Research on the Translation and Dissemination of Anyuan Red Culture From the Perspective of Multimodal Corpus

Red culture is an advanced culture with Chinese characteristics created jointly by the CPC, advanced elements and the people in the revolutionary war years, which contains rich revolutionary spirit and profound historical and cultural connotation. The important role of red culture in enhancing China’s cultural influence cannot be ignored. Red Anyuan is a banner of the Chinese workers’ movement. Strengthening the translation and dissemination of Anyuan’s red culture comprehensively not only enables the inheritance and development of red culture, but also plays a crucial role in further enhancing China’s cultural soft power. Establishing a multimodal corpus is the foundation for the translation and dissemination of Anyuan’s red culture, and it is also a prerequisite for cultural dissemination. However, from the perspective of multimodal corpus, the translation and dissemination of Anyuan’s red culture still face some problems, mainly manifested in limited translation discourse resources, low digitalization level of translation resources, lack of effective expansion of communication channels, and uneven quality of communication content. The translation and dissemination of Anyuan red culture from the perspective of multimodal corpora can be achieved by building a multimodal parallel corpus of Anyuan red culture, constructing a video-based discourse system of Anyuan red culture corpus, and constructing an intelligent translation platform under Anyuan red culture corpus. Comprehensively strengthening the external dissemination of Anyuan’s red culture must keep pace with the times, integrate communication content based on telling the Chinese story well, fully utilize integrated media carriers to expand communication channels, and actively innovate communication methods to enhance communication efficiency

Macao, one of the 9+2 cities in the GBA, has led the development of China’s southeast coastal cities since the reform and opening up in 1978 and witnessed the growth of the GBA. t is bestowed with basic knowledge of the region, as well as historical and practical advantages, and therefore can play a key role in the construction of the GBA. Macao should ake its role, seize the opportunity, exploit its strengths and avoid its weaknesses. Besides, it is supposed to leverage its geographical advantages to become an irreplaceable hub for the exchanges between the GBA and the ASEAN and Portuguese-speaking countries. By taking advantage of its Portuguese heritage, Macao aims to build a training base for bilingual talents n Chinese and Portuguese. Precisely speaking, based on training centers for Chinese and Portuguese senior talents in business law, Macao is to establish business law consulting service centers, notary offices, and arbitration centers, benefiting from its systematic and legal advantages. These agents form an industrial chain featuring business law training, which will meet the need for legal services in business and trade in the GBA and related countries. Macao should implement the Precision Contact action guiding, give full play to the advantage of Precision Contact, act as qualified Precision Contact, and complete the mission of Precision Contact. Governance in Public Universities: An Upper Echelon Theory Approach
Get PDFPublic governance uses leadership, strategy, and control mechanisms, so good governance practices are necessary for university management. Thus, the heterogeneity of characteristics would aggregate broader sets of knowledge. Our objective is to identify how the diversity of the attributes of top management team influences the quality of governance in Brazilian public universities. We use the ordinary least squares method for the regression of panel data. We collected the identification of the management team on the universities’ website and we identified the governance situation in Brazilian Federal Court of Accounts survey. The results indicate that the diversity of managers’ titles had a positive influence, and age diversity had a negative effect. The research informs public policymakers and managers about the best composition of management teams, aiming for better performance. Furthermore, based on results, we observed the importance of training programs to improve the skills of managers of newer Higher Education Institutions.
A Study on the Spatial Effect of FDI on Regional Economic Growth: Empirical Test Based on the Dynamic Space Panel Model
Get PDFThe panel data of 30 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government) from 1998 to 2017 are adopted, and the data are from China Science and Technology Statistical Yearbook and China Statistical Yearbook. Based on the dynamic space panel measurement model, the space spillover effect of FDI (foreign direct investment) on domestic economic growth is studied. The results show that FDI not only promotes the economic growth of the province, but also has a spatial spillover effect on the neighboring provinces. In addition, both the static and dynamic spatial panel models show that there is a significant positive spatial correlation between foreign direct investment and the provinces, and there is a spatial dependence between the neighboring provinces. This provides a preliminary theoretical basis for the rational utilization of foreign direct investment, optimize the spatial distribution of foreign investment and promote regional economic growth

Reconstruction of Ecological Value in Translating Traditional Chinese Poetry: A Case Study of Li Bai’s Poem
Get PDFA good reconstruction of ecological value promotes the reception and transmission of translations of traditional Chinese poetry, especially when it is influenced by Taoism. From the perspective of ecological discourse analysis, this paper uses three analysis systems in systemic functional linguistics (SFL), including transitivity system, appraisal system and theme system, and explores the reconstruction of ecological value in the two selected English translations of Li Bai’s poem, Calling on a Taoist in Daitian Mountain Without Meeting Him. We compare translations by Xu Yuanchong and Charles Budd to explore the characteristics of each version, delineating implications for traditional Chinese poetry translation more generally. Three significant conclusions are summarized. Firstly, translators could reconstruct ecological value in the source text by personifying or animalizing the non-human participants of each clause. Secondly, if the appraisal resources in the source text are positive, corresponding appraisal resources should also be rendered properly rather than be omitted randomly. Thirdly, translators should use more non-human organisms and environment elements, instead of human elements, as the themes to weaken human-centeredness
