Praksisnære profesjonssamtaler med studenter i barnehagelærerutdanningen
Get PDFThis article describes and analyses the characteristics of career dialogues with first-year students in an early childhood education institution in Norway. The goal of these dialogues is to contribute to the students\u27 professional development. The methodological approach of the study is action research based on focus-group interviews with students and teachers. The data material shows that teachers are adaptive, supportive and affirmative. However, they do not challenge the students by asking critical questions. This indicates some challenges, but also opportunities that lie in the institutions’ career dialogues, which may enhance the students’ professional development. Our findings are discussed in the light of theories on professionalism, communication and guidance.Artikkelen retter søkelyset mot hvilke kjennetegn som preger de formelle profesjonsinnrettede profesjonssamtalene med førsteårsstudenter i en barnehagelærerutdanning i Norge. Målet med samtalene er å bidra til barnehagelærerstudentenes profesjonsinnretting. Metodisk hviler studien på aksjonsforskning, men det er datamateriale fra fokusgruppesamtaler med barnehagelærerstudenter og pedagogikklærere som danner grunnlaget for denne artikkelen. Analysen viser at samtalene er preget av nærhet og støtte, spor av utfordringer og ønske om bekreftelser. Dette indikerer noen utfordringer, men også noen muligheter, som kan ligge i profesjonssamtalen med tanke på å fremme studentenes profesjonsinnretting. Funnene drøftes i lys av profesjons, - kommunikasjons, - og veiledningsteori. 
The significance of history in exploring a contemporary health care professional issue
No full textThe purpose of this article is to illustrate how historical fieldwork can make a significant contribution to exploring a contemporary health professional issue.
The article is based on my Ph.D. thesis: "It is not our patient - a cultural-theoretical and cultural-historical analysis of the importance of the organization of the hospital system for the hospitalization of old medical patients using Holbæk Hospital as an example", which among other things includes historical fieldwork to explore the current health care professional challenge.
The article briefly presents the Ph.D. project\u27s research question, theory, method and analysis, as a background for subsequently exploring how historical fieldwork has been tackled, as well as examples of how historical exploration has made a valuable and significant contribution. Finally, there is a summary of the key points of the article.Denne artikels formål er at udfolde, hvordan historisk feltarbejde kan bidrage betydningsfuldt til udforskning af en nutidig sundhedsfaglig problemstilling.
Artiklen tager afsæt i min ph.d.-afhandling: ”Det er ikke vores patient - en kulturteoretisk og kulturhistorisk analyse af betydningen af sygehusvæsenets indretning for gamle medicinske patienters indlæggelsesforløb med Holbæk Sygehus som eksempel”, hvor der bl.a. indgår et historisk feltarbejde til at udforske den nutidige sundhedsfaglige problemstilling.
I artiklen præsenteres kort ph.d.-projektets forskningsspørgsmål, teori, metode og analyse, som baggrund for efterfølgende at udfolde hvordan det historiske feltarbejde blev grebet an, samt eksempler på hvordan den historiske udforskning har bidraget værdi- og betydningsfuldt. Afslutningsvis opsummeres artiklens centrale pointer.
 
Finding Our Voices, Singing Our Truths: Examining How Quality of Life Domains Manifested in a Singing Group for Autistic Adults
No full textA growing body of literature indicates that participation in singing groups has a range of health and wellbeing benefits for the general adult population and for various adult cohorts with specific challenges/needs. However, no research had been conducted on potential benefits of group singing for Autistic adults. Furthermore, the neurodiversity movement rejects a biomedical approach to autism and champions the need for supports that will empower individuals on the autism spectrum to participate in society on their own terms. This aligns well with community music therapy (CoMT) philosophy which maintains that all persons have a right to access and participate in music experiences that promote personal health and wellbeing as well as serve as an expression of individuality, culture, and community. Therefore, the present research investigated how quality of life (QoL) variables (considered as components/determinants of health and wellbeing) manifested for eight Autistic adults who participated in 12 group singing sessions. A mixed methods concurrent transformative design was used with priority given to qualitative data. Results illustrate how subdomains contained within overarching QoL domains of Being, Belonging, and Becoming were realized by the group participants. Un crescente corpus di letteratura indica che la partecipazione a gruppi di canto presenta una serie di benefici per la salute e il benessere della popolazione adulta generale, nonché di vari gruppi di adulti con specifiche esigenze e sfide. Tuttavia, sui potenziali benefici del canto di gruppo per adulti autistici non sono ancora state condotte ricerche. Inoltre, il movimento per la neurodiversità rifiuta un approccio biomedico all\u27autismo, sostenendo invece la necessità di supporti che consentano agli individui con spettro autistico di essere socialmente partecipi alle proprie condizioni. Ciò è in linea con la filosofia della Community Music Therapy (CoMT), secondo la quale tutte le persone hanno il diritto di accedere e partecipare ad esperienze musicali che promuovano salute e benessere personale, oltre a servire come espressione di individualità, cultura e comunità. Pertanto, la presente ricerca ha studiato come le variabili della Qualità della Vita (QoL), considerate componenti determinanti di salute e benessere, si manifestino per otto adulti autistici che hanno partecipato a 12 sessioni di canto di gruppo. In questo è stata usata una progettazione trasformativa concorrente con metodi misti, dando priorità ai dati qualitativi. I risultati illustrano come i sottodomini contenuti nei globali domini QoL di Essere, Appartenenza e Divenire, siano stati realizzati dai partecipanti al gruppo. Vengono inoltre presentati i limiti dello studio e le implicazioni per la pratica e la ricerca.

