    THE EFFECT OF FAMILY PSYCHOEDUCATION THERAPY FOR THE FAMILY ABILITY IN TAKING CARE PATIENTS WITH SCHIZOPHRENIA

    Introduction. Schizophrenia is the major cause of dissability in the most productive ages. It affects economic and social family condition so that the family ability needs increasing in taking care of patients with schizophrenia at home to decrease family’s burden. The family ability to take care of family member can be trained by family psychoeducation therapy. The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of family psychoeducation therapy for the family ability in taking care patients with schizophrenia. Method. The research design used quasy experiment method with pre post test without control group design by using family psychoeducation therapy intervention. The research was conducted in Aceh government mental hospital with 18 samples. Intervention was implemented through five sessions of family psychoeducation to indentify the difference the family ability in taking care of patients with schizofrenia before and after the intervention. Result. The result of statistics test which used Wilcoxon’s matched pairs test showed there is no differences significant ability between pre and post intervention (p>0,05) although there is increase the number of respondents which have better psychomotor and cognitive ability after the intervention. Discussion. Assessment psychomotor ability would be better if it is supported by the observation process psychomotor training in directly care by providing the knowledge and practice of structured and consistent with family psychoeducation module. Keywords: schizophrenia, psychomotor, cognitive, psychoeducatio

    BEST PARENTING-PARENTS TO DIET AND FOOD-CONSUMPTION ON TODDLERS

    Introduction. There are 103 toddlers in West Lombok suffering from severe malnutrition throughout 2013. This regency is ranked as the second place out of ten districts/cities in NTB having severely malnourished. It is due to the fact that illness and parenting-parents have yet been considered. The purpose of this study was to analyze relationship parenting-parent with diet and toddlers food consumption.Method. This study used analytical observation research with Cross-sectional design. The population were the entire households having children at Banyu Urip village with the samples, eighty-one toddlers, were taken through random sampling technique. Its data was analyzed by using Spearman Rank. Result. The finding shows; 1) parenting-parents, most authoritarian, is 47 (58%); 2) diet toddler, good category, is 58 (71.6%); 3) food-consumption on toddlers, deficit category, is 27 (33.3%); 4) no relationship among the parenting-parents, diet (p= 0.095) and toddler food consumption (p = 0.17). Discussion. Thus, it can be inferred that an authoritarian-parenting is the best parenting to diet and food-consumption for toddler-malnutrition.Key words: Parenting, Diet, Food-consumption, Toddle

    PSYCHOPOETRY THERAPY MODEL TOWARDS ENHANCING COGNITIVE'S INSIGHT CLIENTS ON MENTAL DISORDERS IN PSYCHIATRIC HOSPITAL

    Introduction. Cognitive's insight is an important aspect in determining the diagnosis and treatment programs to clients with mental disorders. Psychopoetry therapy as an intervention modality based on the reading and writing of poetry those are expressive of the feelings of the client. Purpose of this study was to determine the effect of therapy models psychopoetry to measure themselves in the improvement of cognitive (self-assurance component) on the client's mental disorder. Benefits psychopoetry therapy as a means of expressing feeling depressed clients and are thought to contribute to the problem at hand. Method. The research method was used quasi-experimental research design with non-randomized pretest-posttest control group. Result. The results of this research were significant changes in the intervention group before and after treatment, and when compared with the control group (p < 0.05). Discussion. Psychopoetry therapy model can be used in addition to other therapeutic nursing interventions that have been implemented. This model is able to optimize the ability to build the structure of phrase in communication and recommended the development of writing skills productively.     SELF-CARE AGENCY TO ELDERLY WITH RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS BASED ON THEORY OF DOROTHEA E. OREM

    Introduction. Elderly who experience rheumatoid arthritis, if elderly with rheumatoid arthritis is not treated immediately, they will lead self-care defi cit. The objective was to describe self-care agency to elderly with rheumatoid arthritis based on theory of Dorothea E Orem. Methods. The research design was descriptive. Population was all elderly with rheumatoid arthritis at Kelurahan Bangsal Kota Kediri. The subjects were 55 respondents using purposive sampling. The variable was self-care agency. Data collecting used questionnaires of Denyes Self-Care Agency-90, then analyzed used statistical test of frequency distribution. Result. Results of self-care agency to elderly with rheumatoid arthritis was good (56.4%) consisted of ego strength aspect, was good (56.4%), aspect of health value was good (56.4%), aspect of health knowledge and decision making was good (61.8%), energy aspect was poor (50, 9%), feeling aspect was poor (58.2%), attention to health aspect was good (50.9%). Discussion.     Introduction: Problem Based Learning tutorial is one of students centered learning method. PSIK UMY applied assessment of student's performance in tutorial process. Tutor gave feedback to the students in every meeting of tutorial in order to make the students performance improved. Based on the evaluation result, there was no significant improvement of student's performance in tutorial because of feedback only given by the tutor so that students have minimal motivation to improve their performance. The purpose of this study was to know the effect of self assessment and peer-assessment to students' performance in tutorial process in PSIK UMY. Methods: This research is quasi experiment with pre and post test design. The number of respondents is 213 students from all of the year that is taken by proportional stratified random sampling. Data processed by univariat analysis and Wilcoxon test. Result: There is a significant difference between students' performance in the first meeting and the second meeting of tutorial.     ROLE OF WET CUPPING TREATMENT TOWARD ACTIVITY DAILY LIVING (ADL) OF MIGRAINE PATIENT AT SEMARANG

