A Study on the C-E Classic Sayings Translation Quality Assessment of LLM DeepSeek-R1 in Understanding Xi Jinping’s Educational Philosophy
This study sampled 30 classic sayings contained in the Understanding Xi Jinping’s Educational Philosophy as the research objects. It takes the official translation version Understanding Xi Jinping’s Educational Philosophy which was commissioned to Beijing Foreign Studies University by the National Textbook Committee Office as the reference translation, and the translations generated by the domestically advanced Large Language Model (the following is abbreviated as LLM) DeepSeek-R1 as the objects for translation quality evaluation. The study adopts quantitative evaluation and qualitative analysis as research methods. Through the collaborative analysis of two indicators, namely COMET (Cross-lingual Optimized Metric for Evaluation of Translation) and TER (Translation Edit Rate), it quantitatively evaluates the performance of the evaluation objects in semantic fidelity, and the surface edit distance difference. At the same time, it qualitatively analyzes the cultural-loaded equivalence of the evaluation objects. The study finds that the LLM DeepSeek-R1 can translate well with accurate semantics and suitable contexts in the translation of classic sayings. However, when dealing with expressions with profound cultural connotations, there are still problems such as semantic deviations, insufficient transmission of cultural images, and a measurable surface edit distance from the reference translation. This study provides empirical evidence for enhancing the textual translation quality of the LLM DeepSeek-R1 in the field of classic sayings translation; it also serves as an important reference for future enhancements of the model in this field and the expansion of its application scenarios.
Chinese Discourse Governance in AI Era Cross-Cultural Communication: A Perspective From Regional and Country-Specific Law Courses
This paper discusses the construction of governance mechanisms for Chinese discourse in cross-cultural communication in the AI era according to the teaching of regional and country legal education. Knowledge learned from the area and country law courses can help students to better understand the differences in legal systems and their limitations on discourse dissemination. The development of AI technologies brings new opportunities and challenges for China in terms of discourse legitimacy and expression in international communication. New requirements are raised in response to the challenges brought by AI technologies, such as complying with different national regulations on content, privacy, and algorithms, as well as ethical issues in the automatic production and moderation of content. Based on the framework of regional legal systems, this paper proposes an adaptive governance mechanism model that combines AI technology and fine-grained legal knowledge to improve the legitimacy, cultural identity, international influence of Chinese discourse in cross-cultural communication. This paper also discusses the importance of interdisciplinary education in legal knowledge and AI literacy to better prepare practitioners for working in cross-cultural communication environments. This paper contributes to the academic discussions on using AI to empower China’s multilingual cultural communication in the world
Life Writing: A Parodical Springboard in Nabokov’s Pale Fire
Vladimir Nabokov is a parodist par excellence targeting numerous earlier literary texts as well as devices. Parodies manipulated in his 1962 novel, Pale Fire, are more intricate, mannered, and fabricated in terms of their dimension and depth than those in his previous novels. This essay intends to address one specific parodied artifice in the novel of interest, life writing (more often referred to as auto/biography), specifically from the perspective of the formal and textual construction in two major regards: first, the translation and annotation of Pushkin’s Eugene Onegin not only provides the source of inspiration but also serves as one parodied means of life writing to shape the structural framework of this uniquely personalized novel; and second, the novel draws heavily from the life writing in Boswell’s The Life of Samuel Johnson by parodying the biographer/subject relationship. This essay contends that it is through the prism of parody that Nabokov revives and innovates in Pale Fire life writing both as a genre and literary approach by referring the readers back to the pre-texts. In this sense, parody functions as a springboard to a higher level of literary creation, as is typically exemplified in Pale Fire.
