Theorising sexual harassment and criminalisation in a Swedish context
This article offers a theoretical approach to criminalisation in relation to sexual harassment, using Sweden as example. The topic is spurred by two separate but interrelated phenomena. The first is the #metoo movement, which raised not only awareness of the widespread problem of sexual harassment, but also questions as to whether criminal law can provide a proper response. The second is a growing concern, both in international research and among Swedish activists, that the feminist struggle against sexual violence is turning towards punitive measures. Taking the standpoint that feminist research and activism should engage in a critical conversation with criminal law and crime policy, this article employs Kelly’s concept of the continuum of sexual violence to analyse the scope for criminal law interventions regarding men’s intimate intrusions against women. Swedish criminal regulation is used to highlight some of the challenges of designing a criminal provision that considers the individual effects as well as the cumulative and collective impacts of sexual harassment
“It\u27s a strange thought to have the students to myself”: Supervision in Teams in Practical Training in Teacher Education
Supervision in practicum in teacher education is a task that is often taken care of by the individual supervisor, and previous research shows large variations in quality of supervision, follow-up and learning outcomes for the students. The present study deals with the establishment of supervising teams at a school where most teachers are certified supervisors. The term supervisory team refers to the fact that several practice teachers take joint responsibility for the tasks related to the same student group. The study highlights how students and practice teachers experience this organization, and how both groups link their experiences to learning and development. The study is socioculturally anchored with data based on interviews with three supervisor teams and their student groups throughout one period of practicum. The findings indicate an incipitary collective tutoring practice built on an existing collaborative culture, supported by choreographed learning meetings as a structuring resource
From interactivity to intra-activity in performing arts for children
This essay will give an introduction to dilemmas and experiences of making interactive theatre for children based on findings from the SceSam Project. This artistic research project bridged artistic practice and theoretical perspectives on interactive dramaturgies in the context of cultural politics, interdisciplinary, and participatory art. Further developments in our critical times of mass extinction and climate change, have turned our interest away from the focus on human interactions towards the intra-actions of more-than-human agents of performing arts for children; space, environments, nature and material entanglements. The Animalium project will serve as example of how this might look like within theatre for the very young.
Authors quote from the conference presentation: «Theatre connects deeply with how we relate to one another as human beings, both as artists and audiences, how we are able to imagine new human and non-human worlds together, and how entanglements and sympoiesis create a community of differences in the theatre space."This essay will give an introduction to dilemmas and experiences of making interactive theatre for children based on findings from the SceSam Project. Workforce Characteristics, Workplace and Job Satisfaction, Stress, Burnout, and Happiness of Music Therapists in the United States
Obwohl das durchschnittliche Vollzeitgehalt der Musiktherapeut*innen bei 51.099,69 51,099.69, salaries varied widely, with newly credentialed music therapists and those with less than six years of experience reporting lower average salaries. Variations in salaries, stress, burnout, and happiness were also evident across workplaces. Implications for the profession, including advocacy efforts, support for early-career professionals, and additional support for career development, invite further discussion
Pragmaticalised determiners in American Norwegian
This paper discusses the determiners slik and sånn ‘such (a), like this/that’ in American Norwegian (AmNo), and the extent to which pragmaticalised uses of these determiners, carrying information about the speaker’s attitudes and speaker-hearer relations, can be found. It is shown that pragmaticalised determiners are used, but that their distribution differs in some respects from that in the homeland variety; notably, in AmNo, the lexical variant slik is more common than sånn. It is also shown that although pragmaticalised determiners are robustly attested (at least one subtype, described as a hedging marker), they are overall less frequent than in the homeland. However, the conditions on use of these markers are generally similar in both varieties
Sonotoki
This film takes inspiration from the work of Kon Wajiro,- an architect, ethnologist and sociologist who created detailed sketches of everyday life on the streets of Tokyo in the 1920s. Shot in Aomori City, Japan in the depths of winter, Sonotoki captures fleeting movements through the snowy streets as they play out before a static camera. Humans are made of generations of cycles; each leaving subtle indications that are part of an inexpressible whole
