日本語の話し言葉と書き言葉における無生名詞が主語に立つ 他動詞文の使用率の比較について
In Japanese, there is a sentence goes like "A typhoon hit the United States." In this paper, transitive verb sentences in which such inanimate nouns stand as the subject are called ISTS (Inanimate Subject Transitive Sentences). The aim of this study is to determine whether stylistic differences affect the use of ISTS. To achieve this, a quantitative corpus analysis investigates the prevalence of ISTS in spoken and written languages. The analysis results indicate that stylistic differences affect the use of ISTS.departmental bulletin pape

長崎居留地におけるアメリカ人歯科医の巡回診療
This paper attempts to clarify the history of traveling dentists in the former Nagasaki Foreign Settlement. Using English-language newspapers published in Nagasaki as a primary historical source, this paper identifies 12 dentists who provided traveling dental care in Nagasaki and analyzes the activities of several representative American dentists. The investigation revealed that all the dentists, both Japanese and American, whose names were identified, were utilizing American dental technology.
Among them, American dentist Dr. Harold Slade (1860-1908), with his advanced medical skills in dental anesthesia, conducted 17 tours of practice in the Nagasaki Foreign Settlement over a total of nine years, setting up his clinic in a Western-style hotel. According to Slade’s obituary, it is possible that he came to Japan as a medical missionary. The impact of his dental technology on Japanese dentists in Nagasaki is unknown, but there is no doubt that his practice brought great relief and won the appreciation of residents of the Nagasaki Foreign Settlement.departmental bulletin pape
青年期における過剰適応傾向とひきこもり傾向の規定要因と その対応
The purpose of this study was to investigate the determinants and treatment of the affinity for over-adaptation and the tendency toward hikikomori during adolescence. 7 scales (Over-adaptation, Hikikomori, Inventory of interpersonal problems, Internal working model, FACES, Locus of control, Excessive parental expectations) were administered to 606 senior high school students and undergraduate students. The main results were as follows. (a) The affinity for over-adaptation and the tendency toward hikikomori indicated a peculiar conflict during adolescence. (b) The affinity for over-adaptation was influenced by excessive parental expectations and the interpersonal problems (male’s self-imperfection and female’s porcupine dilemma). (c) The tendency toward hikikomori depended on the mother-child relationship in early childhood and narcissistic personality. These results suggested the concrete treatment for over-adaptation and hikikomori.departmental bulletin pape
読み手を意識した文章を書く表現技術の授業 -壁新聞作成活動の実践報告-
After the COVID-19 pandemic, we conducted a wall newspaper creation activity in Japanese language classes for undergraduate international students to encourage them to write sentences that are conscious of the reader. This paper is a report on this activity. Undergraduate international students are usually accustomed to writing objective sentences such as those found in reports and research papers, and initially felt very confused about writing sentences to convey something to others from their own heart. However, in the process of creating the wall newspaper, they began to realize the joy of collaborating with classmates, feeling a sense of responsibility for their work, and exploring their own thoughts.departmental bulletin pape
