Research on the Construction of College English Teaching Materials in the Era of New Liberal Arts
Get PDFThe construction of teaching materials serves as an important support for teaching conditions in China, directly shaping teaching quality and talent cultivation. At present, college English teaching materials still face challenges such as unclear positioning, limited diversity, and inadequate incorporation of traditional Chinese culture. This paper, guided by the Understanding Xi Jinping’s Educational Philosophy and the core principles of the “New Liberal Arts” construction, integrates previous teaching practices to present solutions to the issues with college English teaching materials. It lists specific operation methods and approaches from three aspects ranging from refining college English curriculum goals with an integration of “ideological and political” elements, selecting textbook contents that embodies integration concepts, to employing the qualitative research methods in textbook construction. These insights aim to offer valuable references for the construction of college English teaching materials in the new era.
Historical Investigation and Realistic Enlightenment of the CPC's Construction of International Discourse Power: Taking the Translation and Dissemination of Mao Zedong's Works in Vietnamese as an Example
Get PDFThroughout the process of translating and disseminating of Mao Zedong’s works in Vietnamese, it can be found that their types and quantities have gone through different periods with the evolution of Sino Vietnamese relations, exhibiting strong “revolutionary” characteristics, distinct “combat” characteristics, and strong “construction” characteristics. Based on the practical need of external dissemination of the CPC’s ideological theories and policy propositions, the Mao Zedong's works in Vietnamese published by Chinese publishing institutions are superior to Vietnamese publishing institutions in both types and quantities. As an important carrier for enhancing political mutual trust between the governments of China and Vietnam, as well as promoting friendly exchanges between the two peoples, the translation and dissemination of Mao Zedong’s works in Vietnamese not only provided important guidance for Vietnam’s independence, liberation, and economic and social development, but also had a significant impact on the dissemination of Mao Zedong Thought in Vietnam and the construction of China’s international discourse power
The Effectiveness of a Training Program in Developing Gender Role Awareness Among Verbal Adolescents With Autism Spectrum Disorder

To achieve the study objectives, a gender role awareness scale and a gender role awareness training program were built and used. To answer the study question, a one group design was used. The results indicated the effectiveness of the gender role awareness training program. The study recommended the need to train all categories and levels of severity of autism spectrum disorder on gender role awareness skills

Get PDFBien que le traducteur soit souvent envisagé comme « l’homme qui danse avec les chaînes », il prend toujours la grande responsabilité pour transposer le message impliqué du texte source dans la langue d’arrivée. Dans le processus complexe de la traduction, le traducteur doit faire beaucoup d’efforts pour résoudre les problèmes provoqués par les différences linguistiques et extralinguistiques entre les deux langues. Ainsi, la subjectivité du traducteur se présente tout au long de l’activité de la traduction. L’article essaie d’analyser la subjectivité du traducteur à travers le paratexte de la traduction française du classique chinois-Shui Hu Zhuan afin de trouver comment le traducteur doit faire pour transmettre le texte original dans la langue d’arrivée. En même temps, cette étude a objectif de donner quelques conseils à la traduction des œuvres classiques chinoises en langues étrangères.

