Enhancing Digital Literacy and Religious Moderation through an E-Book on Madrasah Principal Leadership in Islamic Boarding School Culture
This study aims to assess the effectiveness of e-book development as a concrete effort to support the vision of intellectually and spiritually superior madrasah education. The method used was a quasi-experimental design with data collection techniques including interviews, observations, and questionnaires. Qualitative data were analysed descriptively, while quantitative data were analysed using paired t-tests on pretest and posttest results. The findings show that the e-book on madrasah principal leadership grounded in Islamic boarding school culture is efficacious in improving students' digital literacy. This is indicated by the t-test result (0.014 < 0.05), which shows a significant difference between pretest and posttest scores, and by an N-gain score of 2.795 (279.52%), which falls into the high and highly effective category. The e-book was found to be less effective in improving students' religious moderation. Although the t-test result (0.000 < 0.05) indicates a significant difference, the N-gain score was only 0.482 (48.2%), which is considered moderate and interpreted as less effective according to the effectiveness Table. Therefore, while the e-book has proven more effective at enhancing students' digital literacy, it still requires further development to instil values of religious moderation effectively
Improving Graduate Quality and Public Satisfaction through Internal Quality Assurance
This study analyzes the implementation of Internal Quality Assurance Standards (SPMI) in pesantren to identify its impact on graduate quality and community satisfaction. The research design used a mixed-method sequential explanatory approach. The quantitative phase involved 457 respondents and was analyzed using SmartPLS to examine the influence of SPMI on graduate quality and community satisfaction. The qualitative phase was conducted through in-depth interviews with kiai (Islamic scholars), teachers, and alums to interpret the quantitative results and explore the value-based quality practices of pesantren. The quantitative results showed that SPMI had a more substantial influence on graduate quality (β = 0.72; R² = 0.52), while the most dominant influence on community satisfaction was found in pesantren (β = 0.70; R² = 0.51). Qualitative findings confirmed these results by identifying integrative curriculum practices, spiritual-moral guidance (ta'dib), life skills development, and the social contributions of pesantren. These findings confirm that SPMI in pesantren is not merely an administrative instrument but a systemic strategy that integrates academic, spiritual, moral, and social dimensions. This study provides new insights into variations in SPMI implementation in pesantren and offers a quality assurance model that is contextual and aligned with Islamic scientific traditions
Kyai's Collective Collegial Leadership Model in Education Management
Leadership in Islamic education is facing growing challenges that require a shift from single-authority systems toward more collaborative and participatory governance. This study aims to analyze how the collective-collegial leadership model of the kyai operates in managing Islamic educational institutions. Using a qualitative case study design, data were collected through in-depth interviews, field observations, and document analysis involving kyais, administrators, and committee members. The findings reveal three major themes: distributed authority that balances moral legitimacy and administrative efficiency; collaborative governance that ensures transparency, shared responsibility, and policy sustainability; and collective leadership that institutionalizes a unified organizational vision through formal documentation. The study’s novelty lies in integrating Islamic values of (deliberation), ukhuwah (brotherhood), and amanah (trust) into a structured model of participatory leadership. The results imply that leadership development in Islamic education should emphasize ethical collaboration, institutional documentation, and inclusive decision-making to achieve long-term organizational resilience
Effectiveness of Flipped Classroom–Based Instruction for Developing Arabic Reading Skills
Reading skill (maharatul qirā’ah) is a fundamental component of Arabic language learning, yet many students experience difficulties due to limited vocabulary mastery and low reading fluency. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the “flipped classroom” model in improving Arabic reading skills among 5th-grade B students at Madrasah Diniyah Darul Muhajirin. The method employed a quasi-experimental nonequivalent control group design. The sample comprised 60 students, divided into an experimental and a control class. Data collection techniques included oral tests, pretest and posttest written assessments, questionnaires, and observations. The data analysis technique uses SPSS assistance. The results showed an increase in the experimental class's average posttest score to 85.5, compared with the pretest score of 74.8. Meanwhile, the control class did not show a significant increase. The result of the t-test (Sig. 2-tailed) is 0.000. Since the calculated t-value is greater than the critical t-value at the 1% significance level (2.392) and the 5% significance level (1.671), the null hypothesis (H₀) is rejected. The alternative hypothesis (Hₐ) is accepted. These findings suggest that the "flipped classroom" is a practical approach to enhance the quality of Arabic language instruction, particularly in the aspect of maharah qirā’ah at-tafailiyah (interactive reading skills). This study contributes empirical evidence that the flipped classroom model effectively enhances pronunciation accuracy, reading fluency, and text comprehension in Arabic reading instruction. It is recommended that educators integrate flipped learning strategies to promote active, independent, and meaningful Arabic language learning.
