Society in Thao (Taiwan) Seen from Human Relation Words in the Thao Language
Get PDFThao is the language of the native Thao people residing in Taiwan's central region and belongs to the Austronesianfamily of languages. In 2001 the Thao people were officially recognized by the Taiwanese government as the `tenthaborigine' in Taiwan. Their traditional language is one of the `languages on the verge of extinction (endangeredlanguages)'with extremely few speakers. In addition, the influence of marital relations with Bunun has led the Thaolanguage to adopt many loan words from the Bunu language. This paper is concerned with the linguistic relationships and mutual recognition between families, relatives, andothers in the Thao society.A strict name ranking is used to classify members of Thao society by age. Elders are highly respected, and thefeeling of respecting an ancestor is particularly strong. However, this is maintained without creating a hierarchicalconsciousness. Although there is a work assignment by gender, there is no sex discrimination. Thao society places specialemphasis on the happiness of all Thao people; it is a society based on mutual cooperation and shared lifestyle withoutthe constraints of hierarchical order.departmental bulletin pape

A Study of "sugu(ni)" and "moosugu", the Adverb of the Temporal Relation in Connection with Starting Time
Get PDFThe aim of this paper is to show the new approach of descriptive research of the adverb of the temporalrelation, through consideration of sugu(ni) and moosugu from a viewpoint of co-occur with the grammaticalelement which appears in the semantic class of a sentence. First, it is examined which grammatical elementthat appears in the semantic class (modality of a general situation, an individual situation, and modality ofjudgment, modality of utterance) of a Japanese sentence may co-occur with sugu(ni) and moosugu. As a result,in the semantic class of a sentence, it became clear that sugu(ni) and moosugu showed grammatically differentbehavior. The adverb of the temporal relation has been considered conventionally from the viewpoint of length attime. Although it is a mere part of the adverbs of the temporal relation, by adding the consideration from aviewpoint of the difference in the grammatical behavior in the semantic class of a sentence, I consider whethermore detailed description was completed.departmental bulletin pape

Get PDF僧院生の生活は厳しい規則に従っている。この規則は共同体の存在に調和と安定感を与えている。規則は生活の複雑性を減らし、個人の精神的な追求のへの機会を用意している。僧院の規則は宗教の教義と倫理学を反映している。規則は料理の作り方まで拡大した。 この論文は黄檗宗の祝祭料理、普茶料理に於けるシンボリズムとその中国の遺産について述べている。長崎では普茶料理のお陰で黄檗寺と一般の中国人のつながりが良くなった。料理を食べながら一般人は教えの象徴を感じた。料理を作る僧は他の修行ができなくても材料を見ながら黄檗の教えについて考えさせられるようになった。料理を食する人に普茶料理は中国への尊敬の気持ちを伝え、長崎のお寺を支援した人に対し感謝の気持を伝えた。 普茶料理に於ける異国の雰囲気は日本の国内では反対の声も集まったが、その料理のエキゾチシズムは逆に多くの人々の注目を集め、黄檗宗にとって良い事であった。departmental bulletin pape
