From Presence to Decision-making: Understanding ‘Participation’
Community ‘participation’ or ‘consultation’ or ‘discourse’ are a fewterms that always mark their presence in the policy documents preparedunder present welfare programmes. There are legal provisions meant toensure people’s participation in both rural and urban areas to promotedemocratic governance procedures. The target population is oftenencouraged to engage in dialogue with the recognized ‘agents’ ofchange belonging to both government and non-governmentorganizations. However, there is a difference between the idea ofparticipation as understood in democratic governance and how it isreally practised. Instead of taking initiative in planning, based on theirneeds and culture, people generally end up doing ‘role plays’ or beingdummy participants. This paper tries to arrive at the core of the conceptof participation as understood by NGOs, funding organizations and thegovernment. It brings into focus the right/power of members to takedecisions as an important element of participation. With the help of datagathered during the field work around the creation processes ofcommunication material on a national health programme (i.e. NationalVector Borne Disease Control Programme), the study aim to reflectupon the standardized procedures that are developed and maintained bya private communication agency to ensure participation by the targetedbeneficiaries
Advanced Control Methods of Induction Motor: A Review
In this paper, various types of advanced control methods of the induction motor are discussed, and a comparision between these methods have been brought out. This paper also discusses about the application areas of these new methods. The objective of this review is to conclude which method is the best control scheme among all of these methods. The related block diagrams for various control schemes are also illustrated along with various steps involved in the implementation of those schemes. Advantages and disadvantages of the schemes are also presented
Nanotechnology in Cancer Detection and Treatment
 Nanotechnology has taken great strides in the field of medicine with improved drug delivery systems. The application of nanoparticles in cancer detection and treatment has been prominent in recent years wherein unique properties can be utilized for detection of site specific tumors. The main objective of this review is to give an update on the available techniques and briefly describe the nano-medicines developed so far for an effective treatment. Conventional techniques face the problem of toxicity resulting from the administered drug. In addition to this, most of the techniques available detect cancer only after metastasis which hampers the effectiveness of the anti-cancer drug. Through the application of nanotechnology techniques, active cancer cells can be differentiated and treated without harming the healthy cells. This review discusses the use of nanoparticles like quantum dots and fullerenes for detection of cancer cells by acting as imaging agents. These are crucial for identifying the affected cells and tissues for effective measurement. Liposomes and dendrimers are used in treatment through development of advanced drug delivery systems. Some other nanoparticles like carbon nanotubes and magnetic nanoparticles have extended application in both imaging and treatment. Due to its wide ranging properties and diverse applications, the nanoparticles developed so far and nanotechnology as a whole has a huge potential in cancer treatment
ADMISSION OF AZEOTROPIC MIDDLE CLASS IN THE PERIPHERY OF POLITICAL ECONOMY THROUGH INCOME –TAX RELATION
The present study embodies income and tax relation with reference to any country. The income of the number fractions of different group people of a country is highlighted although the tax is commenced after reaching the income at certain level or above this. For the ideal system, the lense shaped curve considers both the possibilities of regressive and progressive taxes where the former is associated with volatile mentality and the latter is concerned with liquid mentality of tax payer. The non-ideal systems are of two alternative possibilities where deviations from ideal behavior are highest at some composition corresponding to lowest or highest income levels. Both the possibilities consider a pair of lense shaped area (with a definite point of meeting) wherefrom a new concept is developed which is nothing but azeotropic middle class such that the components cannot be separated by fractional liquid mentality principle. The corresponding chemical aspect is also mentioned where temperature vs. Composition curves of both ideal and non-ideal systems of completely miscible liquid pair are taken into consideration. The concept of phase rule, Lever rule, azeotrope and theoretical plate are involved and the useful theoretical relations in this regard are also indicated
A study on the Impact of Demonetization
