Hvordan antallet blader påvirker skyvekraften til en propell
Get PDFDenne artikkelen utforsker hvordan antallet blader på en propell påvirker skyvekraften som skapes. Propellene ble festet til en elektrisk motor i enden på armen på en dumpeliknende konstruksjon som hadde en kraftmåler i andre enden. De tre propellene hadde tre, fire og seks blader, men var ellers like med samme radius og angrepsvinkel. Propellene ble testet hver for seg i maksfart i 12 sekunder av gangen der det ble gjort målinger med en frekvens på 1Hz. Det var en signifikant forskjell mellom propellen med tre blader og propellen med fire blader, med en P-verdi lik , og mellom propellen med tre blader og propellen med seks blader som var . Derimot var ikke forskjellen signifikant mellom propellen med seks blader og propellen med fire blader, som hadde en P-verdi lik . Ristingen fra motoren påvirket resultatene i stor grad
C-vitaminers beskyttende effekt mot oksidativt stress i bakterier
Get PDFOksidativt stress er samspillet mellom reaktive oksygenforbindelser og antioksidanter. For høyt nivå av oksidativt stress kan føre til oksidativ skade på cellene i kroppen vår. C-vitaminer er antioksidanter som er med på å bryte ned hydrogenperoksid, som er en reaktiv oksygenforbindelse. I vårt forsøk utforsker vi C-vitaminers beskyttende effekt mot hydrogenperoksid. Vi gjør dette ved å tilsette hydrogenperoksid og ulike konsentrasjoner av C-vitaminer til E.coli bakterier. Resultatene ble funnet ved å telle antall overlevende bakteriekolonier på agar plater. Bakterier som var inkubert med C-vitamin har en statistisk signifikant høyere overlevelse enn bakteriene uten. Høyere konsentrasjon av C-vitamin førte til høyere overlevelse opp til et visst punkt. Våre funn bekrefter at C-vitamin har en beskyttende effekt mot oksidativ skade i bakerier. Videre forsking kan være å se på effekten i eukaryote celler slik at resultantene kan bli mer anvendt til menneskekroppen
The invisible victim in criminal policy
Get PDFThe ideology behind the Finnish criminal policy is described as humane and rational. In line with this policy, efforts are made to reduce the use of the criminal justice system to solve societal problems. One of the internationally celebrated landmarks of this policy is the success in keeping the imprisonment rate at a low level.
In this article we argue, that while this policy has been sensitive towards the needs of the offenders, it has failed to recognize the needs of victims, especially the vulnerabilities related to the victimisation of violence and sexual violence. International critical analyses on the appraisal of the victim rights have raised fears among the criminal policy planners in Finland and prevented analytical discussion. Furthermore, the reluctance to involve the victim perspective in the criminal political discussions is based on mistaken ideas of what the victims really want. In the article, we will consider how to strengthen the position of the victim without making the criminal policy more punitive in general.

Technology as ‘time saver’ and the ‘saviour’ of older adult care: Analysing doxical representations in Norwegian healthcare policies
Get PDFIn this paper we analyse the political articulation and understanding of ‘technology-supported care’ for older adults in central Norwegian public policy documents. In these documents, technology is increasingly presented both as a time saver and a lifesaver for the welfare state. Drawing on data from document analysis of official green and white papers from the period 1973-2018, the paper describes and seeks answers to how healthcare policies have evolved towards representing a strong ‘techno-optimism’. The primary objective is to analyse how such an optimism has come about and to understand the underlying assumptions and ideologies supporting it.