Improving Speaking Skills Through the Use of YouTube "Arabic Podcast" Among Graduate Students of Higher Education
Speaking skill development in Arabic learning often faces challenges related to anxiety, limited practice opportunities, and lack of exposure to authentic spoken language. This study aims to explore graduate students’ lived experiences in using YouTube Arabic Podcasts for developing maharah kalam. Employing a qualitative phenomenological approach, the study involved graduate students as participants, with data collected through in-depth interviews and classroom observations and analyzed thematically. The findings reveal that students experience YouTube Arabic Podcasts as a flexible and learner-controlled medium that supports autonomous speaking practice. Repeated exposure to authentic pronunciation and intonation reduces speaking anxiety, enhances confidence, and gradually improves fluency. Students also demonstrate a shift in speaking orientation, prioritizing meaning-making over grammatical perfection. The novelty of this study lies in its phenomenological insight into the psychological and experiential dimensions of podcast-based Arabic speaking learning. The findings imply that integrating Arabic podcasts into speaking instruction can foster a more communicative, confidence-oriented, and learner-centered approach to maharah kalam development
DECONSTRUCTING MU’ASYARAH BI AL-MA’RUF: TOWARD A GENDER-JUST FRAMEWORK OF ISLAMIC FAMILY LAW
This research offers a novel contribution to Islamic family law by deconstructing the concept of mu’asyarah bil ma’ruf as a normative foundation for addressing contemporary legal and social challenges. Departing from traditional textual interpretations, the study reconceptualizes mu’asyarah bil ma’ruf as a dynamic and inclusive ethical-legal framework grounded in justice, reciprocity, and gender equality. The scope of the research covers ethical, social, and legal dimensions of harmonious family life in Islam, with particular attention to husband–wife relations and family justice. Employing qualitative library research, this study utilizes content and critical analysis of primary Islamic legal sources, court decisions, and relevant family law policies. The findings reveal that classical normative frameworks often reflect patriarchal assumptions that constrain women’s rights and fail to respond adequately to contemporary social dynamics, resulting in legal and social inequalities. Through a deconstructive approach, the research exposes these biases and proposes an alternative interpretation that emphasizes mutual respect, proportional rights and obligations, and substantive justice within the family. This study concludes that reinterpreting mu’asyarah bil ma’ruf is essential for developing a more just and responsive Islamic family law. Practically, the findings contribute to Islamic legal reform by providing a conceptual basis for gender-sensitive legislation, judicial interpretation, and family law policies that protect women and children while remaining firmly rooted in Islamic values
SHARIA ECONOMIC LAW ON THE GROWTH OF MICRO, SMALL, AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES (UMKM) IN THE DIGITAL ERA
The growth of MSMEs in the digital era requires strong Sharia governance, the expansion of Sharia-based fintech, and the enhancement of Islamic economic literacy to ensure that digital transformation proceeds fairly and sustainably. This study examines the relevance of Sharia Economic Law in promoting the growth of MSMEs amid rapid digital transformation. In an era where online transactions, digital payments, and fintech platforms dominate the business ecosystem, Islamic legal principles such as justice (‘adl), transparency (shafafiyyah), and the prohibition of riba and gharar are increasingly important to implement. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, this research analyzes how Sharia-based financial regulations and innovations influence MSME development. The results show that digital Sharia financing provides broader and more ethical access to funding for MSMEs. However, challenges remain, including low digital literacy, weak supervision of Sharia compliance, and a lack of regulatory synergy between national economic policies and Islamic economic principles
PERAN ISTRI SEBAGAI PENCARI NAFKAH DAN DAMPAKNYA TERHADAP KEUTUHAN RUMAH TANGGA PERSPEKTIF ISLAM