    Introduction. Migraine is often disturbing Activity Daily Living (ADL) due to the throbbing pain, accompanied by nausea, no appetite, sensitivity to light, sounds and smells. The purpose of this study was determined differences in patient’s ADL before, after one week, two weeks, and three weeks after being intervented by wet cupping method. Methods. This research used pre and post test quasi-experimental design. Numbers of sample were 30 male patients, choosed by consecutive sampling technique. Wet cupping treatment was given 1 time only. ADL was measured with a checklist Headache Impact Test-6 (HIT-6) before treatment, one week, two weeks, and three weeks after treatment. Analysis of data was done in two steps: the frequency of distribution and multivariate repeated ANOVA test in normal distribution and Friedman test in unnormal distribution (p = 0.000) then followed post test with the Wilcoxon test. Results. Post test with the Wilcoxon in migraine patients was done before cupping, one week, two weeks and three weeks after wet cupping. Results showed p value 0,000 for all groups. Discussion. ADL before cupping differ by one week, two weeks and three weeks after cupping with p value 0.000(α <0.005).  Keywords: Cupping, Activity Daily Living (ADL), Migraine

    ALBUMIN AND HEMOGLOBIN VALUE IN CHRONIC RENAL FAILURE (CRF) PATIENTS WITH DIABETES AND NON-DIABETES

    Introduction. Malnutrition is a common problem in patients with chronic renal failure (CRF) with Diabetes Mellitus and Non-Diabetes Mellitus. Assessments of nutritional status in CRF patients are required to measure some important parameters including serum albumin and hemoglobin. This study aimed to fi gure out the differences of nutritional status between CRF patients with diabetes mellitus and without diabetes mellitus in the inpatient unit of PKU Muhammadiyah Hospital Yogyakarta, by examining the levels of albumin and hemoglobin serum. Methods. This study applied cross sectional method of which measuring instruments were patients’ medical records of laboratory tests. This research used accidental sampling method involving 30 patients as samples. Result. The results of independent t-test showed that there was no signifi cant differences between the levels of albumin (p = 0.917) and hemoglobin (p = 0.168) between the group of non DM CRF patients and CRF patients with  M. Discussion.     COPING STRATEGY AND CHILDREN CHARACTERISTIC TO PARENTAL ACCEPTANCE IN PARENTS OF CHILDREN WITH LEUKEMIA USING TRANSACTIONAL THEORY APPROACH

    Introduction. Leukemia is a kind of cancer that most occur in children 33% of the total number of childhood cancer. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of coping strategy and children characteristic to parental acceptance in parents of children with leukemia.Method. Design used in this study was cross-sectional. Population in this study was parents (mothers) of children with leukemia in Dr. Soetomo Hospitals Surabaya, with consecutive sampling technique. Total sample was 23 mothers. Coping strategy measurement was done using questionnaire modification from Lazarus & Folkman Appraisal stress and coping strategy in Transactional Theory, parental acceptance was measured using questionnaire. Data that obtained then was processed and analyzed using spearman and pearson correlation, alternative hypothesis would be accepted if p<0,05.Result. The results of this study showed that the relationship between coping strategy with parental acceptance was significant (p = 0.000). For the relationship between children characteristics with parental acceptance, variable of phase of treatment, illness classification and duration of illness showed a significant result (p = 0.000), whereas variables of children age and children sequences showed insignificant results with parental acceptance.Discussion.     Introduction. Aging is a natural process in humans is accompanied by a decrease in the physical, psychological and social which interact with each other is known as the elderly. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the Elderly Posyandu using Abraham Maslow hierarchy of the class system of the elderly independence. Method. The design of this study was quasy experiment with post-test only with control group design. Data collection was performed using the independence of elderly people who modifi ed checklist sheet of cards to health (KMS) elderly and then test hypothesis test using independent t test with signifi cance level 0.05. Results. Statistical analysis showed the independence of the elderly for the treatment group obtained a mean value of 75.4615 and 60.8462 of the control group. Normality test as a condition of the t test showed the two groups has a normal distribution so as to know the difference between the independence of elderly people treated group and the control group were tested using independent t test with p value = 0.001 results < α (0.05). There was a difference in elderly independence between the treatment and control groups. Discussion. Need for innovative program to improve the independence of the elderly through the integration of health services through Posyandu modifi ed by taking into account the biological, psychological, social, and spiritual based class Maslow hierarchy. Keywords: Elderly, Posyandu, independence, Maslo

    THE ROLE OF COMMUNITY NURSE REGARDING CASE DETECTION OF TUBERCULOSIS IN PUBLICE HEALTH CENTER IN BANJARBARU MUNICIPALITY SOUTH BORNEO

    Introduction. Tuberculosis is one of the primary communicable diseases in community health problem. Indonesia ranked in 5th position of WHO report in 2009 TB incidence. TB management had already been organized comprehensively regarding case finding and DOTS strategy. Community nurse worked in Public Health Center play an important role in TB management particularly case finding.The aim of this study was to identify community nurse role in case detection of TB in community setting and explore the Active Case finding (ACF) and Extensive Case Finding (ECF) perspective in TB patient detection. Methods. This research used qualitative descriptive study design with in-depth interview. Eight nurses who already worked with TB in Public Health Center in Banjarbaru Municipality South Borneo selected as sample. Study conducted in May – June 2012. Data were analyzed by Miles and Huberman model. Results. The result showed the role of community nurses in the detection passive case finding was waiting for the patient; ACF through home visits and ECF through health education. Nurses in community health centers Banjarbaru City area had been played their role in TB case detection, whether active, passive and extensive. Discussion. They need the full support or participation from government particularly Health Department of related municipality to perform active and extensive case-finding strategies.
