Logistics management in primary school is an important support for school operation, which is closely related to the quality of study, work and life of teachers and students, and has a basic guarantee role for the smooth development of education and teaching activities. Building a scientific and efficient primary school logistics management system from the perspective of home-school cooperation can not only improve the school management efficiency, but also optimize the rational distribution of educational resources. From the perspective of home-school cooperation, this paper discusses the construction path of primary school logistics management system based on overlapping influence threshold theory and synergy theory, in order to provide reference for the high-quality development of basic education

New Public Management and Efficiency in Nigeria: Evidence from Nigerian Railway Corporation, Lagos

This study examines the influence of New Public Management (NPM) reforms on the efficiency of public sector organizations in Nigeria, focusing on the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) in Lagos. NPM, characterized by market-driven principles, decentralization, performance measurement, and public-private partnerships, has been widely adopted in public sector reforms globally to enhance efficiency and service delivery. Using the NRC as a study, the research investigates how these principles have been implemented and their impact on organizational performance. The study employs a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative data from questionnaires from NRC officials and quantitative data from operational and financial reports. Key findings reveal that while NPM reforms, such as outsourcing and privatization, have led to some improvements in infrastructure, service delivery, and revenue generation, challenges such as inadequate funding, bureaucratic bottlenecks, and political interference continue to hinder their full effectiveness. The research concludes that although NPM reforms have potential to improve efficiency in public sector organizations like the NRC, their success depends on addressing systemic issues such as corruption, poor governance, and a lack of skilled personnel. Recommendations include enhancing regulatory frameworks, strengthening accountability mechanisms, and fostering a culture of performance-driven management to ensure sustainable improvements. This study contributes to the growing body of literature on public sector reforms in developing economies, offering insights for policymakers on optimizing the application of NPM principles in Nigeria

The Effect of Currency Redesign on Vote Buying in Yewa South Local Government of Ogun State

Elections in Nigeria, a democratic country, are seen as contests for control over the state’s resources, which are considered the most valuable assets in any society. Given the significant consequences, politicians will employ any means, whether legitimate or immoral, to secure public offices. The descriptive survey research design was employed in this study. The population of the study consists of eligible voters who have completed the necessary registration process with the Yewa South Local Government. The research population was used to obtain a sample of 389 respondents using the Taro Yamane formula. The findings suggest that the new currency design in Yewa South Local Government has an impact on the act of buying votes. The study findings indicate that the act of vote buying remains a substantial threat to the integrity and trustworthiness of Nigeria’s democratic system. Despite the government’s attempts to mitigate the act by implementing new electoral forms in the weeks leading up to elections, occurrences of voter manipulation and vote buying persisted, prompting politicians to seek alternate tactics in order to ensure electoral success. The study proposed several recommendations, including enhancing voter education, improving electoral institutions to combat vote buying, and intensifying election security operations to catch and report vote sellers and buyers to the appropriate authorities for legal proceedings

From “Governance” to “Non-Intervention”: An Ecological Interpretation of “Reversal is the Movement of the Dao” in Through the Arc of the Rain Forest

The current world ecological crisis is rooted in the logic of “human governance” dominated by the Western linear developmentalism, which is objectifying nature and controlling it through technological interventions. Academics believe that such logic can be traced back to Western Christian anthropocentrism, and the tragedy of Matacao rainforest development presented by Karen Yamashita in Through the Arc of the Rain Forest profoundly reveals the ecological evils of such linear thinking: the colonizers’forced transformation of the rainforest ecosystem through “progressive” initiatives such as road construction and resource extraction, which eventually led to the spread of plague and cultural collapse, is a perfect illustration of the ancient warning of “Acting rashly leads to misfortune(Chapter 16 of the Tao Te Ching)”, that human-induced changes to the natural process will ultimately result in a reversal of the consequences. Although the idea of “Deep Ecology” put forward by Arne Naess in 1973 criticized anthropocentrism, it has not yet transcended the linear logic of “human management of nature” and is unable to solve the problem at all. In the novel, the tenacious vitality of the rainforest system for self-repair,the survival wisdom of the aboriginal people of “adapting to the natural cycle and retreating at the right time,” and Kazumasa Ishimaru’s eventual choice of “returning to the nature” exactly echoes the Taoist cycle philosophy of “Reversal is the movement of the Dao (Chapter 40 of Tao Te Ching)”, which points out the fundamental way out of today’s ecological governance with the wisdom of cyclicity, transformation of opposites, and reversal to the roots. The core revelation is that ecological governance does not lie in more powerful technological interventions, but rather in the way of returning of “Attain utmost emptiness;preserve deepest stillness (Chapter 16 of Tao Te Ching)”------recognizing the subjective status of nature, respecting its ability to self-regulate, and not going against what nature has done. The way to solve the contemporary ecological crisis may lie in the reverse thought of this millennium classic

