    Chinese Students’ Video Showing Experience During COVID-19 in 2020

    When teaching shifted to online during the 2020 spring semester, Chinese students and instructors relied on online learning platforms and social communication tools to cope with the situation. Many of the apps offered real-time video interaction, however participants often did not show themselves on video. A lower percentage of video showing was incongruous with the massive use of video conferencing apps. This paper tries to find out Chinese students’ video-showing behavior and understand their reason to show and not show themselves through a survey and a reflection. Personal, technical unpreparedness and lower engagement in the at-home environment were the major hinderance for not showing video and the instructor’s request was the major reason for showing video. This paper provides novice understanding on Chinese students’ video showing behavior, as well as suggestions for creating more engaged online learning environment

    The thought of Wei Yuan has a lot in common with that of Xunzi. First of all, Wei Yuan and Xunzi both care more about modern times instead of ancient times. Secondly, these two philosophers focus a lot on practical administration and value utility, which is considered to be utilitarian. Thirdly, Wei Yuan usually uses exegesis of The Book of Odes as a vehicle for political commentary just as Xunzi does. The similarity results from similar social background of the late Qing and Warring state periods; the revival of the Modern-text School which in 19th century served as the most important camp for the tradition of focusing on practical administration developed by Xunzi, as well as the popularity of study of Xunzi in the Qing Dynasty. However, with his mind deeply rooted in the cultural tradition of China, Wei Yuan failed to step further into modernity

Similar arguments by Alter and Smith are going to be discussed as well. Next Brubaker’s theory of the distinction will be employed to demonstrate that Kohn’s theory might be a distinction for an analytical purpose.     Application of Buckingham Theorem in the Prediction of Sand Production Rate for Unconsolidated Sandstone Reservoirs Bounded by Active Water Aquifer

    Sand production has been the prime challenge daring the hydrocarbon industry due to its unacceptable influences on oil recovery factor, surface and subsurface production facilities especially in the Niger Delta where the landscape is festooned with unconsolidated sand face. The production of sand reduces the oil recovery volume resulting to deficit economic withdrawal due to shutdown periods for remedial works and replacement cost of damaged equipment. So much exertion has been made on forecasting the sand face breakdown and/or sand production rate, most of these prediction models typified high reliance on geo-mechanistic approach which is hinged on rock mechanism alone. This paper therefore homogenized the rock, reservoir and production data such as compressive strength pressure drawdown, water cut, and production rate, confining pressure, viscosity and sand grain size to develop a simplistic predictive model for sand production rate by applying Buckingham Theorem. The model through its development proved that the collapse of formation sand face does not necessarily translate to sand production but the onset of water-cut triggers sand production. The model was explicit on sand grain size affect on sand production, it nullified the argument expressed in some researches that sand grain size affects sand production; it also showed that viscosity of the fluid is not influential on sand production rate. The model was validated using a real reservoir data from one of the wells in the Niger Delta.

    Pengzhou 5-4D Drilling Fluid Technology

    Pengzhou 5-4D well is a three-spud directional well deployed by Southwest Oil and Gas company in yadehe structure, Longmenshan Piedmont structural belt, West Sichuan depression, Sichuan Basin. The designed vertical depth is 7545m, the designed maximum well deviation is 89.59°, the actual completed drilling depth is 7150m, and the completed drilling deviation is 91.58°. The strata encountered by the well are Penglaizhen formation, Suining formation, Shaximiao formation, Qianfoya formation, Xujiahe formation, Xiaotangzi formation, Maantang formation and Leikoupo formation. Potassium polysulfonate drilling fluid is used for the first and second spuds of the well, and oil-based drilling fluid is used for the third spud. During the second spud in, Ma’antang formation collapsed and fell seriously, making tripping difficult. After sidetracking, by adjusting the treatment idea of drilling fluid, making rational use of pre hydrated bentonite slurry, using asphalt with different softening points and nano plugging materials, the problem of collapse and falling blocks was well solved, and the operations such as tripping, electrical logging and casing running were safe and smooth. The white oil-based drilling fluid system is used in the third spud in a pioneering manner, and the construction is smooth without downhole complexity, which provides valuable experience for the construction of marine formation drilling fluid in Pengzhou block in the next step.Pengzhou 5-4D well is a three-spud directional well deployed by Southwest Oil and Gas company in yadehe structure, Longmenshan Piedmont structural belt, West Sichuan depression, Sichuan Basin.     The notion of calligraphy and painting, as an integral aspect of aesthetic education, has significant practical implications for the cultivation of aesthetic education. The purpose of this study is to demonstrate how Chinese institutions of higher learning have reformed the calligraphy and painting theory teaching systems in order to foster the growth of aesthetic education in the modern period. Specifically, aesthetic education is directed by literary and artistic ideas, as well as socialist basic values, with the goal of satisfying people’s aesthetic requirements. The method of examining the development status and existing flaws in calligraphy and painting theory instruction has been investigated in order to determine how to reform aesthetic education instruction in worldwide institutions of higher learning. Diverse teaching objects contribute to the construction of the teaching system by repositioning curriculum objectives, improving instructional content and methods, perfecting evaluation mechanisms, rationally transforming instructional theory, and establishing the public’s cultural self-confidence and consciousness