Nordplus Project: Networking, new skills and co-creation in Nordic Higher Education

Nordplus (NP) is the Nordic Council of Ministers\u27 most important programme in the area of lifelong learning (http://www.nordplusonline.org/) and provides funding for activities and networking projects across the Nordic and Baltic region. This development project has applied for and received funding from the NP2016 and NP2017 programmes – and have applied again in 2018 – Lund University Libraries, University of Bergen Library, and The Royal Library Aarhus University Library.
The aim of this project has been to meet and establish partnership with faculty and students as co-creators in the emerging blended learning environments. One important way of doing this has been (NP2016) to develop subject specific digital learning objects, supporting academic skills and students’ digital practice. The project group has leant on the method ABC (Arena Blended Connected) curriculum design, introduced to us by researchers from pedagogical departments at the universities.
The NP2017 part of the project is focusing on the implementation and evaluation of the new practice. Regarding evaluation, the project is again leaning on research expertise at the universities, having been introduced to “Argumentativa kursusutvärderingsmodeller” (Carola Aili, Lund University), qualitative research design and mixed methods (Rune Krumsvik, University of Bergen).
In addition comes a very important issue; the intercultural aspect of sharing experience and knowledge within the three Nordic organisations of Higher Education.
A special sessionFirst we will present and discuss not only the products, but also the work processes and various methods used in the projects as well as the benefits of the intercultural Nordic collaboration. The format will we short presentations (pitches and posters) – and discussion.
Secondly, the NP18 application includes a plan for extending the existing project network to several Nordic educational settings. Therefore, the project group invites Nordic conference colleagues, who would like to discuss an extended Nordic network, to join this session. The format for this part will be network dating and discussion in an open space framework
Selective feeding on jellyfish organs by Northern Fulmars Fulmarus glacialis
Get PDFSeveral marine animals prey extensively on jellyfish in spite of the low energy contents of this type of prey. Northern Fulmars Fulmarus glacialis observed in the Barents Sea feeding on medusae of lion’s mane jellies Cyanea capillata fed from the underside of the jellyfish, eagerly ingesting gonadal tissue as well as oral arms and tentacles, while the gelatinous tissue of the umbrella apparently was neglected by the birds. Gonads, arms and tentacles have about five times higher energetic contents than the tissue of the bell, approaching that of some species of fish. Aggressive defence of their prey and a continued feeding on jellyfish in the presence of discarded fish offal indicated jellyfish to be more than a second choice food for Northern Fulmars. The observations clearly showed that the Fulmars did not primarily feed on organisms associated with jellyfish. Their abundance and slow swimming make jellyfish an easily available prey. Scyphozoan cnidarians may be more important to pelagic seabirds than generally thought
Winter distribution of Steller\u27s Eiders in the Varangerfjord, northern Norway
Get PDFArctic warming and decreasing sea-ice cover along the Siberian coast in the Arctic Ocean leads to greater accessibility for operations such as oil drilling and traffic of tankers. This implies increasing risks for Steller’s Eider Polysticta stelleri wintering, moulting and staging along the coasts of the Varanger Peninsula, Norway. Steller’s Eiders were surveyed by monthly counts during winter and early spring 2016/2017 to investigate numbers and distribution throughout the winter. The highest number of wintering Steller’s Eiders was found in January, representing ~7 % of the European population. In February–April numbers were lower, but at a rather stable level. We found relatively little variation in distribution between months, although the birds were more evenly distributed along the coast later in winter. Mean flock size was significantly larger in January than in March and April. Feeding behaviour was exclusively observed in shallow water, generally at depths of up to 6 m. Get PDFStudier har vist en sammenheng mellom å tygge tyggegummi og forbedret hukommelse, men funn så langt har vært uklare. Det var derfor ønsket å undersøke om tyggegummi har en positiv effekt på korttidshukommelse eller ikke. 62 deltagere ble delt inn i tre grupper; en kontrollgruppe uten påvirkningen av tyggegummi, en gruppe som tygget tyggegummi i fem minutter før testen, og en gruppe som tygde tyggegummi under hele testen. Alle gjennomførte en visuell hukommelsestest. Det gjennomførte forsøket ga ingen signifikante forskjeller mellom de ulike gruppene, men resultatene impliserer at tyggegummi kan ha en positiv effekt på korttidshukommelsen, men mer omfattende studier må gjennomføres for å kunne si det med sikkerhet

Estudio dialectológico perceptual de las Antillas hispánicas
No full textIn this paper I analyzed the Spanish - speaking Caribbean´s dialectal perceptions (Cubans, Puerto Ricans and Dominicans), in order to know the mental delimitation of the linguistic area to which their varieties are circumscribed, the elements through which they distinguish it and the way in which they perceived themselves linguistically in the Spanish-speaking context in general. The analysis has been based on the postulates of Perceptual Dialectology. From the methodological point of view, a questionnaire was applied in the capitals of the three countries in which four questions addressed the linguistic perceptions. The sample was formed from a fixed quota sampling, for a total of 198 informants surveyed in the three countries, of which the variables sex, age and level of education were controlled.
Some of the most important concluding ideas of the study are that the Antillean perceive their varieties of Spanish as inserted in a common dialectal space, although with variable limits. In a triangle of relationships, Puerto Ricans and Cubans perceive their respective varieties of Spanish as much closer and more like each other than to the Spanish in the Dominican Republic. Dominicans, on the other hand, show a weaker awareness of the link between the three varieties. As for the differentiating perceptions, is evident a perceptual distance from other variants (such as the Spanish, Colombian, Mexican and Argentine), based on arguments that show the prestige granted to these modalities of language