Demonetization refers to Withdrawal of a particular form of currency from circulation. Demonetization is necessary whenever there is a change of national currency. The old unit of currency must be removed and substituted with a new currency unit. The currency was demonetized first time in 1946 and second time in 1978. On Nov. 2016, the currency is demonetized third time by the present Modi government. This is a bold step taken by the government towards the betterment of the economy and the country. In this paper, we want to discuss the impact of recent demonetization on the Indian system.The common public and bankers are undoubtedly in hassles in the present scenario. The first question that arises is why was demonetization done at this point of time. A sample of around 127 were selected from the city of Guwahati and from some areas of North East India. The aim of the research is to find out the impact of demonetization on the society. This research has also been conducted to see if there is any significant impact among the different factors that is related to demonetization and its outcome.         This study is a causal and conclusive study. The questionnaire was prepared for measuring Impact of demonetization, the implementation process and the perceptions of the people with regards to the government’s intention. The data were analyzed by using statistical tools and data analysis through the questionnaire. It was found out that a lot of factors played a role due to the move taken by the government. There is also a relationship between the implementation, government’s intention and the impact due to this move
A Review on Wireless Power Transfer
This paper is a review of the various designs put forward by various people regarding the Wireless Power Transfer (WPT). Here the designs have been discussed, along with the purpose that the design can be used for, the efficiency of the power produced and also the ways to improve the efficiency of the design. The values of various parameters and diagrams used are based on the experimental results of various researchers. Finally, a suitable conclusion has been drawn regarding the best design, which can be used for WPT taking into consideration the various associated factors that have been discussed here
EDM of Al7075-B4C-flyash hybrid metal matrix nano-composites and optimization of sustainable measures using genetic algorithm
Sustainability is an important approach in today’s manufacturing environment to achieve overall efficiency in terms of economic, environmental and social aspects. This research work aims to investigate the applicability of sustainability in electrical discharge machining (EDM) of Al7075-B4C-flyash hybrid metal matrix nano-composites (HMMNCs). The machining experiments are conducted using central composite design with voltage (V), current (I), pulse-on-time (Ton) and pulse-off-time (Toff) as process parameters and surface roughness and power consumption are being sustainable measures. Mathematical predictive models were developed using response surface methodology (RSM). The predicted performance of the model shows an error percentage 3.76% and 3.97% for surface roughness and power consumption respectively. The experimental results obtained are analysed using 3D contour plots and current and pulse-on-time found most dominating parameters. The sustainable measures are optimized simultaneously using the popular optimization tool i.e., genetic algorithm. The Pareto optimal fronts provide different optimum cutting conditions for production of components with minimum power consumption satisfying the desired surface roughness value. The approach is found to be an effective tool and can be developed with minimum effort and help shop floor engineer towards sustainable machining approach
Studies on the effect of temperature on Au Nanoparticles
This work report the temperature dependence UV-Visible (UV-Vis) Spectroscopy, Photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy, Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR), current change and electrochemical studies of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs). The UV-Vis, PL, SPR, current and redox potential of AuNPs strongly depends on temperature. The SPR band of AuNPs shows at 534 nm. The PL emission band of AuNPs shows at 421 nm, when excited at 350 nm. The UV-Vis of AuNPs was studied between the temperature range 180-800 C. The PL emission of AuNPs was studied between the temperature range 160-830 C. The observed temperature raise effects the red shift along with broadening of SPR band and PL emission intensity of AuNPs. The redox potential (verses Ag-AgCl reference electrode) of AuNPs was measured by cyclic voltammetry technique between the temperature range12o_80o C. The observed redox potential -0.956Volt at 12oC shifts anodically with raising the temperature to -0.904Volt at 40oC and the redox potential remains unchanged at -0.904Volt up to 80oC. Temperature induced effects on AuNPs appeared between the temperature range 38o-45o C and beyond this temperature range no significant influence of temperature on SPR, PL emission intensity, current change and redox potential were found. The temperature dependent effects may be attributed due to the electron-phonon scattering, thermal expansion of AuNPs