Spatial-temporal Dynamics of Urban Expansion and Land Cover Transformation in Uyo Capital City, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria

This study examined the spatial-temporal dynamics of urban expansion in Uyo Capital City, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. Landsat satellite imageries from 1986, 2005, and 2024 with 30-meter resolution were analyzed using supervised and unsupervised classification techniques in ERDAS Imagine 10.5. The research employed Remote Sensing and GIS-based spatial analysis to assess land use and land cover (LULC) transformations, urban growth patterns, and environmental impacts. The results revealed notable LULC transitions during the study period. Forest cover declined from 31.05% in 1986 to 16.43% in 2024, while built-up areas expanded from 23.44% to 44.80%, signifying rapid urbanization and infrastructure development. Agricultural land increased slightly by 2005 but later decreased to 22.83% in 2024, indicating urban encroachment. Water bodies steadily declined, highlighting potential hydrological stress. Between 1986 and 2024, forest and farmland decreased by 4,923.6 and 1,525.4 hectares respectively, while built-up areas increased by 7,192.74 hectares. Urban growth showed a concentric pattern outward from Ibom Plaza, influenced largely by road infrastructure. NDVI analysis showed vegetation degradation, especially between 2005 and 2024, attributed to economic changes. Population and economic growth were identified as the primary drivers of urban expansion, followed by infrastructure, housing demand, and policy influences. Farmland loss and land use transformation emerged as the most critical consequence, along with livelihood disruption, environmental degradation, and economic impact. Projections using the MOLLUSC model in QGIS indicate a 79% rise in built-up areas by 2050. The study recommends sustainable urban planning, land use regulation, reforestation, and predictive modeling to mitigate ecological damage and enhance urban resilience in Uyo

Corruption-Drug Trafficking-Terrorism Nexus: Understanding West African Security-Development Quandary Beyond European Inferiority Propaganda

This study examines the West African security-development quandary and raises a poser as to whether this quandary is a practical validation of the European colonial propaganda and theoretical conception of Africans as inferior people. For epistemic answers, the study identifies corruption-drug trafficking-terrorism nexus as more reasonable explanation of human security and sustainable development predicament in postcolonial West Africa. Arising from a thorough interrogation of the trends, nuances and shapes of this nexus, the study concludes that the European conception of Africans as inferior is untrue and baseless as Africans have always been fully human with capacity for effective social organisation and robust governance. However, the most ingenious solution to the problems of insecurity and underdevelopment in West Africa is to frontally break the nexus by functionally and structurally addressing the problems of corruption and drug trafficking as a means to ultimately reduce the spate of terrorism in the sub-region

Media Converged Dictionary in Foreign Language Teaching: Evolution, Multi-modal Database Construction and Contextualized & Explicit Instruction

Assisting instruction is the core purpose of dictionary compilation. The emergence of convergent dictionaries offers a new path for innovation in foreign language teaching. This article systematically examines the four-stage development of dictionary-assisted language teaching, deeply analyzing the structural characteristics, teaching functions, and user management mechanisms of multimodal dictionary databases. It focuses on the practical model of multimodal literacy instruction based on dictionary databases and reveals the threshold effect and optimization strategies in multimodal instruction. Research shows that convergent dictionaries, through multimodal integration, transcend the limitations of traditional dictionaries. Their databases can be deeply integrated into the entire teaching process (before, during, and after class). Multimodal literacy instruction, based on contextualized practice and explicit guidance, can effectively enhance learners' language proficiency and cultural literacy. At the same time, multimodal instruction must adhere to the principle of “less but better,”balancing information input and cognitive load, and maximizing teaching efficiency through personalized adaptation
