    Get PDF
The current study aimed to identify the effectiveness of the Pivotal Response Treatment program in improving social initiative among children with autism spectrum disorder in the post-measurement, and to identify the continuity of the effect of the Pivotal Response Treatment program on the targeted skill. The quasi-experimental approach with an experimental design with two equal groups (experimental and control) was used in the research sample. The research sample includes children with mild autism spectrum disorder between the ages of (6-9) years in the Hana and Kashebin Autism Centers, Erbil. The number of children was (12) male and female, (9 males and 3 females), and they were distributed into two groups: one experimental and the other control. Equality was conducted for the two groups in terms of (chronological age, degree of autism, educational level of parents, and social initiative). The researcher built a social initiative scale and verified its validity and reliability. The program was implemented for three months, with (20) sessions per month and (5) sessions per week. The session duration lasted (25-30) minutes, so the number of program sessions reached (60). The results indicated that the children of the experimental group improved compared to the children of the control group in the post-measurement of the social initiative scale for all sub-dimensions and the total score. The study recommended the necessity of using pivotal response therapy in treating children with autism spectrum disorder, using other variables, and targeting older ages

Possible Relationships Between Access to Digital Social Networks and Support for Democracy in Latin America

    Get PDF
This article analyzes the association between internet access through digital social networks, such as Facebook, Twitter, and WhatsApp, and political attitudes identified by the literature as harmful to democracy. These attitudes include not perceiving democracy as the best form of government, dissatisfaction with democracy, distrust of institutions, and a greater perception of corrupt politicians. The hypothesis is tested that digital social networks favor political attitudes harmful to democracy and thus contribute to its recent crisis, using logistic regression from the Latin American Public Opinion Project database (LAPOP, 2018/2019). The results indicate that digital social networks do not directly compromise the preference for democracy

The Expression of Imagery in Sculptural Art

    Get PDF
Imagery sculpture, as a unique form of expression in sculpture art, emphasizes the integration of subjective emotions and objective objects. Through the artist’s creative selection and re-interpretation, it presents images imbued with spiritual meaning. The creation process of imagery sculpture involves the artist extracting sensory impressions from life and subjectively processing them, with the aim of conveying inner thoughts and emotions through visual forms. In this process, sculptors not only retain the characteristics of the objective objects but also, through the process of “selection” and “elimination,” enhance the expressiveness of the form, in order to create works that possess unique rhythm and artistic appeal. The core feature of imagery sculpture lies in the subjective selection and strengthening of the object. Artists simplify, abstract, and symbolize the form, making the work not just a reproduction of the external world but a reflection of their inner emotions and philosophy. Sculpture works often exhibit a strong sense of rhythm and harmony, creating a pleasing spatial atmosphere that encourages viewers to experience a deeper emotional resonance behind the imagery. This emotional transmission makes imagery sculpture not only a visual art but also a medium for emotional communication. This paper analyzes several classic imagery sculptures to explore the creative methods and forms of expression in imagery sculpture, clarifying its unique role in the field of artistic creation. Through imagery, sculptors express both a deep understanding of reality and transcend it, creating artistic images rich with symbolic meaning. These works lead viewers into an artistic realm filled with emotion and thought. Imagery sculpture serves as both a carrier for the artist’s emotional expression and a vital bridge for communication between the artist and the audience’s hearts and minds

    Get PDF
This paper aims to explore the shared and distinct elements of dwelling in the pastoral poems of William Wordsworth and Tao Yuanming. Employing a qualitative research design and adopting an ecocritical approach, this study scrutinizes a corpus of 10 pastoral poems that represent the quintessence of these two poets’ works. Through a comparative analysis, it investigates how both poets evoke a sense of dwelling in the pastoral, examining the nuanced ways in which they depict the natural environment and reflect on the relationship between humanity and nature. By exploring the pastoral landscapes of Wordsworth, an English Romantic poet, and Tao Yuanming, a poet from the Chinese Jin Dynasty, it is concluded that both William Wordsworth and Tao Yuanming underscore the significance of engaging with natural surroundings as a means of introspection, connection, and rejuvenation. Although they interpret this idea through distinct cultural and literary lenses, their combined poetic works express a shared pursuit of solace, self-discovery, and unity by immersing oneself in the beauty of the natural world

Breaking Language Barriers with Chatbots: A New Era in Second Language Acquisition

    Get PDF
Chatbot applications have emerged as promising tools for enhancing second language acquisition by providing personalized and interactive learning experiences. This paper examines the potential of chatbot technology in language education, highlighting its advantages, challenges, and future directions. Through personalized learning pathways, interactivity, accessibility, and instant feedback, chatbots offer learners opportunities for immersive language practice and skill development. However, chatbots also face challenges such as technical limitations, lack of human interaction, and difficulties in catering to diverse learning styles. Addressing these challenges will require further research and development to advance chatbot technology and pedagogy. Integration with other learning modalities, such as virtual reality and gamification, represents an exciting direction for future development. Recommendations for educators, developers, and policymakers include collaboration, professional development, and efforts to ensure accessibility and inclusivity. By embracing and leveraging chatbot technology, stakeholders can enhance the efficacy and engagement of language education, empowering learners to communicate confidently and effectively in diverse linguistic and cultural contexts