A Study of Linguistic Solecisms in the Medium Version of the Gǝʿǝz Acts of Saint Mark the Evangelist
This article investigates linguistic solecisms in the Ethiopic Acts of Saint Mark the Evangelist, with particular attention to the medium version of the text. Linguistic solecisms, understood here as a departure from accepted linguistic norms, particularly orthographic, lexical and grammatical aspects, serves here as a valuable insight through which we examine the processes of translation and transmission in Gǝʿǝz literature. The Acts of Saint Mark, preserved as a hagiographic narrative and mediated through centuries of scribal activity, contains a number of constructions that diverge from classical Gǝʿǝz conventions. These deviations not only point to the linguistic and interpretive challenges encountered by translators working from Greek or Coptic sources but also illuminate the evolving character of Gǝʿǝz as a literary and liturgical language shaped by regional, temporal, and scribal contexts. Through close textual analysis, the article categorizes and interprets various types of awkward expressions, such as irregular verbal forms, disrupted syntactic patterns, and unexpected lexical combinations. While traditionally viewed as errors, such features can be understood as markers of translation strategies, indicators of linguistic adaptation, or evidence of scribes negotiating foreign idioms within an indigenous literary framework. Situating these findings within the broader tradition of Ethiopic hagiography, the article argues that solecisms contribute to the distinctive character of the hagiographic text and reveal important aspects of its historical development. This study mainly demonstrates that the analysis of solecism not only enriches our understanding of the Gǝʿǝz text but also provides valuable insights into the cultural adaptation that formed the Ethiopian Gǝʿǝz literary tradition.
Strategies Put in Place for Combating Unemployment in Southwestern Nigeria: Rural Employment Promotion Programmes of National Directorate of Employment
The study examined the strategies of the National Directorate of Employment in combating mass unemployment in Southwestern Nigeria. The Directorate uses training as a vehicle for stimulating youth interest in taking agriculture as a vocation and discovering agricultural value-chain business possibilities that may lead to the development of jobs and wealth so also the settlement of beneficiaries already trained to start small-scale agro-allied and agro-based ventures yet the challenge of unemployment seem not to be abated Following its instruction, NDE was tasked with creating and implementing programs to combat unemployment as well as articulating strategies for creating work programs with labor-intensive capacities, (FRN, 2004)In line with the NDE’s mandate to impart skills to the unskilled, the target audience in all the schemes is mainly the unskilled with various levels of educational background including:• School leavers;• Graduates of tertiary institutions;• Retired or retiring Persons;• People with special needs including the vulnerable, physically challenged, etc.Their programme execution involves the state offices led by state coordinators. Apart from that, the NDE’s programmes are primarily carried out within budgetary constraints. This is supplemented by collaborative activities such as those outlined in the NDE Act. National and international donor agencies, faith-based and non-governmental organizations, and community-based petitions are among the targets of such attempts. Collaboration with National Assembly members in the execution of constituency initiatives is a relatively recent concept. Because these joint initiatives, particularly those with NASS members, are driven by need, they are effective ways of transmitting skills at the local level

By synthesizing insights from diverse disciplines and perspectives, the paper offers a nuanced understanding of GPC as a defining dynamic of today’s international order. It concludes by emphasizing the urgent need for adaptable and forward-looking governance mechanisms capable of mitigating this competition and fostering long-term stability in an increasingly competitive world
Research on Early Numeracy Development
This research paper examines the significance of early childhood numeracy development in fostering 21st-century skills within a globalized and technology-driven context. Through observational studies in a childcare center and a home environment, the author explores how play-based activities such as Sudoku, memory chess, building blocks, and Lego enhance children’s numeracy competencies, including counting strategies, spatial awareness, problem-solving, and relational understanding. Findings reveal that structured yet flexible activities in familiar settings significantly improve children’s mathematical thinking, particularly when aligned with their developmental stages. The study emphasizes the critical role of collaboration between families and educators in nurturing numeracy skills, advocating for guided support, encouragement of mistakes as learning opportunities, and tailored pedagogical approaches to address individual differences. Key observations highlight that children demonstrate higher engagement and success in activities that balance challenge and familiarity, such as age-appropriate Sudoku puzzles or pattern-based block arrangements. The paper concludes by underscoring the long-term impact of effective numeracy practices on foundational mathematical achievement and calls for further research into factors like gender, age, and environmental influences on numeracy development. Practical recommendations include integrating numeracy into daily routines, fostering relational understanding through problem-solving, and leveraging mistakes to build resilience and curiosity in young learners