One of a husband’s primary responsibilities is to provide financial support for his family. Yet not all husbands are able to fulfill this duty adequately, leading to weakened household economies and compelling wives to contribute as breadwinners. This phenomenon is evident among the families of workers at the synthetic hair factory in Purbalingga Regency, where many wives assume the role of principal income earner to meet their household needs. This study aims to identify the factors that drive wives to become the main breadwinners, particularly within the families of factory employees in Purbalingga, examine the effects of this role on marital cohesion, and explore the Islamic perspective on wives as primary providers. Employing a qualitative case-study approach, the research reveals three key findings: (1) economic necessity, stemming from insufficient spousal income, and instances of husbands being unable to work due to illness or by mutual agreement compel wives to take on earning responsibilities; (2) while wives’ income-generating role can enhance family welfare stability, it may also reduce family quality time, create a double burden of domestic and economic duties, hinder communication effectiveness, and heighten role-imbalance conflicts; and (3) within Islamic jurisprudence, wives are permitted to seek livelihood support when their husbands’ earnings fall short, provided they observe Shariah-compliant conditions and limitations; however, any contravention of these religious guidelines renders such work impermissible
KONSEP NABAWI DALAM MEMBANGUN KEHARMONISAN RUMAH TANGGA
This study analyzes the Prophetic concept of building household harmony through family-related hadiths found in Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim. The research is motivated by Indonesia’s high divorce rate in 2023, which reached 408,347 cases, with 251,828 due to disputes and conflicts indicating a gap between Islamic ideals and actual domestic practices. This study utilises a qualitative method with a library research approach, relying on primary data in the form of the Prophet's hadiths related to family life, as well as secondary data obtained from books, journals, and scientific articles.. The findings reveal that Prophet Muhammad shallallāhu ‘alaihi wa sallam practiced values such as active participation in household duties, praising his wife, bathing together, resting on his wife’s lap, prioritizing his wife, using affectionate nicknames, traveling together, and engaging in meaningful conversations. These practices significantly contributed to achieving a family life characterized by sakinah (tranquility), mawaddah (affection), and rahmah (compassion). Thus, the hadiths in Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim offer authentic and applicable guidance for fostering harmonious Muslim families in the modern era
INNOVATION AND CHALLENGES OF BLOCKCHAIN TECHNOLOGY IN THE DIGITAL ERA : AN ANALYSIS OF ITS EFFECTIVENESS IN SHARIAH FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
The development of blockchain technology has brought significant innovation to the financial sector, including the management of Shariah-compliant finance, by enhancing transparency, security, and efficiency of financial transactions in accordance with Shariah principles. This technology utilizes distributed ledger technology (DLT) and smart contracts to ensure authenticity and fairness in transactions, thereby strengthening trust and accountability within the Shariah financial system. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of blockchain implementation in Shariah finance and identify various challenges faced in the digital era, such as immature regulations, limited digital infrastructure, and low levels of technological literacy among industry players. The research method includes a literature review of relevant journals and reports, as well as case studies of blockchain implementation in Shariah financial institutions. The findings indicate that blockchain plays a crucial role in increasing trust and transparency, but its success heavily depends on the synergy among regulators, Shariah financial institutions, and other stakeholders to overcome these obstacles. These results emphasize the importance of collaborative and innovative strategies to support the sustainable growth of the Shariah financial system in the digital age
