferred that the higher interaction that occurs between nurse and patient in applying the principles of medication administration, it will higher patient satisfaction. Nurses suggested applying the six rights during medication administration
Continuing Formal Education for Nurses in Ghana: The Perception of Non-Professional Nurses
Introduction:Continuing education is essential to the growth of the nursing profession due to the dynamic environment of the health industry. The study sought to explore the perceptions of non – professional nurses regarding continuing education. Methods:The qualitative descriptive design was employed and the purposive sampling technique used to recruit twenty - three non – professional nurses from Pantang Hospital in the Greater Accra Region. Thematic content analysis was used in analyzing the data. Results:The finding of the study showed that non – professional nurses have positive perceptions about continuing education. They believe that engaging in continuing education would improve their care giving skills in order to provide quality care to their clients. Conclusions: The study recommends that non-professional nurses with basic qualifications in the nursing profession should be encouraged to pursue continuing education
FAMILY’S LIFE EXPERIENCE IN TAKING CARE CHILDREN WITH HIV/AIDS IN CIMAHI CITY
Introduction. Indonesia has increase in cases of HIV/AIDS significantly. HIV/AIDS incidence in children is increase too. Children with HIV infection are vulnerable to physical and psychosocial problems are complex. This raises the issue of the family in caring for children with HIV/AIDS. The purpose of this study was to explore in depth the experiences of family life in the care of children with HIV/AIDS. Methods. The study used a qualitative approach was phenomenological. This research was conducted during the months of July-August 2012 in Cimahi. The study was conducted on families who have children with HIV/AIDS. Method of data collection study using in-depth interviews. Analysis of the data used to describe the lived experience of families in caring for children with HIV/AIDS with Colaizi data analysis. Results. Children with HIV/AIDS had experience a variety of problems related to the infection opportunity, growth and development disability, education, social skills and acceptance in society. Discussion. Nurse can give information about caring children with HIV/AIDS, give the support to family to get VCT program, ARV supervision, motivation enhancement, child health, children need to learn and play, support family to join with PMTCT program to increase quality of life of the children and family. THE INCREASE IN COLOSTRUM SECRETION ON EARLY SKIN-TO-SKIN CONTACT ON POSTPARTUM MOTHER
Introduction. Colostrum contains a large number of protective factors providing passive and active protection to a wide variety of known pathogens. Its production could be stimulated by early skin-to-skin contact between mother and baby. Hence, this study aimed to investigate the effect of early skin-to-skin contact on the onset of colostrum secretion in postpartum mother. Methods. This study was cross sectional. The data were analyzed by Mann–Whitney test. Literate postpartum mothers, underwent pervaginam delivery in >37 weeks of gestational age with clear amniotic fluid, having baby with > 2500 gr of weight, Apgar score 6 – 8, and no congenital defects were included in this study. The onset of colostrum secretion was measured through observation sheet. 26 samples were recruited in this study. Results. The onset of colostrum secretion was faster in mother underwent early skin-to-skin contact (p=0.002). Discussion. Thus, this study suggested that early skin-to-skin contact enhanced the onset of colostrum secretion. Keywords: Early skin-to-skin contact, Colostrum, Postpartu
SERVICE QUALITY OF NURSE IN THE SCOPE OF NATIONAL HEALTH INSURANCE IN BATU CITY
Introduction. The Program of Indonesian Government in 2014 is to apply health insurance based program which known as National Health Insurance (NHI). The concept of this program is all of Indonesian will have health insurance based on Gotong Royong principal. The concept of health provider will be totally changes in health provider, referral system and financing. This study aimed to known the phenomena of nursing quality assurance under NHI which held in the first and the second grade of health provider in Batu, East Java. Method. Qualitative study with in depth interview was used to explore the phenomena. 18 participants were participating in this study taken based on the inclusion criteria were taken by purposive sampling. There were five theme which were nurse responsiveness, assurance of health provider, tangible, empathy and reliability. Result. The satisfaction of patients receive care in Batu BPJS still not achieved optimally. Discussion. It is suggests for the next researcher to explore the factors which barrier the nurse to give the optimal serveto national health insurance patient.Keywords: Service Quality, Nursing, NH
FAMILY FRIENDLY FOR IMPROVEMENT OF USING EXCLUSIVE BREAST WITH INTEGRATION FAMILY CENTER NURSING MODEL AND TRANSCULTURAL NURSING MODEL AT JEMBER DISTRICT, EAST JAVA PROVIENCE
Introduction. The phenomenon of lactation in nursing mothers breastfed exclusively fulfillment requires comprehensive treatment in the community related to the population at risk in the group of breast feeding mothers in the community. The purpose of this study was to improve the ability of nursing mothers, families, and communities in family friendly activities through the integration of family center model of cross-cultural nursing and nursing to meet the sustainability of exclusive breastfeeding in the group of nursing mothers who were sensitive and sensitive to local culture in Jember. Method. This study used a quasi- experimental design with a nonrandomized control group design with pretest and posttest. The data were analyzed using frequency distributions and the Wilcoxon signed rank test were used to compare the behavior of lactating mothers, family independence, the ability of health workers, and management of exclusive breastfeeding services are culturally sensitive and locally sensitive to the treatment group and the control group. Results. The results showed no significant difference between the behavior of lactating mothers, family independence, and management services exclusive breastfeeding before san after the intervention program (p value 0.000) and no significant difference between the ability of health workers before and after the intervention (p value 0.001). Discussion. Exclusive breast feeding can run continuously if the full support of breastfeeding mothers own motivation, family support, health worker visits, and the clinic. OVERCOME CONSTIPATION OF STROKE NON HAEMORRHAGIC PATIENT BY APPLYING RANGE OF MOTION (ROM) AND ABDOMEN WARM COMPRESS