Epistemologically, the paper leans on the French sociologist Pierre Bourdieu’s theories on policy and practice, and on how current social practices can be analysed historically. Our analysis identifies ‘historical breaks’ regarding how technologies are positioned throughout the last five decades and reveal battles between orthodox and heterodox stances towards technology in care. As such, we discuss the temporal aspects of representations of technology in policies, as well as problematic aspects of what we see at the current or prevalent doxa: a strong belief in technology in care as time- and cost-saving.This paper analyses the political articulation and understanding of ‘technology-supported care’ for older adults in central Norwegian public policy documents. Experiences of Transcendence in Guided Imagery & Music (GIM) – An Intersubjective Perspective
No full textIn this paper, the author describes a perspective on experiences of transcendence in GIM through an integrative description of a clinical case study of GIM transcripts and a PhD study. The article summarizes results from both and develops a reflecting discussion in relation to the author’s continued post-doctoral clinical and teaching experiences. The developed perspective focuses on the process in GIM when experiences of transcendence occur and juxtaposes that to the contents of such experiences. This is argued for in terms of an intersubjective, interactive perspective on how the process among therapist, music, and client moves and deepens
Un-Labelling the Language: Exploring Labels, Jargon and Power through Participatory Arts Research with Arts Therapists and People with Learning Disabilities
No full textPeople with learning disabilities are often excluded from society. This is changing; however, discrimination persists. Language is one way in which people can be excluded. In healthcare and research, the use of labels and jargon can be a barrier to inclusion. A group of artist-researchers from the UK, some with learning disabilities and some without, wanted to explore power and language in the lives of people with learning disabilities. The group included social change activists The Lawnmowers Independent Theatre Company - who identify as having learning disabilities, and arts therapist researchers working in the National Health Service (NHS). Using arts-based participatory action research methods, we held two co-produced workshops. The first, explore power, jargon and labels for people with learning disabilities and the second, with the arts therapists only, deepened our understanding of exclusion. We used a range of arts-based approaches including improvised performance and music, reflective art making and poetry writing. This article describes the process of working together and how the arts helped us to connect and explore challenging issues. We discuss the different ways labels impact who we are and the power they have to include or exclude people with learning disabilities from healthcare and research. Our participatory approach supported multifaceted knowledge to emerge, which both empowered participants and laid foundations for an ongoing social change partnership. We share our recommendations to make research and healthcare more accessible for people with learning disabilities
«Stao no pao» eller «stå no på»? Ao-lyden hjå to ungdomskull i Sogndal
No full textTalemålsopptak med to ungdomsskulekull frå Sogndal, eitt i 2001 og eitt i 2016 med i alt 72 elevar, vert med 15 års mellomrom samanlikna med omsyn til realisering av den språklege variabelen /aʊ/ eller /ↄ/ i substantiv, verb og adjektiv. Også bakgrunnsvariablane kjønn, foreldrebakgrunn, klassetrinn og kva del av bygda informantane kjem frå, vert undersøkte for materialet samla. Resultata viser at alle desse bakgrunnsvariablane kan fungera som forklaringskrefter for korleis realiseringa av denne variabelen er fordelt blant informantane, og korleis dei vel å prata. Det å ha minst éin, men helst to foreldre frå Sogndal, ser ut til å vera eit viktig fellestrekk for dei som diftongerer. Å ha foreldre frå staden kan likevel ikkje predikera at dei nyttar denne varianten. Det vert i artikkelen argumentert for at dei unge heller gjer språklege val ut frå korleis dei vel å identifisera seg sjølve språkleg. Dette vert også stadfesta gjennom informantutsegner
Didrik rir igjen: Trykt og digital utgivelse av Þiðriks saga af Bern
No full textÞiðriks saga af Bern er den lengste av de norrøne sagaene, og flere skrivere, norske så vel som islandske, har bidratt til teksten slik vi nå kjenner den. Verket er bevart i ett pergamenthåndskrift fra middelalderen, i tre yngre papirhåndskrifter og i en svensk, forkortet versjon. Pergamenthåndskriftet har vært hovedhåndskrift for alle tidligere utgaver av teksten, men det inneholder i dag en rekke lakuner med tilhørende teksttap. Henrik Bertelsen valgte i sin utgave (1905–1911) å fylle lakunene med tekst fra de yngre papirhåndskriftene for dermed å gjenskape verket. Hans utgave er nå overført fra et trykt til et digitalt format og utgitt i Medieval Nordic Text Archive (menota.org). I artikkelen blir det reflektert over hva som er vunnet og tapt i denne prosessen, og forfatterne gir sitt svar på et avgjørende utgiverspørsmål: Skal man forsøke å gjenskape verket eller akseptere teksttapet og åpne det opp for studier i dets nåværende form?