The Degree of Prevalence of Anxiety Symptoms Among a Sample of Verbal Adolescents With Autism Spectrum Disorder in The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
Get PDFThe current study aimed to describe the degree of prevalence of anxiety symptoms among a sample of verbal adolescents with autism spectrum disorder. The study included 60 verbal adolescents with autism spectrum disorder in Riyadh City, the Kingdom Saudi Arabia. To achieve the objectives of the study, the researchers constructed anxiety symptoms associated with autism spectrum disorder scale and verified its validity and reliability. The scale included 40 items distributed on 5 dimensions that describe the anxiety associated with autism spectrum disorder, which are the dimensions of physical and physiological symptoms, cognitive symptoms, social symptoms, emotional symptoms, and behavioral symptoms. To answer the study questions, a descriptive survey method was used, and the percentage of prevalence score on each item of the scale was calculated. The results indicated that the physical and physiological symptoms were moderate, while the cognitive, social, emotional, and behavioral symptoms ranged from moderate to high. The study recommended comparing the prevalence of anxiety between females and males with autism spectrum disorder, and studying the prevalence rates of anxiety according to the level of severity of autism spectrum disorder
Evaluating the Potentials of Participatory Development Communication in Curbing the Challenges of Population Grouth and Insecurity in Abuja Municipal Area
Get PDFThe study focuses on population growth in Abuja Municipal Area Council and its security implications and the potential of participatory development communication in addressing the menaces. The work adopted qualitative research method in data gathering and analysis. Through this research approach, the researcher effectively made use of primary data collected from the field work through the use of questionnaire. However, a number of scholars have over the years argued that participatory development communication is a viable means of addressing societal issues. Hence, the work concludes and recommends that population growth has security implications on the residents of Abuja Municipal Area; and a viable communication approach like participatory communication approach should adopted and employed to address the issues The results revealed that the urge to travel, quest for greener pasture/better living conditions like search for better employment opportunities, among others are the reasons for the persistent rural-urban migration and resultant effects have been the congestion of the available towns, intimidation and harassment of residents and migrants, rise in unemployment rates, crimes, youth restiveness, prostitution and at the other end, lack of positive social, economic, structural and political developments which is visibly evidence in Abuja Municipal Area
Salaries and Teachers’ Mobility Among Private Schools in Nigeria
Get PDFTeachers’ activities remain important in the growth and development of any nation because the origins of other professions are from teaching. These teachers are paid salary as an economic reward to motivate them to put in more efforts that in turn reflects positively on the efficiency and productivity of the school. However, these teachers are found leaving for other schools at will the very moment opportunities come, with such involving an extra pay. This study therefore sought to establish the determinants of salary administration, teachers’ mobility factors, and determine if any significant relationship exists between salary administration and teachers’ mobility in private schools in Nigeria. The study adopted survey research design. The population of the study comprised all the teachers and school heads in approved 1163 private schools spread across the three Senatorial Districts and 30 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Osun state, Nigeria. Using the Multi-stage sampling procedure, 360 teachers and 27 head teachers were selected. From each of the three senatorial districts in Osun State, three Local Government Areas were selected using purposive sampling technique. Also, from each Local Government, four private schools were selected using purposive sampling technique. The justification for this is to select big schools that are likely to have experienced teachers’ mobility. Data were collected using a self-designed and validated instrument titled: Salary and Teachers’ Mobility Questionnaire (STM-Q). Data collected were analyzed using frequency counts, and percentages for the descriptive aspect of quantitative while correlation was used for the inferential aspect. The results showed determinants of salary in private schools to be whenever school income increases (96.7%), qualifications (84.6%), and students’ school fees (53.2%). Teachers’ mobility in private schools were as a result of welfare package (41.3%), 59.4% believed teachers’ workload, 50.1% attested to opportunities for professional advancement offered and better salary elsewhere (60.5). The study thus concluded that private school owners and critical stakeholders should face current economic reality while determining their teachers’ salary with attention paid to other incentives to discourage incessant mobility of private school teachers. This is for the fact that a significant relationship exists between salaries and teachers’ mobility

Evaluating the Level of Social Functioning Skills of Children With autism Spectrum disorder in the United Arab Emirates
Get PDFThe current study aimed to assess the level of social functioning skills of children with autism spectrum disorder in the United Arab Emirates. The sample included 103 cases of children with autism spectrum disorder (69 males and 34 females) enrolled in government and private special education centers in the United Arab Emirates. To achieve the aim of the study, the researcher constructed a scales of the social functioning skills, and the validity and reliability of them were verified. In order to answer the questions of the study, the descriptive survey methodology was used, and the means, standard deviations, and one-way analysis of variance were used in data processing and reaching results. The results indicated low levels of social functioning skills for children with autism spectrum disorder on the scales used by the study. The study recommended the necessity of including social functioning skills in treatment programs, and targeting the age variable and gender
