The Role of Internatinal Capital Flow in Economic Diversification in Nigeria
This research examines the influence of international capital flows on economic diversification in Nigeria from 1981 to 2023. Adopting an ex post facto research design, the study relies on secondary data and applies the Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) model to assess both the short-term and long-term effects of foreign direct investment (FDI), foreign portfolio investment (FPI), remittances (RMT), and official development assistance (ODA) on real gross domestic product (RGDP). Findings from the ARDL Long Run Regression reveal significant relationships among several international capital movement variables. Notably, FDI exhibits a negative and statistically significant effect on RGDP, implying that FDI inflows may not effectively drive economic growth in Nigeria, possibly due to capital repatriation or a mismatch with key economic sectors. In contrast, FPI has a positive and significant effect on RGDP, suggesting that short-term portfolio investments contribute positively to economic expansion. Similarly, ODA demonstrates a positive and significant relationship with RGDP, reinforcing the role of foreign aid in stimulating growth. However, RMT does not show statistical significance, indicating that remittances may have a limited impact on economic growth. Based on these outcomes, it is suggested that Nigeria strengthen its investment framework by channeling FDI into productive sectors to enhance growth. Furthermore, policies aimed at ensuring the stability of foreign portfolio investments and optimizing the utilization of foreign aid resources could support economic expansion. This study highlights the importance of different forms of international capital in advancing Nigeria’s economic growth
Identification of the Reverse Path of Science and Technology Intermediary in Innovation Activities
One of the important functions of science and technology intermediary is to focus on the SME market demand to guide research and development in universities and research institutes, which is needed not only for social development, but also for the transition of China’s economic development to the domestic demand-led growth. Thus, “cloud model” and “Dandelion model” can be the expanded function of science and technology intermediary. The development of this reverse path can enhance the position of “industry” in the relations among industry, university and research
Vote Buying and Democratic Development Initiative in North-Central Nigeria: Issues and Prospects
Elections in North-central Nigeria had taken dimension of vote buying this has become flashpoints, which affects successful democratic development initiative in Nigeria. Elections are the baseline for all democracies. It is the process of selecting representatives in free and fair manners that is free of compulsion inducement. The incident surrounding the process of selecting representatives in Nigeria creates trust deficits that hinder the smooth functioning of democracy, even when the leader can make decision on behalf of the people to secure democratic development. The paper set to examine how vote buying has undermines democratic development to produce declared winner without integrity. The paper adopted descriptive research, which benefited from secondary sources of data from the target population. The secondary data sources were drawn from electoral body, Nigeria police report, Newspapers, Journals, Books, Conference and Seminars paper, Government publication and Internet. The study utilized social exchange theory. The theory believes that social behaviour of people is the result of an exchange process that maximise benefits and minimise cost. The paper finds that a compromise electoral democracy is fragile to democratic development; as such it pushes disgruntled groups to find less constructive channel to expression their discontents. The paper recommends institutionalised electronic voting and credible elections devoid of vote buying to actualise the essence of democratic development initiative in north-central Nigeria
Défis linguistiques et communication interculturelle : Le cas des expatriés chinois au Maroc

Community-Led Peacebuilding and Environmental Sustainability in Nigeria’s Resource-Scarce Regions: Strategies for Conflict Resolution and Sustainable Development
This paper explores community-led approaches to peacebuilding and environmental sustainability in resource-scarce regions of Nigeria, focusing on developments from 2000 to 2024. It examines the complex relationship between environmental degradation, particularly in areas like the Niger Delta, Middle Belt, and Northeast Nigeria, and the conflicts that arise over diminishing natural resources. By focusing on grassroots initiatives, this study highlights how community-driven solutions can simultaneously address environmental challenges and promote long-term peace. The paper discusses integrating traditional ecological knowledge and modern resource management techniques to mitigate resource-based conflicts and foster sustainable development in these regions. It also emphasizes the significant role of women and youth in peacebuilding processes, illustrating how local actors contribute to conflict resolution and environmental restoration efforts. Drawing from case studies conducted within the past two decades, the paper critically examines the barriers to scaling these initiatives, including political dynamics, resource allocation, and the challenges posed by climate change. Ultimately, the paper argues for the necessity of a multi-stakeholder approach, integrating local communities, governmental bodies, and civil society organizations in building a resilient, sustainable framework for peace and environmental protection in Nigeria’s resource-scarce areas
Gleaning Insights From the Opportunities and Challenges Female Broadcasters’ Work Present in Southwestern Nigeria
This study explores aspects of broadcasting and how they impact female broadcasters and their families in Southwestern Nigeria. The investigation not only focused on the opportunities that broadcasting presents for female broadcasters and their families but also highlighted the issues and challenges female broadcasters encounter within their work and familial contexts and those their families faced concerning the women’s workday. The study also gleaned insight from participants’ experiences, meaning-making and learning from the opportunities and challenges associated with the female broadcasters’ workday. Using the narrative research design that employed the phenomenological approach, 18 participants were purposively sampled in Oyo and Ogun States. From the Television Section of The Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State (BCOS) and Ogun State Television (OGTV), three female broadcasters were selected each using a purposive sampling technique while the husband and a child of each woman were selected using snowballing sampling. Data collection was done using interview guides while data collected were analysed using phenomenological analysis. The results showed that personal, professional and/or collective benefits were accrued from the women’s work. There were also the challenges participants had with each other in relation to the women’s workday including spousal and cultural demands, occupational and safety issues. Furthermore, some of the participants’ experiences resulted in learning. Thus, it was concluded that in acknowledging the benefits derived from female broadcasters’ work and despite the challenges it posed to participants, significant learning experiences were fostered to navigate through the peculiarities of the women’s work and their family dynamics

Longing and Belonging in Hisham Matar’s A Month in Siena
The sense of longing and belonging overwhelms diasporic individuals, and Hisham Matar is no exception. His memoirs are living proof of the author’s inner search for balance. In his work A Month in Siena, Matar embarks on a journey to a new space—a third space between his homeland and host land. Hisham visits Siena for the sake of the galleries the city possesses and the paintings it bestows for the beholder to contemplate and meditate. This paper then aims to examine how Matar navigates and transforms these intense emotions through the lens of art in Siena and seeks to uncover the psychological depth of his journey and the underlying motivations and implications of his engagement with paintings. Mainly, through Freudian and Jungian lenses, this paper links the fragmented aspects of the memoir to illustrate how time and place interplay in reinforcing the protagonist’s struggle and the author’s conscious and unconscious strategies to overcome such a predicament