The patients cannot activate as usual and will have defecation disorder, wecall it constipation. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of ROM exercise and abdomen warm compress to overcome constipation in patient with non-hemorrhage stroke. Method. Quasi experiment design without control group was used in this study. All stroke non hemorrhage patients in Putri Hijau hospital Medanwere the respondents in this study. Data analysis used t-test (α=0,05). Result. The result showed that most defecation frequency of patients who got ROMwas twice in a week (50%), and patients who got warm compress most had 3 times defecations (50%). Time defecation of patients who got ROM most two times (56,3%), and for patientswho got warm compress was also two times (81,3%). There was difference of feces consistency (p=0,004; α=0,05); defecation frequency (p=0,000; α=0,05), and time defecation (p=0,007;α=0,05) to respondents who got ROM and warm compress. Discussion. This study result could be used asevident based practice in delivering nursing care to patients who had constipation so thatcomplementary therapy could be applied as prevention and cure.Key Words: Stroke, ROM, warm compress, constipatio
MOTHER’S FIRST EXPERIENCE IN ASSISTING CHILDREN WITH ACUTE LYMPHOBLASTIC LEUKEMIA WHO IS UNDERGOING CHEMOTHERAPY
Introduction. Acute Limfoblastic Leukemia (ALL) is a malignant disease which mostly found in children. The main treatment of ALL is chemotherapy for a long time, so it affects their mother life as the primary caretaker. This research aimed to explore, understand, and give the meaning of mother’s fi rst experience in assisting children with ALL that was undergoing chemotherapy: the induction phase. Method. This research was a qualitative research by using phenomenological. Six participants were taken by using purposive sampling that participated in interview. In-depthinterviews and fi eld note were used to collect data. The result of the interview was transcribed verbatimly and analyzed by Collaizi method. Results. There was six main themes that found in this research including:1) undergoing emotional response, 2) undergoing physical impaired, 3) seeking information, 4) undergoing a spiritual experience, 5) undergoingan economic burden, and 6) the importance of support. Discussion. It suggests that nurses provided nursing care to mother that assisting the children in chemotherapy at the fi rst time like giving intervention concerned emotional problem, physical, and spiritual. THE VARK LEARNING STYLE OF NURSING AND MIDWIFERY STUDENTS
Introduction. VARK is very important to facilitate the development of nursing and midwifery students, helping translate theory into practice, and making what is learned in the classroom a reality. It is important to assess the learning style ofstudents to cater for differing learning needs. The aim of the study were: 1) to identify learning style nursing and midwifery students, and 2) the differences of learning style between nursing and midwifery students. Method. A descriptive crosssectional study was performed by using VARK questionnaire version 7.8. A total of 241 students including 125 nursing and 116 midwifery students were participated in this study that selected using stratifi ed random sampling techniques. Data analysis used Chi square test and One Way ANOVA (α=0.05). Result. The study showed that 61.7% and 67.8% nursing and midwifery students in the fi rst year; 70.8% and 63.3% in the second-year were used multimodal learning preferences, respectively. There was no signifi cantly differences learning preferences between the fi rst and the second-year as well as between nursing and midwifery students (p>0.05). Discussion. The nursing and midwifery students have varies on the learning preferences however the majority of the students used multimodal. Therefore, an active learning method was recommended. Effect of Social Media Addiction on Anxiety and The Risk of Social Health Disaster in Adolescents
Introduction: Adolescents who get social media addiction, dopamine discharges occur in their bodies that create anxious feelings that can cause problems in social behavior in schools, living quarters, and peer social environments, and even trigger criminal acts such as defamation, slander, kidnapping, and fraud. The purpose of this research was to analyze the relationship between social media addiction and anxiety and the risk of social health disasters in adolescents. Methods: This research method is quantitative analytic descriptive with a cross-sectional design. The population in this study were 385 students in one of the junior high schools in the Yogyakarta area of Indonesia. Data retrieval technique in this research uses Stratified Random Sampling technique. Data on social media addiction, anxiety and the risk of social health disaster were analyzed by Spearman Rank Test, a numerical correlation statistical test, with SPSS 21. Results: The results showed that the mean value of the age variable was 13.91, social media addiction was 60.38, anxiety was 14.46, and the risk of social health disaster was 67.97. The results of the statistical hypothesis test obtained that there was no significant relationship between social media addiction, anxiety, and social health disaster risk variables in adolescents. Conclusion: The conclusion of this research obtained that social media access can cause negative and positive impacts. Anxiety and the risk of social health disasters events are thought to be influenced by external factors
